Alone, wheatgrass is overwhelming for me. I add it to my daily green juice -- kale or collards, granny smith apple, romaine or cucumber, sometimes celery, cilantro if on hand, but definitely lemon or lime and ginger. Drink over ice or diluted with pure water or rejuvelac. Peace.

I have the Kempo and love it -- I had a Champion beforehand and it clogged and heated up the juice. I've never used the Green Star, but have absolutely NO complaints about the Kempo. Also, although people complain about cleaning, I don't find the Kempo taxing to clean -- I actually appreciate caring for something that gives me so much in return! Peace.

I love raw red beets -- I spiralize them and carrots and always have them on hand to add to my salads. Great with ginger-miso dressing!!

So now that they have definitively linked the last e coli spinach contimination to a cattle ranch upstream, they are attempting to regulate produce farmers. Once again, the FDA has proven that it will do anything to protect the meat/dairy industry while attempting force more regulations on industries that would be unnecessary if they actually ENFORCED existing regulations on the industries that

This seems weird to me. They moved my post on produce irradiation giving this message as the reason for moving it: "This forum is for discussing what is considered OFF TOPIC for the other forums. It is still a VEGAN forum, so no animal products, please." Since when are vegetable/fruit irradition and animal rights NOT vegan issues?????

Do you think these can be dry stored -- I'm going on vacation and am looking for ways to stay high raw. It would be great if they didn't need to be refrigerated -- then I could bring them to restaurants, order a big salad and guac and feast.

I have the vitaprep 3 and it is wonderful. But, I also loved my old stainless steel vitamix that I used for years and picked up for very little $ on ebay. The SS one still works -- we needed a second blender for my DH to use at work -- of course he took the old one, but of course I share the vitaprep with him when he's home!

I find granny smiths to be the best for juicing (I use a Kempo). And I love their tart flavor. I use them in my green lemonade and have found that if I go back and forth, juice some greens, then a couple slices of apple, then more greens, etc., then I get great results and the vegetable screen doesn't clog up. Also, the Kempo comes with interchangeable attachments to use when juicing mixed green

I was wondering the same thing. I got some at an Indian grocery. I've found that I'm not much for sprouted chickpea hummus. Others swear by zucchini hummus but I haven't tried that yet.

Dulse-- one tablespoon has 17% of RDA of B12. I mix some in my salad dressings instead of using salt, in smoothies. So eat sea veggies!

Cousins does have very very strong views on what should be avoided entirely, what works depending on your type, etc. When I read his books, I always keep in mind that he is often in the role of helping people cure themselves from critical health crises -- and it might be that what a person's system who is attempting to cure diabetes or cancer is different from maintaining excellent health. Green Lemonade: Run through juicer: 4-5 Kale stalks head of romaine knob ginger 2 apples 1 lemon (unpeeled) (I sometimes throw in wheatgrass, parsley or cilantro) It is the best thing to get you energized in the morning if you are not particularly an AM person. --------- For your own body and health, whether you are transitioning or need to slow down the cleansing process that you

Sapphire-- So far we are implementing this in the elementary school and hopefully can shift into the Jr.& High schools next year. We have the added advantage of living in a rural area and the closest McD is about 2 miles away. If kids want to walk that far, at least they're getting their exercise! (They're not allowed to drive off school grounds mid-day. My feeling about the crap they

Pam--I also use dulse in my salad! Agreed, it tastes great especially with avo & tomato. I buy it whole and put it in my blender to make small flakes. I also throw some in with the sprouting seeds while they soak. When I drain them, the flakes stay with the seeds and similiar to sea water, the sprouts soak up the extra nutrients.

