I think my vision improved from taking USANA supplements. I began taking them a couple years ago after being bed ridden every night from dizziness for months. They worked great and I still take them. I noticed one day looking at trees in the distance that I could see the individual leaves. It's not that I couldn't before, but I think it wasn't as clear. I remember seeing the same thing as a te

Yeah, yogurt would do the trick for yeast infections because of the probiotics. Wonder if it would work for acne? Anyway, I was just wondering how anyone eats raw garlic? I love garlic and was actually going to start making Lebanese Garlic Sauce to dip veggies in, because I love it from the local mid-eastern restaurant. However, it just seems that garlic is so strong that raw would make it

I think eating takes a lot longer when eating raw veggies. First there is a large amount as they take up a good portion of your diet. But most of all it's the chewing and chewing and chewing. Cooked food is softer and breaks up faster through chewing. While raw is harder and sometimes the tiny hard pieces go to the back of my throat (specifically broccoli and sometimes carrots. I usually have to

I was wondering what you guys do in terms of washing your fruits and veggies, as well as storage. Do you wash your organic fruits/veggies to get rid of mold or parasites, or do you not wash them to because they're organic and you want the probiotics or soil that might be on them? Do some foods require air? I ask because I have air tight containers that I was thinking about using to keep veg

There's a ton of apple, strawberry, cherry, pumpkin, and peach farms by me, but none that I see labeled as organic. They don't have to be certified organic, but Apples and Strawberries are some of the worst ones to eat when sprayed with 'cides. I'll have to look into them more to see if maybe they're organic, just not certified. Anyone from Macomb County, Michigan?

Thanks for the very informative responses. I see now more of what you are arguing. After a little more reading I may be inclined to agree. I'll be back later to read over your info.

I've heard people on this site talk about mono-diets. I'm guessing it means eat nothing but one food. I thought maybe it meant only vegetables or only fruit, but now I'm thinking it means one specific food. Such as, only grapefruit and nothing else. So....here's my questions. 1. What is the purpose of going on a mono-diet? 2. Are certain mono-diets used for specific reasons? Such as one

I don't see how you can argue that the Flu and Colds are not caused by viruses? Unless, what you are arguing is the definition of "Cause." A person would never get a cold or flu if it weren't for the viruses. A person with a strong immune system can come in contact with the viruses without getting sick. A person without a strong (enough) immune system may get sick after cont

Their site seems to suggest that it only applies to California almonds so I wrote my letter correspondingly. I haven't sent it yet though. I figured I'd post it here for re-writing by some more knowledgeable members. Hopefully someone will rewrite more on Point 2, or change it around if my understanding of it only being California is wrong. Seems like the contacts are all from California so I did

Yes, it is helpful. Everything is helpful and everything is confusing. I wish there was just A WAY. Do you add a variety of veggies to your cabbage salad, or is it just cabbage? As a side question, what did all the raw foodists here do during the raw spinach scare?

That's true and if everyone was healthy a certain level of pathogens in water would be tolerable. However, I think as an industrial society, living in close quarters, with indoor plumbing, sewage waste removal, etc. that our water would not be safe enough without decontamination. If we had spring water coming in and it was isolated from our sewage than it would probably not need so much decont

Very interesting. So you were tested to be a Protein type by Metabolic typing, but now only consume about 10% of your calories from protein? To give me a better understanding of what that means, what was your recommended intake of protein in grams based on your metabolic type and how many grams do you have now per day? I also wonder if it's the low fat that helped your GB and not your lo

Thanks Piano Gal. Greenpeach, and anyone else, since many people have problems on 80-10-10 and other diets, are there any techniques for finding what diet is right for certain people? Such as tests? I'm sure many people here don't subscribe to Dr. Mercola's system of health (as it involves animals. Though it does recommend minimum grains, and possibly raw foods. Not sure, never really looke

I'm not a raw foodist (almost have been the last few weeks though), just came here for some info, but I think that might make sense. Raw foodists eat alot of alkalizing foods, whi

I just checked it again with a 2.5 gal container of Steam Distilled Water I've had lying around. I was drinking it everyday for months before a friend led me to some info. I used pH test drops with a color scale. The scale goes from 4 - 10. 4 is Orange, 5 is yellow. The water turned out orange, a 4. It might be a light orange, but it's definitely not yellow. Here's a page with some info...

That's interesting to know Piano Gal. Had you ever had any tests to determine your Gallbladder's health? Such as checking for stones or proper emptying? If so, what were the results? Why did your brother and father have theirs removed? Stones or improper emptying?

I've read that distilled water isn't really good for long term drinking. It's good for cleansing though. I've actually tested the pH of distilled water and it is indeed acidic. I think it was around a 4. I've never heard of the Rox Slow Drip system, sounds interesting. There are also machines that filter and alkalize your water.

Thanks for the info. I'll have to pick up one of those books. I didn't really plan on going raw, but for the last week I pretty much have been. So do you not eat grains at all?

Thanks Funky Rob. Looks like beans and potatoes, high starch. Not sure if that's ideal. Greenpeach, are you saying I don't need 2700 calories? I don't observe the idea of the food pyramid being healthy, but I thought the calories would be correct since they're based on energy needed. I would have thought the energy needed would be the same for a SAD eater or a healthy eater. I think I was told

Hmmm, sounds like a good way I can add more veggies without the boring tastes and long chewing times. Few questions though... 1. Shouldn't fruit be eaten separately from everything else? I don't follow that religiously, but I'd think the extremely, health conscious people of this site would. While on that topic are tomatoes, cucumbers, etc. considered fruit to be eaten separately from veggies,

Yeah, I figured fruit would be a recommendation. I've added a couple more servings, but didn't want to overdo the sugar. How much do 100% vegetable foodist eat? It's got to be pounds upon pounds. Yes, I've looked into liver flushing. In fact I've done it a few times several years ago. However, I don't want to do that until I've been eating better for several months first, as well as taking

Perhaps a better way to address the question is... How do YOU attain your calories with healthy foods? How much fruit do you eat? How many veggies? In weight if possible. Also, please note your calorie needs, as I'm sure it's easier for smaller people. With protein and fat taken care of I'm just not sure where to get them without eatings tons more of veggies and fruit, or not ideal grains.

Hi,sorry for the double topic but I figured it would draw in people who might be able to help. I'm not a raw foodist, but have recently been eating healthier with more fruits and veggies. I've recently been diagnosed with Gallbladder Dysfunction (shown through a test that watches for GB emptying. Normal is 35%, I'm borderline low with 32.5%) and would like prevent the need for removal. So I di
