Thanks for the feedback. This is a research paper for a college course. I chose to cater my words towards the general meat eating public, so much of the information is not new to this crowd. My intent was to inform them of the detriments of meat eating, and that by reducing the amount of meat they eat to a bare minimum(zero would be optimal), their risk for many diseases reduces dramatically. I r

Ryan Weaver We are what we eat. The role diet plays on overall health has been known for sometime now. While I have never suffered from the many diseases most Americans acquire by consuming the Standard American Diet (SAD), I joined them in sickness and a lack of vibrancy and energy. Like everyone else, I only knew to look to pharmaceutical drugs for an answer to my ailments. Tired? we’v

i actually enjoy when people take interest in why i'm eating the foods i eat. i don't get offended by their comments if they are negative, because i view there comment as their stance on the issue,at that time. it has no connection to me or my beliefs. also when my views are challenged, i take it as an opprotunity to re examine my beliefs and also see how the new information presented aff

i hope i don't come across a being a jerk, but technically speaking, cucumbers, tomatoes, zucchini, and bel peppers are all fruits. sorry, i know thats not very helpful towards your dilema, but for some reason i felt it necessary to point that out... maybe it will offer new perpective about only eating fruits?

wow, its great to hear everyone's view about apples. i personally love them because of the crisp juicy crunch, and the nice balance of sweet and tart that comes from gala apples. also, i have mixed views on 'honey crisp' apples. the are THE best apple i've ever eaten. to me, perfect, to a fault. it seems too good to be true. they're perfectly balanced sweet and tart, hints of honey and citrus.

local organic gala here in virginia are 1.49/lb. me thinks the sub dollar prices per pound of produce is mostly extinct. oh well. hmmm some ways to make apples cheaper.... lets see, either increase supply or decrease demand. we could have a jonny appleseed revolution and plant lots of apple seeds. but thats the long term plan. or we could start an anti apple campaign to detract the ge

i have come across organic apples that DO have food grade wax on them. a fairly easy way to tell is 1) if they are super shiny 2) if you take a sharp knife and hold it perpendicullarly to the skind and scrape downward, carefully, you will be able to see the wax scrape off. every conventional apple i've bought in the store has this wax, as well as most other conventional fruits and vegetable

this is very interesting. here is my experience, i love apples and in the past month i've mono ate apples for a few days ate a time. In one day i'd eat about 12 apples or so,skin on. it helped clear up my skin and got my digestive system cleared out. then after about 3 days i'd go back to "poly eating" if you will. then another couple of days of mono apples. but in the past wee

my rule of thumb is: local first organic second conventional third. don't get too hung up on it. sometimes i find myself making too big a deal about food.

anaken, you quoted a very poignant statement. I feel we ARE on a mission. Not one of trumpeting loudspeakers and huge neon signs, but a quiet example of a better decision. Simply eating a carrot while on break sparks many discussions about eating raw, with employees in the restaurant. You never know how what you say to someone will influence them, even years down the road. But about the

What does SAD stand for? I understand its association with cooked foods, but what does the acronym S A D mean (if it is one)? I've been lurking for a few months now and enjoy everyone's advice, knowledge, and positions on certain subjects. It has helped me transition to mostly raw. The only problem i am having is at work. I am a professional chef and it is part of my job to create and taste
