Thanks You so much for the advice. Oh and the articles were really helpful I am a little confused, though, with the whole fat thing. With all of the reading that I have done - it seems as if the body needs fats. There are good fats (monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats) and bad fats (saturated and trans fats). The bad fats should be eliminated completely and substituted with good fats.

Hey everyone, I believe I am hyperglycemic. I use to almost pass out quite frequently and they stopped for about 4-6 months i believe. Well I actually passed out this past week...and all the symptoms lead to hyperglycemia. The doctors tried to test me for it but since the test requires you not to eat before it, I almost passed out again so they were not able to finish it...so I dont have an

i use to have the same problem and it was an iron deficiency or at least i believe. I took blood builder(iron) from Megafood (there supplements are actually from whole foods). Now you could also be deficient in b12 and vitmin C for your body will not absorb the iron correctly if you are deficient in these. It is important to make sure that you are not deficient in all three. THis has at least

Hey Dave6, I also have to be raw due to some health problems - i really dont have much choice (i cant afford to cheat on cooked food). The first couple weeks it was really hard socially but now it doesnt really bother me. I am only 19 in college and as everyone knows this is a time where you want to be social. I know no one that is raw or even vegan. I have to go to the cafeteria everyday w

I am also a college student, too...I have just turned raw this semester. I have no fridge and there are no local produce stands around here...there is a small grocery store (20 minute run to get there) but the produce isnt the greatest. I know everyone that works at the cafeteria. Last year I was a vegeterian and they always made sure there was food for me...this year they have a little salad b

This will be my first holiday season as raw. I know it is going to be tuff to be sitting at the table and seeing all my past favorite meals for Thanksgiving...but I am hoping that I will be able to stand strong. Whenever I am out with friends and I get tempted to eat cooked food, I just think of how bad I felt before being raw. I actually will probably help cook for my family (this may seem weird

42. bananas
Hey evevryone I absolutely love bananas and the texture they create in smoothies - I could eat bananas all day long. The only problem is if I eat them frequently they create constipation. Does anyone else know of any fruit that could create the same texture in my smoothies as banans? Also maybe a fruit that is similiar to the taste of a banana? Thanks ;-)

I was reading on another forum about how raw foodist try to use more natural cleaning products for our skin absorbs the chemicals of non-natural products. For example most soap have mineral oil in it which is a by product of gasoline. This could not possibly be good for our health. So after reading this I started looking around and trying to find some good natural cleaning products. Well I w

Low or very high intakes of iodine can cause hyperthyroidism. So obviously in novelista case it is due to high intake. In my case it is due to low intake of iodine. Just as ya'll have said, before treating your thyroid do lots and lots of research. When I first started taking kelp for my thyroid, i didn't do an adequate amount of research - ended up overdosing for a couple days and man it wa

hey cricri, I also was diagnosed with a thyroid problem a little more than a year ago - I have been treating it naturally with Kelp and Barley Green. I have had huge improvements by doing this. There is information on the internet, just make sure not to over dose on Kelp (can lead to problems). Also somebody told me that if you eat other seaweeds with the kelp it balances out the bad effects

I am pretty new to the raw food thing, too (about a month)...I am a college athlete and was having the same problem with being super super weak and just not being able to perform. I think I was not eating enough...i upped my calorie intake and started feeling a lot better. To get the same amount of calories of a hamburger you have to eat 7-9 bananas - when i read this it kind of put it in perspe

Hello everyone, I am new here. I've been almost all raw for about a month now (i think). Well of course friends start to ask questions. The other day some of my teammates asked me how I get my complex carbs and they stumped me - i had no clue. I know with being an athlete we have always been taught that complex carbs (breads, pasta, etc...) are essential for performance. Just wondering if y
