very intense sudden anger, as well as sadness. Heightened sensitivity against certain people, places, situations... Sometimes it felt like a roller coaster. Yes, fruit alone made the detox more intense, but the most intense detox comes from green juices for me. I transitioned slowly so it woudl come in bits and bouts.

Youa re getting advice from flipperjan. Also keep in mind that detox symptoms as you are weaning yourself off the meds can often mask the original symptoms, but are in reality detox. Going slow is the ticket. Very very slow. Also, many Doctors do not know much about this, research books by GLENMULLEN (Prozac Backlash and others). Best wishes to you!

Above posts all rock!! Wanted to add thatfor some people a gradual transition is whatveors better. I used to be of the all-or-nothing mindset, but the sudden switch thing had never really worked for me but always backfired. So I set smaller goals and made sure I was dealt firm in their achievement until I moved on to the next one. Over two years I cut out all sorts of things and if I messed

loeve, thanks so much for all the additional and in depth info. Most excellent! Fuhrman, by the way, says the goiterogenity of crucifers is a myth. It's in one of his membership talks, I know the internet is full of references about hypothyroids being advised to avoid crucifers, but he did put my mind at ease in that regard. I'll check out rhubarb again, then. I remember loving it as

isnt fruit always alkaline unless/until you eat it with anything else, where it turns acidic? I would think that apply to lemon juice as well.

loeve, I am a big fan of Dr Fuhrman's body of knowledge also. At one of his talks on oxalic acid he warns about eating raw rhubarb, however. Apparently oxalic acid is not a concern anywhere, but in raw rhubarb.

I would skip the laxative tea and do an occasional enema instead. These teas can be a stressor for theintestines and with the lax properties of wm it shouldn't be needed.

California is a great place, I imagine, if you are looking to break into an already somewhat established raw scene and are looking to take it further. Best of luck to you. Sounds like you are following your heart, so anywhere will be good

Interesting that the nutrient loss through drying is twice as high as through cooking on many vitamins. What happens when the nutrient is 'lost'? Is it washed out and disappears entirely or is it transformed/denatured? I would assume the former in the case of vitamins and the latter in the case of aminoacids, for example. Anyone know?

THere is merit in the idea that cooked food enabled natural selection that would not have been possible on a raw diet. If you had the choice between cooked (preserved/processed), meat/eggs/dairy or starving to death (because not enough calories were AVAILABLE from raw sources year round) - hey, cooked and meat will give you an evolutionary advantage! That doesn't mean, however, that it is the

I did it in stages. First I let go of wheat and sugar. THen I let go of meat. Then fish. Then dairy. THen all grains. Then oils and dressings. Then Laerabars. Then dried fruit. Bit by bit worked better for me rather than jumping in 100 percent. Each of the goals seemed attainable and it got easier on every step. It took over 2 years so far, by the way. Now I am at high raw vegan, no condiments

Ez thanks for replying. I didn't work out during juice feast, only some light yoga. Energy level wasn't that great. As for fats, unfortunately I have to make sure I eat about 15 % of calories from seeds/nuts. Mybloodwork showed my fats tone so low I am close to being unable to produce my own hormones. If it were up to me I'd do without overt fats entirely. I never felt truly great on my diet o

Hm, so I have been juice feasting for 45 days. I consumed between 1600 to 2500 calories in juices everyday. Consumed around 50% fruit juices (orange, melon, apple, pear) and 50% greens/veggies (spinach, romaine, kukes, carrots, celery, zucchini, radishes...). The bulk of the calories was probably carrot, orange and apple. I lost 18 pounds in that time. Usually I eat around the same amount of c

Great info, guys. Anyone know about the caloric effect on the body of fruit juice versus smoothies versus whole fruit? In other words, with the whole fiber added in, is the caloric NET effect smaller than with juices or smoothies? Grateful for any resource as I am just coming off a prolonged fruit and veggie juice feast. Wanting to start with eating what I have been juicing, but I surely ca

Oh yes, indeed, I have had that in the beginning and whenever I had/have a detox episode later on. Headaches are a typical detox sign, by the way, that is often helped through drinking water. You can slow down detox by eating some cooked whole grains or other vegan fare. Racing thoughts, ungroundedness and anxiety are also caused by withdrawal from certain foods, and food additives. I recomm

Hi there, well, I just returned from my second trip and still going strong. Mom (who I had visited) got out an age old juicer for me and juiced up a STORM. I am on day 44 and tomorrow is my last day. I will break with fresh watermelon, green juices and smoothies. I can definitely not deal with fruit juice only, or a lot of carrot juice and have personally heard from someone who messed up hi

wendysmiling, because I stayed away from any supplements (except my fresh vegan Omegas and my B12) during the feasting. I am getting sun instead. It seems any solids contribute to some sort of hunger.

LOL - I am the same way - I like to drink it directly out of the measuring jar that came with my juicers. My Greenstar one broke, unfortunately, but I have to nice square ones that came with my Solostar. FOr take along I will pour into reused glass Kombucha bottles.
