It just surprises me. How can someone not like fruit and almonds? I guess if you're used to eating pie crust made from LARD, anything fresh would taste just foreign to you! I don't think I'll be participating in any more potlucks at work. They don't like my food and I don't eat their's, so, I'll quietly bring my own and let them enjoy theirs. Edited to add: I'm learning that eating raw

We had a pie day at work. (I don't know why except to say that this is Minnesota.) I brought a raw pie. Blueberry, Strawberry and Banana Pie. The fruit was half frozen and processed into a sorbet like consistency. The crust was made from almonds, dates, cinnamon, nutmeg and a little fresh squeezed orange juice blended in a food processor. My coworkers didn't like it. (I don't know why

baltochef, The question about blender prices was asked openly and sincerely, not slyly. Any mistaken notions about the prices were/are innocent ones and did not require bashing or scolding. It's too bad that you could not give the benefit of the doubt and explain more civily. Think about it from my point of view. A blender. Yes, it's better quality and yes it lasts longer. No one dis

QuoteThe short answer is NO.. Works for me. I'm partial to chefs and take their advice regularly. QuoteA quality kitchen appliance should last for decades if not abused.. Quality being the key word. The ones I've tried have all been rubbish and needed replacing within two years. That didn't stop them from charging an arm and a leg, though. Will have to look in past posts to see which j

David said, QuoteThe hardest part for many....even ones that don't realize it....is really the SOCIAL aspect. Even long-term raw food people come up against it. Me personally, I have a sort of punk-rocker, mis-spent youth background....so being accomodating socially is important to show love to others...but has never been my major focus. As such, whipping out an apple (or just not eating) whil

I haven't but you'll still find conflicting information when it comes to this because there are those who firmly believe that ALL plastic leeches chemicals. There's nothing to be done about it. We just have to do the best we can and not let it steal our joy in living. If you decide to get the Vita-Mix 5200, let us know how you like it!

I haven't done the juicefeast, yet, but I'm very excited to once I get my feet wet with the raw lifestyle for awhile, first. I'm planning it so that I get off the feast in plenty of time for the holiday meals at the end of the year. I just wanted to congratulate you on your decision to do the juice feast and encourage you! Keep us up with how it's going, ok?!

Rather than spending beaucoup bucks on a blender AND a juicer, is there a decent machine that does both? I admit upfront that I've not done any research on this, yet. Life is crazy for me right now!

Great thread, EZ rider. I agree with carsick8 in that it's incredibly disheartening to find out how toxic our environment actually is. Some people may not understand this, but I grieve over what we've done to the planet. I'm not a tree-hugging, save the whales, advocate either. Just look at your situation, EZ rider, you're admirably, 100% raw and still go through occasional detox. That sho

Thank you, mira. I participated in that thread, myself. Unfortunately, it went off topic and the question was never really answered. Not to my satisfaction, anyway. One person makes a suggestion and then the rest of the thread is debating that suggestion. No one spoke about actually washing their produce.

Thank you! That looks great! If I can't convert the recipe below into a raw one, this could work! I like your idea of covering the top with kiwis! I just found the recipe below and was wondering if there was a way to make it raw. I can make my own pie crust, and probably use ground almonds instead of cornstarch and nix the food coloring altogether. Can I substitute a small amount of agave

I don't like the Search feature on this site. Unless I'm a total idiot, I never find what I'm looking for. (Which is okay because I usually find a lot of other really interesting things!) I agree with you, WY, but when you're new to something, or just looking for other people's experiences, their suggestions can be pretty limiting and not so helpful. "I love it!" is great to hear, but people often have a difficult time putting into words why they love/hate it. I thought this article was well written with great explanations. (And I'm right there with you on Fords.

The BEST Juicer, Is there one? by John Kohler Often times, we are asked, "which is the best juicer?". Choosing a juicer is like a choosing an outfit to wear. If your going swimming, you will wear a bathing suit. If you are going to a formal occasion, you will wear an tuxedo. Choosing a juicer is much the same. You must match the juicer to what you intend to do with the j
