QuoteI saw them for sale at Kroger too. I haven't been Krogering in years! Oh shoot, now you've done gone and made me crave some sweet tea! There are times I miss Tennessee.... I'll have to see if I can find some of those bags. It seems unnatural to keep fruit and veggies for weeks, though. A little eerie!

phantom, I appreciate you posting this article. I've often heard the praises of colloidal silver and have often wondered about it, especially, now, from the perspective of a raw foods website. I haven't read the article yet but I definitely intend to. Thank you!

QuoteSimple Living- I find that the most important thing for keeping greens fresh in the fridge is keeping them from getting dehydrated by the fridge, which is actively pulling moisture out of the air at all times to prevent frost build-up. When I can't seal them in an air tight space (e.g. a crisper, a tupperware, or a plastic bag) it helps to dampen a cloth towel and either wrap the greens in i

There are grocery delivery services available, but, as phantom mentioned, it's nice to pick out your own produce. I'm very fussy with it. I'm looking forward to moving at the end of April. Being without transport, I'm going to make sure that I live as close to a grocery store as possible. I usually do anyway, but now it's more important to me. Greens seem to wilt after two days in my fri

There's so much to say about this topic and, at the same time, very little to say about it. The fact is, America IS obsessed with looks. Culturally, for many, many years, women have been expected to shave armpits and legs. (By men, women, Hollywood and the Media.) This has conditioned society to prefer women this way. Now, it looks "unnatural" for women not to shave. If a wo

Going raw turned out to be pretty easy for me. - Food. Check! Tasty goodness and my body encouraged a complete change. - Creativity. Check! No lack for this. Loving that I can keep it simple, too. - Education. Check! You guys have been, in my opinion, my best resource. Actual people, not gurus. So, what's the hardest change for me in going raw? - Grocery shopping TEN times

I'm not in New York, but I'm right there with you. I think taking uncooking classes would be a lot of fun. For no other reason, to meet others in your community who are living the raw foods life. I hope you find some classes. And I agree with maui_butterfly, YouTube is great for cooking demos as well as encouragement, information and events in the raw food life. These demos won't likely

Here are some of the supposed benefits of aloe. Has anyone experienced any of them? QuoteJuice is also taken from the aloe vera leaves. The bitter juice is often prepared as a flavored drink and is used to help with digestive problems. Aloe vera contains numerous vitamins and minerals, enzymes, amino acids, natural sugars and agents which may be anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial. The comb

If we start worrying about the purity of everything, we'll either starve to death or go insane. Nothing in this world is "pure" anymore. What's more, if you only consumed, and used, what was pure, you still wouldn't have the guarantee of perfect health. You wouldn't be promised lack of illness. In fact, you'd just have other types of sufferings because your body would be so pure, it

Got one? How do you like it? It seems like it would be really handy to bring to work. I don't have/watch television, so I'm assuming this is an infomercial product. (I saw someone on YouTube using one.) I'd love to know what those who have one think of it! It ain't a VitaMix, I'm sure, but is it worth owning?

I have to agree with that. There's no denying that being around the smell of cooked foods triggers wanting some. There's no avoiding it in my office. Breakfast and lunch both fill the office with the aroma of cooked foods. I work at the Federal Reserve Bank and we have a cafeteria and a restaurant. Breakfast is my favorite meal, so I must admit to missing those. And my coffee and tea with C

Every forum needs a thread devoted to the lighter side of itself. I found a website that I thoroughly enjoy about the raw food life. It's called www.rawfoodmedia.com Has anyone here spent any time on it? I love the video section! It's incredibly informative, educational, fun and FUNNY! I've learned how to open coconuts, make the most amazing looking chocolate smoothie, how to prevent mu

LOL I'm not afraid of onions. It's not like a fear of some scary, creepy-face, glow-in-the-dark clown that never utters a word

Thanks EZ rider. I checked out the website of the young woman in the video you recommended and I'm having a lot of fun with it! VERY interesting to see what chocolate looks like before it's "chocolate." Something I noticed about the raw food life - it's fun and adventurous! Just like many of the people who live it!

That video was extremely helpful, EZ rider! This is how I will attempt to do it. This video led me to another one of someone with an amazing skill at opening coconuts! Watch this guy! When you blend the meat and the water together, do you eat/drink it all at once or do you store it in the refrigerator?

I was at Whole Paycheck, I mean, Whole Foods today and I asked an employee if they have raw olives. He looked alarmed that I would ask such a question so we both went to another employee and she looked equally as alarmed. The three of us then went to a third employee and he said, "No, I'm sorry. You'll have to order them online. Try...." I looked at the other two and said jokingly,

On YouTube, there's a video at Juliano's restaurant and he introduces a young woman whose parents were raw since before she was born. She was raised on raw and now worked at the restaurant. Raw is all she's ever known and she's never had a shot of any kind in her life - no inoculations. I thought that was very interesting.

How do you do this, 1) without making a mess, 2) without losing the water, and 3) how do you separate the meat from the shell? I see conversations here about coconut water and wonder how many coconuts people are buying to get a good amount of it? Or, have I misunderstood and people are buying their coconut water and milk separately instead of getting the water directly from the coconut or mak

I'm in the market for a blender and juicer. They're the only two pieces of equipment I want, but I don't want to mess around with one only to find that two years down the road it wears down or that the carafe leaks. If I'm going to pay $600 for a freaking blender, it had doggone better come with Oprah included. (Not really, I can't stand that woman.) So, I'm looking for hard facts and exper

But what makes blender parts worth $500 - $600? What are the parts used that are priced out at that rate? Surely, it's not costing the blender makers nearly that much to make them! Mark-up has to be around 500%! It seems like they're taking advantage of the public - healthy and culinary folks - who want them.

What gives? Why do these things cost more than many people in third world countries make in five years? I know they're good and they do the jobs that many ordinary blenders don't do, but does that mean they're worth 1000% more in price? In my opinion, it's price gouging and greed.

Indian food is my all-time favorite. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE curry! Channa Masala is a particular favorite of mine! I don't intend to give up spices. They bring too much pleasure to my life. I receive all of my Indian spices from a small market in India. As long as they are not chemically processed, I'm fine with spices. I want to be at least a month into raw foods before integrating spices tho

Even though I know that eating a cooked meal already makes my gut feel like it's been bombed, I was wondering how those of you who do not eat simply whole fruits and ve
