I liked the following artilcle by Laurie Forti, which represents a line-in-line critique of Miltons´s theories. See: One statementof Laurie Forti: "One of the more amusing crackpot theories propagated by meatarian propagandists is that eating animal fat made the human brain grow larger, thus animal fat made us more intelligent. If that were true, then why aren't carnivores much

It is probably the natural glutamate which make tomatoes somehow "addictive". It also stands for the "fifth taste" called "umami". I, personally, now avoid nightshade plants – i also was addicted to tomatoes and tomatillos for their unique, savory taste, which distinguishes them from sweet fruits. However, they gave me some digestive troubles (probably due to a

I also would go by how my body feels on a high fat raw diet. I always felt sluggish, low in energy and congested on a high fruit+greens+1 avocado a day (no nuts, seeds, oils). However it was a big help for me to “know” the medical facts about the effects of high fatty fruits like avocados mainly on the blood flow to overcome my insane avo-addiciton. Over the years i have done some researc

I was diagnosed having a CNS-disease, probably MS, 6 years ago (being already a raw foodsist for some weeks) and did some research on MS and diet. I´m convinced MS is some kind of CNNS-allergy to proteins, our body attacks as being foreign (gluten, casein...). I found the Best Bet Diet according to the research of Ashton Embry interesting. See: They also have a message board. Aside i think

Ela, I would be very glad to hear from your raw food journey and Your way of becoming healthy and strong again. I have saved several posts from the old board regarding some raw food concerns i once had (2 are also from You). You are right I have struggled for a very long time with health problems (digestive upset, fat intolerance and headaches) and i have also researched them quite a lot. Doi

I´m sorry for having stressed those who love avocados (Jimmyjoe). Maybe it´s really a personal intolerance from my body. To clarify: I´m 100% raw since over five years and the longer i go this path the more sensitive I´m against fats, patricular avocados. I always get this reactions: swellings around the nose/lips and a not so flat belly (i´m very thin/underweight). Aside i experience t

I know salt dehydrates the cells and causes water retention around them leading to edema (swollen belly, puffy face...). Now i wonder if fatty foods like nuts and/or avocados can do the same. When i mono-eat avocados (no nuts or salt), i always get swellings around the nose and have a bloated belly on the next day. Could it be a reaction similar like animals get them. Avocados are toxic for ma

Robert Gray (wrote a book about gut flora and mucoid-forming foods) says, buckwheat sprouts are starchy unless they are sprouted at least for six days. They then turn into leafy greens. I experienced congested sinuses when eating buckwheat sprouts (3 days sprouted), and they also are somehow addicitve to me - probably because of their high glutamic acid, which might react as a neurotransmitter

Bryan (and others), I´m just curious: Do raw fats cause mucus? I suppose raw nuts cause mucus because they are acidic. But what about avocados? Thanks in advance.

I went one step further and have cut out all overt fats three months ago. I get severe headaches and bloating from avocados and after some research have decided to cut them out completely. I´m doing much more better without fats: more energy, no digestive upset... In a german raw food board someone discussed avocaods containing polysaccharides (mannoheptulose), which like inulin should better
