I live in California and can get them in some farmer's markets and organic produce stores. Also, middle eastern and latino markets sometimes carry them as well. I think they are just coming into season now. Although somebody once told me they grow year around, I normal only seem in the stores from April to July. Pick the onces with the greenest pods, if the pod is turning yellow, they will

I stopped eating all cooked food over night (actually, it was morning), I did a 5 or so day water fast and then only ate raw goods. I didn't really notice any of the detox problems other talk about. If you've got the "all or nothing" personality, the straight 100% method might be the best path, rather than trying to monitor a long drawn out transition. Good luck, Ian.

It is raw, it sure isn't Vegan. So doesn't really have any place on board. Odds are an admin will come a long and delete this thread since it's not vegan. Ian.

Hi Jono, For everybody wondering what Jono is talking about, Tahoe is a lake (and a City) in northern California which is a host to many ski resorts. Very pretty area. I don't know much about the markets there, but they do a have an organic cafe, which while it isn't really a raw foods place, I was able to get a nice yummy salad there. I figure they are getting nice yummy fresh ingredient

Thanks Pistachio! I don't think this is some much figment of someones imagination, but the approach of LEF is too focused on hating the FDA ("COMMIES IN THE WOOD PILE! COMMIES IN THE WOOD PILE!" to be useful. The pdf is a much better read than the first article, thanks for sharing. (From page 12 of pfd) "To illustrate how a CAM practice might involve "foods", ju

Do you have a less biasis article? That was kind of (very) anti-FDA, in fact since they seem to focus more being anti-FDA than on the actually effects this action could have, I must take that with a pinch of salt. I'm not pro-FDA or anything, but I can't accept information which is heavily unbalanced. It could turn out to be a mistake or nothing... Thanks, Ian.

Ock 'eye, I'm sure you'll find some raw Scots. I visit Scotland once in a while (I was born and raised there, my family still lives on the northwest coast). I would certainly love to hookup with the raw fooders then next time I'm Scotland (probably in the next year or two). Good luck on your search! Cheers, Ian.

I once met I guy who claimed to be a meat eater, but he had carrots, peas on potatos on his plate. I was going to point out that he wasn't a real meat eater since he was eating vegetables, but it's his path, if he wants to lie to himself about being a meat eater, it's probably not my place to stop him. Anyway, I didn't know honey was ok for raw vegans, since Inaia and some others say it's OK,

Wine (unless made with some strange process involving chemicals or something I don't know about) is raw vegan, as are champains and cider. At least if they have been made with traditional methods (i.e. not using concentrated juices, additives, etc). I include those things in my lifestyle. I like beer as well, but this doesn't fit into my lifestyle (I think I've developed a mild wheat allergy

It's a mad man's rantings the last time I looked. I haven't really been motivated check out an changes. Sometimes the nutty owners of the site post here, but it's normally just stuff to sell things on their website. I found them kind of rude, also I thought the things they claimed and the tone they claimed them in to be detrimental to the image and promotion of the raw vegan life style.

140. Re: Wine?
Yes, if it's not made from something abnormal. The tipical wine making process does not heat the grape, so I think it's fair to concider it raw (other people have a problem with fermentation, but this isn't specific to wine). Champers can also be concidered raw. This is all from my point of view of course, other people have other points of view. Cheers, Ian.

Hehe, this title gave me a chuckle. From this and other threads I've yet to see people agree on what a fruitarian is, yet alone settling the controversy that seems to come with it. My definition of a fruitarian always works... "A person who believes everything they eat is a fruit." ;-) Cheers, Ian.

Becareful when believing the companies marketing "HP" rating. I think they just put "HP" in the name of the blend to make it seem cool. I'm have a hard time finding out the correct Motor rating for the Vita-Prep 3. According to this site: The Vita-Prep 3 has any where from a 900Watt motor to 1200Watt motor (a little over 1 horsepower to a bit under 2 horsepower). I

Hi Greenie, interesting coment about the fan and noise. The noise generated by your 9 tray could have been because of a faulty component. Generally, the bigger the fan the quieter it is - this is because big fans can rotate slower while still moving the same volume of air as a fast little fan. My D10 has a BIG fan and I can bearly tell if it's on or not (my smaller plastic dehydrator was so
