I used to consider myself a veggie person until I realized the tomatoes and cucumbers are fruits. So between that and bananas lol, I'm a fruit person

QuoteWhen I went 100% raw last year, I lost a lot of weight very quickly. I'm sure that if I was more aware of my calorie needs and that if I'd known more about the calorie content of raw foods I would have done a lot better. I basically fell off raw vegan after about 3 months because I had lost a lot of weight and everyone was telling me I looked ill. Losing a lot of weight in the beginning, f

From what I've read- the protein "building blocks" in veggies are better than meat. Meat has complete proteins the body must break down to use where as greens have building blocks and form together inside the body to complete proteins that are more designed for our bodies. You'll get everything you need out of a 100% raw diet as long as you eat a variety of foods and make sure you e

Most things prepackaged are going to be cooked unless they specifically state that they are 100% raw.

I'm not all about recipes personally. All the recipes I tried not only weren't good but they cost me too much. Just eat whole foods not in recipes and you'll probably like them better

I don't think there's a discount shelf at the one grocer, but there is another store not too far so I may see if they haev one there. I'm also ging to call to ask if they'd sell me fruits that were 'overripe"

I know there are a lot of oriental markets uptown - the problem is getting there. I choose not to drive (no license, have had my permit for 6 years) and getting to that area requires switching buses which I've never done before. I can get to my reg. grocery store though any day I want. Typically I'm going twice per week as well. Each time buying about 4-5 days worth.

See...I dont see how you guys are getting stuff for this cheap. Typically with cooked foods and mostly prepackaged we spent about $200 MAX on groceries for the two of us per month. With raw, not even buying organic - but just conventional, I spent $50 and it was only enough to last me 4-5 days at most. That means just for ME to eat per month (giving some leeway and saying the food would last 5

Arugale posted this in another thread: QuoteDetox is an abused term, it is probably almost always not enough kcals. Can someone give me more information...if there is any to give? I've always thought the body would to through a detox, never considered it being because of kcals. I haven't been through a detox yet, but when I switched over from conventional foods to all organic (or at least no

Cynthia - Your leaves comment made me remember something. My grandmother's yard always grew these tiny purple flowers, I remember I used to love to just sit in the middle of a bunch and eat them lol

Thankfully I've learned early the more simple the better. I'd much rather eat whole foods than make recipes. As of now I've started blogging things on my raw myspace (http://www.myspace.com/rawtermelon) so yea

I just wanted to bump this up (hope that is ok) because I would love to see more examples of daily menus . This post made me realize that I don't think I'm getting a good balance of food so it'd be nice to get more suggestions

Oh I didn't even think of that lol. I'll probably post there and also on my myspace. I was going to do livejournal but for some reason it keeps coming up saying I'm under 13 and my parents need to verify that I can use the account...but I'm 21...I think they have a glitch.

I agree with posing these questions on doug graham's board. As for the whole organic thing...of course it's best if you get all organics. However, I think that if you want to eat any conventional fruits and veggies it's best to eat those shown to have the lowest pesticide rates (some are even undetectable) The 12 with the lowest rates are: Asparagus Avocados Bananas Broccoli Cauliflower

Thanks sachelle!!! What's odd is that my best friend and I have the same birthday as well. And for anyone who was going to add me... I've been meaning to make a different myspace more oriented just towards RAW, because my friends on my regular myspace aren't into all that and I still kind of keep it to myself...so I now have this one to add all you raw foodists heh!

I have fallen behind in eating raw. I had previously been up to about 85%, but this week I have eaten all cooked because we were having money troubles (old car was a gas hog and on it's last leg so we had to buy a new car) and I was just eating things we already had in the house rather than going grocery shopping. But now we're fine again and will be for a while (my fiance just closed a great d

22. Greens?
I spoke to a raw mama recently who said that she doesn't eat greens. She only eats fruits and a few nuts and that's it. She is also a mono eater. I thought that greens were needed to prevent certein defeciencies? I'm very new to this so I may be wrong - but can someone explain this?

For those who still use honey - I use a mixture of honey and sea salt on my face as a scrub (or just honey by itself for a facial cleanser) and use coconut oil for a moisturizer. I also really like using aloe vera (straight from the plant) on my face from time to time. Since using honey my face went from very broken out to clear except for scars - love it

On another forum I'm on I had a lot of people ask me about eating raw so I made a post about it. One person's comment was: QuoteThe only studies I was able to find showed that people on Raw Food Diets have less energy, lower bone density, and irregular menstrual cycles. They found that of people who eat 100% raw food, 50% of the women had stopped menstruating completely, and 30% of the people

I've heard this mentioned here before but was curious about everyone's opinion: Which do you think is "better" juicing or blending? I don't own a juicer nor do I really plan to buy one anytime soon because we're working on saving money...but I have a blender. When I want something more 'juice like' and less smoothie like I will sometimes strain some pulp out with cheesecloth. I'm

I'm a stay at home mom who is dabbling in work at home mom'ing (I sell a lot of products like burts bees, toms of maine, california baby, dr.bronners, etc for cheaper than in store prices and I sell various cloth products and also make customizations to slings used for babywearing). My fiance works as the leader of his group in a company called Nexcom. They sell blackberrys to companies.
