aquadeco... I worked at capers when I got to Vancouver and for some reason the technical field just didn't realize what the hell I had a degree in technical communication for. SFU and UBC and BCIT only offer certificate programs... plus they said I didn't have Canadian experience... anyway I digress. The people who work at capers are pretty cool. Berlinpathos... say what you want about whole foods.. I've done the personal research... they charge more for conventional produce much of the time than do standard grocery stores. this merger will not lower any prices in the organic community... actually whole foods and wild oats, generally, seem to have fewer organic produce choices than do other natural food stores... this is my experience but I've compared them in quite a few major markets like Seattle, San Diego, NYC, Minneapolis, San Francisco and Vancouver Canada.

ok... for most people who do the raw thing it is a LOT more expensive.. especially if you do something like shop at whole foods, or whole extortion as I like to call it ... but hey their business model is effective.

oooooooooooorrrrr you could simply soak a bunch of sesame seeds like I do for a couple hours and then throw them in the food processor.. if you want it more runny just ad some sesame oil.
Imported and jarred tahini like that is NOT RAWWWW! but if it works.. go with it. Their raw simply means it's not roasted. They heat the jars to get them to seal.

basically all you have to do is look up the contact info for all the products you are buying frozen and call them. Also you can make it seem sorta like you want them to not be raw. It's a little underhanded but you generally get an honest answer. I've gotten two different answers about products depending on which side of the fence it seems like I'm sitting.

Hey guys... I'm here in San Francisco for the morning and early afternoon... I head down to San Jose later afternoon. Can anyone tell me a good place to grocery shop in San Francisco? I have a vehicle and will just throw it in our cooler and bring down to San Jose. the only places I can find down in San Jose online are Whole Foods... and I don't feel like shopping there. coconut... that is simply one of the greatest ideas I've ever heard! I'm not kidding!!! good stuff!!! I'll start this summer after we move and my daughter and I will make it a weekly thing... no one will even know or care... there will be peach trees everywhere!

raw almonds are still available here... also, I would suggest calling Anderson Almonds in California directly. I'm almost positive he will ship unpastuerized directly from his farm. He said many of his customers are raw foodists.

enchantress.. are you shopping at capers or choices? You can get durians at the superstore for a LOT LESS!!!! and they are quite tasty. Also, brave the Vancouver chinatown and watch what others are paying for the same thing and make sure they don't overcharge you if you are caucasian. The proprietors in Vancouver's chinatown are famous for overcharging people who don't understand Mandarin.

thanks for sharing.. one step at a time... one step at a time. How about letting them change at their own pace and becoming increasingly more healthy and vibrant as they go along. I don't really eat grains at all now. I used to when I first went raw but I don't see the point in pressuring people with abject negativity when they will simply find out what works for themselves.

KelBel.. apparently you can get some raw from raw websites. From what I've heard most oat groats, even if they are raw have been heat treated. The best way to test is to just buy some. They don't cost that much and see if you can sprout them. If ya can... well they be raw then. If not they are dead... there are a lot of things that are heat treated that you can actually still sprout which is amaz
