And that (from the list above) is just the new stuff!
Now, I'll grant you that these items are better for human
nutrition than Twinkies, donuts, and French fries, My
only issue with them is in the labeling, and in the
promulgation of these foodstuffs as being "raw." You
really have to get very fuzzy with definitions to call
any of that (from above) "raw."

Health is simple, man makes it complicated? Ain't
that the truth! In fact, I'd venture to say that's
true for just about everything in life. (Of course,
there's a difference between simple and "simplistic."
I just received an enthusastic e-mail about all the
great "raw food" products at the Raw Spirit festival.
Naturally, there wasn't anything recognizable to

To me, the bottom line is that if you're not growing
your own food, you're relying on someone else to
provide you with it. And the safety, and quality,
of that food isn't always going be known.
For strictly, 100%-Raw-Organic eaters, you'll probably
want to stay away from the young cocunuts.
But for people who eat some (or a lot of) cooked foods,
junk foods, alchohol, etc, I'm gu

I think the seepage would depend on the length of
time exposed to poison. Are these coconuts dipped
in the poison for 30 seconds? Or do they soak in
the stuff for an entire month?
There's a big difference, obviously, between what
could happen inside a coconut for 30 seconds of
exposure and what could happen after 30 days of
soaking. (It's probably somewhere in between...

I know the issue of irradiated coconuts has made numerous
appearances on this message board over the years, and I'm
not sure if there was ever a definitive answer? (Maybe
someone can help us out here?)
But as for the soaking coconuts in poison, yes that is
true. That's because the coconuts don't come nicely
shaped and lily white in Nature. No, they are cut
down to size from what is

Well, I think it's hilarious! (I base my
opinion on the uproarious laughter that came
out of my mouth!)
We can all be politically correct and never
offend everyone by being ultra-polite and never
having strong opinions, but that's not where
progress/innovation/initiation/meaning/purpose/etc.
is ever found, psychologically.

Yeah, they had that juice, Suvine. But I
certainly don't think it was Raw. Not how
I think of RAW, anyway.
I've been to Raw Festivals before and there
was always RAW food, in great abundance. In fact,
Doug Graham's Raw Passion events (held earlier this
decade at various venues) included (for about $100
for the day) all the RAW food you could eat!
Including Durian!

My understanding (though I make to claim to expertise on
this subject) is that animals in Nature do not bleed during
their fertility cycles. Only humans and domesticated pets (that
eat cooked pet foods) bleed. That ought to tell us something,
if it's true.
And I once came across some Raw Food literature in which
the author said he once saw a study done on ballerinas

Yeah Suvine,
I thought the same thing last year. Where's the
RAW FOOD????!!! Unfortunately, I went up there with
some friends last year (from Phoenix) for one day;
and I only had juice before we left. I get up there
and there's absolutely NO RAW FOOD except for that
pittace of a meal they serve you. (Now I could
understand the meals they served; they were trying

71. Re: so confused
I don't really think of the fruitarian diet as strictly
one of just fruit. (Just as being "Raw" doesn't always
necessarily mean being strictly 100% "raw."
I think it means eating mostly fruits, supplemented by
Vegetables (of which many are actually fruits: tomatoes,
avocadoes, zucchini, cucumbers, bell peppers) and nuts.
I also think of this diet as one that to reall

Another problem here is that it might take the
medicos and politicos 40 years of "studies" to
come to the conclusion: Maybe this stuff (altered
food) isn't so good for people. (As it is now,
they're only up to recommending 5
servings of fresh/cooked Veggies/fruits a day.)
Or maybe they'll all just bury their heads in the
sand and never do any of their so-called "studi

Like I said, I like Doug. And I think he's great for the
Raw movement. (Esp. with most of the rest of the so-
called "gurus" pushing processed foods as "raw" on us.)
All he has to sell us, then, is his knowledge.
Now, if I was a newbie I could probably more-easily believe
the incredulity on Doug's part. But the fact is that

accessible person. (Unlike some other "gurus"
that won't give you the time of day until
you're lining their pockets in some way.)
He's always been very open and friendly
towards me; and he's always answered my
e-mails in a very timely fashion.
Though, I found it a little insulting when he

It's interesting, as I read the posts above,
to see the emphasis on food, and so-called
food "triggers."
Now I don't doubt people have certain comfort
foods that they're attracted to (I can relate
to that), but at the same time, food really
isn't the cause of bingeing. It just takes
the blame.
The cause is a mental one. A psychological
one. It's the same cause wheneve

I love it any time someone is promoting powdered "food"
on a Raw Food message board; calling these processed

something else like that.
It sort of reminds me of hanging around all those

Yeah, I'm not exactly sure what "brain skrinkage"
means in the first place! Maybe it's not such a
bad thing.
We already know that SAD eaters typically have big
heads (over their zeal for cooked foods) in the first
place, so maybe a little brain skrinkage is in order.

Hey, there might actually be more nutrients in garbage on
floor than what's in cooked almonds!
But seriously, the life in a food is cooked out of it when
you pasteurize foods. Raw Nut enthusiasts, fortunately,
are helping to put out the pasture the practice of cooking
nuts to death!

It's interesting, in scientific studies done on giving,
that when we do someone else a favor we tend to like
the other person more. (Not vice versa.) That act of
kindness is good for our own mental well-being. There's
something about giving that nourishes the heart.
Whereas the receiver of our giving, on the other hand,
tends to like us the same. Though, I'm sure there are

It's always great to see Raw food attention
in the media. Though, interestingly, this
article says nothing (unless I overlooked it)
about TASTE!!!
Since most SAD eaters talk about how important
the taste of food is to them, I would think that
would be a major selling point for Raw food.
Unfortunately, many non-Raw people can't taste
the subtle flavors of some foods; nor do SAD

Eating Raw is not necessarily a guarantee of never
getting sick. Particularly if you're not living healthfully
in other ways. Stress, a lack of sleep, inadequate
fresh air/pure water/sunshine, etc. can contribute
to a toxic buildup; of which the body will seek to
eliminate in the form of a cold or some other body-
cleansing ailment.
What I've done throughout my Raw experiences is if

To summarize:
1)FDA rules prohibit the irradiating of organic produce.
2)Irradiated produce must be labeled at retail stores (but
it does not have to be labeled in restaurants, schools,
hospitals, nursing homes, etc.)

Cancer, like all other diseases, is the result of
long-term blood toxicity. To truly get well, a
person needs to remove the cause of the problem.
(That is those mental/physical habits that brought
about the problem in the first place.)
I've seen plenty of Vegans over the years who are
extremely obsese. And, I'm guessing, they have
many of the same health blood toxicity problems

In my opinion, the psychology behind wanting to nuke

rooted in fear that is then projected onto the rest

The results, however, make people less able to think

If there is a demand for non-irradiated produce then it
can exist commercially, long-term, unless it's outlawed
(which is entirely possible in the name of "public safety".
It's also possible that large grocery chains such as
Kroger, Safeway, Super Value, Whole Foods, etc. will
refuse to carry irradiated produce. (Hopefully that
will be the case but I doubt it.) This entire

If I'm not mistaken, beef is required to be irradiated
and it is not labeled as such.
And packaged spices are also typically irradiated unless
they specifically state on the label as being "nonirradiated."
I can only guess that irradiated produce will not require
labeling because this was an FDA decision, not something
that required by law in the first place.
And, unfor