After looking at as many recipes for Spinach Soup as I could find, I cobbled this recipe together based on the ingredients I had in my kitchen: 4 C Raw Spinach 1/4 c soaked/rinsed pine nuts 1/4 cucumber 1 clove garlic knob ginger cumin pinch cayenne pepper 2 sundried tomatoes Blend above with: green-ginseng suntea (steep tea in glass jar in sunny place) using as much as you need to ge

Great video. The work that he does throug PCRM is critical. I volunteer on my kids' school's wellness committee and boy did I get a real eyeopener when I realized the absolute CRAP that they serve kids in school. And to top it off, there are members of the wellness committee who joined just so that those of us who would like to revamp the lunch program so that their children retain their &

The article seems to suggest a 10% sea water solution. Can't wait to try it. I live near salt water marshes and bay, and I'm thinking of getting a water sample tested to see how clean the water is before using it this spring in the garden.

Yes -- it is funny because when people think raw is time-consuming, I think they are forgetting about the time they used to actually cook, simmer, clean pots & pans. Zucchini pasta is simple and when I spiralize, I do enough for a few meals. Same with the raw tomato sauce: throw in blender: handful sundried tomatoes (can soak for about 1 hr first), garlic clove, 1 roma tomato, handful

Here's the recipe for Green Lemonade: (1 serving) 1 head romaine or celery 5 to 6 stalks kale (any type) 1 to 2 apples -- she recommends fuji but I use granny smith because they are easier to juice with my juicer 1 while organic lemon, peel & all 1 to 2 T fresh ginger (optional) As quoted from the book, "Lemon really cuts out the "green" taste that most people try to

Supplements: Pure synergy TV: Gilmore Girls and Craig Ferguson monologues! Other than that, I don't have any real interest in other shows anymore -- and I used to love watching CSI and other crime shows. Now they just kind of make me feel queasy with all the violence and energy spent focusing on hatred/anger/destruction. And, yeah, what is that with the Burger King guy -- really creepy.

Thanks to you all for your heartfelt advice -- I love that each person brings a different perspective that I have been able to consider -- after all, so much of the suffering in life is that we see things from a very limited vantage and there are whole worlds of possible perspectives that are valid. So, yes, Suvine, I CAN see how it is in fact me sabotaging myself by EXPECTING my husband to act

One of the issues with being an "all or nothing" person -- count me in as having this kind of personality -- is that things do swing back to NOTHING. I think this is why NR's Detox Book works for me. Knowing that there is an entire spectrum in between often allows me to go through a decision making process that brings me back to raw. I like the fact that there it is not about either

Sapphire--It does just make so much sense that we do everything we can to keep our bodies strong through radical raw nutrition, whether to heal or too keep from becoming sick. Thanks for your inspiration.

Sapphire--Thanks so much for your suggestions. Part of the problem was that in the beginning, he was willing to try raw recipes -- although he doesn't "get" the raw food thing -- and he's even really liked some. I've continued to make cooked foods for the family, although much simpler, like steamed brown rice, whole wheat pasta, plus I've always put alot of raw veggies out, so that ha

So, I know others are dealing with this issue, but right now my husband is sabotaging my raw vegan eating lifestyle -- "Too radical." While I know this is my own body and choice, it is very diffult to be emotionally undermined by someone who should be either actively supportive or at least quietly neutral! So, thanks to all of you on this forum for your ACTIVE support!

I used that book when I first learned about raw -- I too liked the approach of really listening to your body and easing into the transition. I feel as if it also gave me confidence to go back to eating less raw when I was going through what I feel like was "emotional detox" when I was eating almost 100% raw until I worked through some of the emotional baggage. My body seemed to know w

Yeah--I do raw all week -- feel great -- then the weekend comes and I lapse (usually dinner) and feel totally achey and sluggish afterwards. Also, I notice that I don't really even "crave" the cooked food, it kind of makes me when I think about eating it, but after the first bite, the old food-addict is back in action! So, the goal for me is better planning for the weekend!

Check out Ebay -- I got my vitamix used on Ebay for VERY cheap -- it is one of those old stainless steel ones with the spigot -- often the machines have been rarely used and are like new. I've had mine for about 3 years, use it multiple times a day and have never had any problems! Ebay probably has used juicers as well. Then you get both a juicer and a high-speed blender for what you would pay
