481. Re: raw kale
Well, it might also be that you're not chewing the kale enough. It's a rougher leaf than most of the salad greens and might just be harder to digest if not chewed properly. If that's the problem, putting kale in your smoothies might solve it. I often do that with kale and all sorts of other greens. It's far more digestible than having them in salads. I love kale in smoothies.

dream earth,
"You need to sprout them for seven days, not just soak them; then they will be safe to eat. (I don't understand why none of the posters above bothered to just point this out?)"
???? You pronounce that as a fact, but it's not my experience or, obviously, the experience of other people. What leads you to believe that?

483. Re: Teflex Sheets
I don't use the teflex and never felt comfortable with them, even before the research came out. I just untreated, undyed baking parchment paper. It works fine and is non-toxic.

I make a delicious raw hummus out of raw chickpeas and eat plenty without a trace of indigestion. I don't know whether or not I'm getting different type of chick pea than the one in your store.
I failed at making a good-tasting raw hummus for a long time, it always came out very bitter. Then I found the secret: I soak and sprout the beans for 2-3 days and rinse them 2-3 times a day like crazy

It's easy to go raw when you have the food available. It just takes preparation.
To get that heavy feeling, try a nutmilk: soaked almonds, raw almond butter, water, and soaked dates blended up in a good blender. Add some raw cacoa nibs and/or carob or vanilla, or cinnamon. If you don't have dates, sweeten it with some maple syrup or agave nectar. Wow! I've made it without the raw almond butt

This is probably just my bias speaking, but isn't this just science du jour and about to be supplanted by the next science du jour?
Where do they get the figures of protein requirements anyway?
I'd rather see proper studies of effects of real diet on real people.

I like 'em with a nut sauce: soaked cashews, lemon juice, a little water, some miso, garlic, and anything else you want to put in - soaked sun-dried tomatos, basil, any herbs, onion. Oooo. I'm getting hungry and it's the 4th day of a fast. I'm outta here!
