You guys are so cool! I dont have any raw food friends where I live now, however I do have friends that are interested in trying raw food. Mostly I feel like I am from a different world, and until I started "hanging" with you guys, I felt (dare I say) at bit crazy. This forum was finding my home planet. I love you ! Blessed to have you!

Thanks everyone. Wow, lots of nutritional contents in peanuts; but I will stick with my instinct to abstain on this one. Perhaps if I ever get the opportunity to have a fresh one, I'll try it. Blessed!

I have not tried raw peanuts. Something inside me tells me I dont need to venture in that direction. Do any of you use raw peanuts, or know any nutritional facts on it? Peace

Its a blue-green algae. I have tried that specific brand, I buy spirulina from the bulk herb section at my local co-op. I like it (when mixed with something to sweeten the taste) and so does my family, including my almost 2year old and her year old cousin. I have used powder, but I imagine the liquid to be not much different. I but it in smoothies with banana and strawberries, and pies. It turns

I have also noticed changes in my emotions. For me raw food is not just a diet, but a way of life, because it changes EVERYTHING. I am still struggling with going 100% raw, and thats because of handling my emotions. Trying to keep balanced is not always easy for me, but as I learn more about myself (like I need to be warm and eat protein first thing in the morning), it is getting easier every da

I am on day 4 of no shampoo/ conditioner (and no body soap). So far so good; I have long (waist length) wavy hair, that I thought needed conditioner. I guess the conditioner was needed only after stripping the natural oils with shampoo.

roxeli -- me too, I will go "no poo" with you. My parthner laughs at my no toothpast/toothbrush routine. He says when he buys us a house he'll make sure there is a big tree in the back yard for me to live in. I said "cool !". Im on a mission to try to eliminate using/ buying stuff.

For you guys not using toothpaste, does that include no toothbrush? I have been using baking soda and sea salt to clean my teeth for about 8 months now, Ive been trying to think up a toothbrush replacement. 2 weeks ago I started using a licorice stick, works, I hope it doesnt turn my teeth yellow.

Thanks rost0037, seeds and avocados are also easy, sunflower, hemp, and flax seeds are a part of our daily diet. She (my 2yr old) eats avocado about every other day, or every day when we get some good ones (good avocados are not easy to find in northeast USA). Dried fruit, fresh fruit, nuts, those are easy to feed her (she eats it), smoothies are the only way I have found to give her greens. And

So its been about two months on raw. I have lost weight, which is not what I would like. The first time I went raw I gained weight and was delighted about it. I do feel good. I have energy and strength, which is what really matters. I am sure its just a matter of time before I start putting the weight back on. I do believe that on a healthy raw diet you will reach your optimum weight. But its win

Has any of you tasted coconut from the Carribean? After growing up in the West Indies, Thai coconuts are hard to swallow. At first I thought perhaps I have gotten rotten ones, but its been years, I have tried them from different merchants, and I just cant swallow the stuff. Has anyone else experienced this, or is it just me?

I was not able to tell. It is not labeled differently; does not say "pasteurized" or "irradiated". I have heard that proper labeling is in the works. The whole thing is sad. I guess asking your grocer would be one way of knowing if it is really raw or not. I think I will be making hemp milk for a while. Haida

My daughter is 19months and would really like to cleanse. Since going mostly raw the cleansing process started I guesss; my face is not as smooth as it use to be. I thought cleansing would help. Going without eating is not a good option for me. I believe I am hypoglycemic, Im one of those people that need to eat something every couple of hours, or I get very unbalanced. Perhaps I will try the fru

I have decided to do a certain yoga exercise for cleansing. I feel I should do a cleanse, but dont want to take herbs because Im still nursing; so the Shatkama (sp.?). After doing a series of postures you drink salt water and run to the toilet, I think about 8 times. After thats all over you are supposed to eat a dish of rice and splitpeas that has been cooked a certain way to line the stomach. A

Does anyone know whats going on with the almonds in the USA? Have they been irradiating all almonds coming in to the states, even the "raw" almonds? Thats what I have heard. If this is true, do any of you still eat the so-called "raw" almonds? Haida

phantom, I plan on homeschooling! Ofcourse, unless you move to a raw community, there will always be cooked foods out there, OR WORSE. All we can do is guide our kids the best we can, the rest is up to them. Haida

Hi, it is wonderful to have found this forum! Raw food is becoming more popular, however, in my neck of the woods there aren't many raw and living people ( ha!) to chat with. So it is time to move the family raw. Any suggestions for toddlers? My daughter is 19months. She will eat alot of the raw foods I prepare, many fruits, nuts and seeds (ground or in a milk form); but she LOVES bread. Bread,

I enjoy herbal teas. Black tea, and most teas with caffeine I do not drink. However, I have a cup of herbal tea everyday. Our tea cabinet has over ten varieties of herbal teas. During the summer I let the tea bag sit in room temp. water or brew it in the sun, but during winter I do like hot tea. How do you prepare your tea? Do you drink herbal teas? Heat water? I dont let the water boil, I do not

I would look at what the coconut meat is used for in the recipe, and try using something else. Agar agar for cosistency, or perhapes soaked and peeled almonds, or soaked cashews can substitute. Blassed! Haida

55. gassy
Hello Has anyone experienced any gas problems on raw food. I had thought it was because I was eating cooked foods at times; but it seems to occur even on a close to 100% raw. I believe I am of vatta/pitta constitution if that helps. I thought it possibly be too much fruit or fruit as the wrong hour, or not enough liquids. Sometimes I drink too much water and feel spacey. Any suggestions?
