When I was 2, I was set outside in my stroller under the magnolia tree and a bee came along and alighted on my foot. I shook my foot to see what would happen and the bee stung me. My grandmother gardening nearby ran over and tried to soothe me by saying, "Oh, because the bee stung you, he will die, don't cry." To which I responded by sobbing that I didn't want the bee to die, why sho

Thanks for posting this; my lymphatic system hasn't been working as well as it should this last year, and I know this is partly due to my stress responses.

Ive seen this one before; he's been featured all over the Tee Vee shows. It is overstated that something or other will be "inspirational," but this man's story truly IS. Thanks for reminding me about him, and about the saying that you have failed only when you stop striving to reach your goal

I've recently gone back to checking into Shazzie's blog regularily. She was the raw celeb that got me into this lifestyle--I stumbled across her previous blog a few years ago and spent a weekend reading about ten years' worth of entries, and was convinced to give it a try! I too value her sensible "personalize-it" approach to diet and lifestyle. Also, her new TV show on the U.K.'s Th

It isn't at all surprising to me that someone with an advanced metastatic cancer would be actively acidic; cancer cells cannot survive if the extra-cellular environment surrounding them is alkaline and, being acidic in chemistry, angeogenic masses canot be successful if blood and other fluids entering them are alkalizing. That's what effects so called homeostasis. Thanks for posting the link,

Prism, Lustig's work does focus on HFCS; I think he refers to fructose generally for audience comprehension purposes, but his research has not concentrated on childhood metabolic problems from high fruit diets--these don't exists. It isn't natural fructose from fruit that taxes the liver, according to this video. It's HFCS. Lustig has tended to conflate the "fructose" with "

Prism, I am familiar with Lustig's work; he specializes in the treatment of endocrine disorders in mostly obese pre-teens and teens. His research focuses on synthetic high fructose corn syrup, which is metabolized differently by the liver than natural fructose, as found in whole fruits and veggies. He cautions that large influxes of concentrated fructose may over time cause instability in th

powerlifer, QuoteDo you know if his protocol has success out of interest ? Well, the state medical board of Texas has tried to strip him of his medical license for no apparent legal reason--and failed at this, for having no apparent legal reason--repeatedly. There were too many patients willing to testify as to the efficacy of his protocol for the prosecutor to be able to make a case of mal

Prism, Basically, certain amino peptides, what Burzynski classified as antineoplastons, are present in the blood of cancer free individuals, but lacking in that of cancerous or cancer-prone individuals. They act as cell division suppressors, and also activate tumor suppressor genes as a two-prong biological action against aberrant cells. It is presently unknown whether there are people genet

Please bear in mind that this correspondence is speculative and also almost 13 years old, raw_curious. I think it's important to consider it, but, as nothing has corroborated this speculation(nor debunked it) in the meantime, one can't say it's the last word on Braggs. Of which I am not a fan, btw

coco, Seasoned cast iron is a cinch to use and care for; just don't immerse it in water. I rescued a couple of old cast iron pans from my humid basement. I scoured the rust off with two different grades of sandpaper in turn, then brushed the shavings completely off the surfaces. Then, I rubbed the pans with peanut oil and roasted them and cooled them completely, then repeated the roasting a

Prism, I wish you luck with this, but second powerlifer in suggesting green juices, as an adjunct, at least--they keep you mineral intake up and don't affect blood sugar adversely. Make sure to consume enough of these liquids, also. Keep us posted

Pamela, I don't think it's like hitting "reverse" on an assembly line conveyor belt; that's not how the body works. It's whatever tissues are superficially or deeply expunging their stored toxins at any given time, and there's no way to exactly predict where these regions lie and why they are detoxifying now. Considering that there is no way to be completely cleared--because of how

The powder shouldn't be doing it; are you supplementing with probiotics anyway, to outcompete the fungi? IMO, that would be a good idea.

I am responsible for Thanksgiving dinner, and always try to source the most humanely raised bird possible. It was difficult this year to actually buy the turkey; I truly felt that I was feeding my loved ones bad Karma, so I made sure everything else on the table was high fiber, vegetarian, organic, fair trade, etc. I know that I am getting to the point where I will not be able to compartmentali

This was interesting, Paul; thanks for posting. Information like this needs to be more widely disseminated, because there is still resistance to the hypothesis that a plant based diet is cancer preventive. For example: Last week on the Canadian afternoon chat show,"Steven & Chris," the dietician they are featuring this season was on to discuss foods that protect against cancer.

Bill, so, so sorry about this. Please do make sure that before they do anything, they determine whether the tumor is external--these are easy to excise with minimal surgery. If the entire one must go, provided your sister has good kidney function in the remaining one, she should do OK with only one and monitoring. I hope for the best for your sister. She is fortunate to have you looking out

Hi, Amy. Sorry this has been your experience. At your age, your body was still growing, and had different nutrient needs than the body of an adult. A diet higher in unprocessed plant foods than animal foods is always better than the reverse ratio, so I'd encourage you to keep striving toward making your days, if not your individual meals, as raw as possible. The best way to do this is to not
