Oh, you just have to tough it out. I've done it many times, gone through the fog, the killer headache, the cravings. Just keep up drinking all the water you can and remember, all things pass, including the headache. You'll feel much better soon.

I have trouble staying raw so I'm not so physically, but for some reason I could never stand that stuff on my skin. I can't wear nail polish either, or deal with perfumes. They all smell like bug spray to me, very toxic. What I don't 'get' at all are the raw foodies who get breast implants. I mean, this just does not compute.

Most of the ingredients in perfumes, including the scents added to hand creams, shampoos, soaps, etc., have to be disposed of as toxic waste and are known carninogens. Google 'perfume' and 'toxic' and you'll never wear that stuff again.

You are lucky to get limes for 28¢, they cost over 50¢ (US) here in Iowa. Lemons cost between 89¢-$1.29 and grapefruits are over $1.00. Those are prices for organic fruit. The limes are ok but the oranges are mostly dry old and sour, and the lemons are very small and don't give much juice. I've quit buying all but the limes. Pretty outrageous.

Elayne, I've visited North Dakota in the winter so I commiserate with you! I use cilantro and parsley in my smoothies all the time. They are great. I love all the greens, by the way, kale included. I live in Iowa and for a few winters I cold-framed -- that is, I grew veggies all winter, outside, under plastic. There are a lot of good books on the subject, the best is Elliot Coleman's 4

Nora, Thank you for posting this, it was just what I need to hear right now. I'm on day 5 of a fast and have been struggling with diet for a while. Despite my knowing better, the 'shoulds' have crept into what I eat and I think that's been the problem. Fruit is almost always the most natural thing for me to eat. Thanks to all for being here, and to Nora and Fruitarion One for their great e

Mislu, A chiropractor I know was bitten by a brown recluse spider while he was asleep in his bed. No chance to 'gently tap the carpet'. It was on his arm and the first bite half woke him, he reflexively brushed at it and it kept biting up his arm. FYI, brown recluse spider bites can cause necrosis of the tissue. Google brown recluse spider bites and be prepared for some gruesome pictues.

The reviews on the spider catcher thingy are hilarious. I don't think they are written by real people, though, but by the company's copywriter. They all sound alike. I confess I kill spiders when they are in the house because they might be poisonous. I found one the other day that looked like it might have been a brown recluse. Don't take any chances with those!

Bryan, It looks to me as if the high GL diet was comprised of mostly denatured and processed foods, whereas the low GL diet consists of foods closer to their natural states. That in itself could easily account for fatty liver. Consider the difference between eating an ear of corn vs a corn chip. What passes for science in our society might consider both foodstuffs to be identical since their mea

Uma, People used to have wonderful results fasting on raw milk/raw clabbered milk. Since it has been Pasteurized and homogenized it's a different product entirely.

I think she looks great, maybe a little hyper but that's probably her personality not her diet. She'd probably be hyper on valium. She's full of ambition and energy and I love that about her. I don't at all enjoy her manic emphasis on herself, the constant 'look at me I'm soooo terrific'. She's been that way for years, in the throes of what I call the ‘screaming me-mes’. I don't think i

I thought the nutritionist had a good point and one that most of us would agree with: That it's the overall diet that matters, not the superfood-du-jour. She also mentioned that the phytochemicals in the blueberries lasts only about 6 hrs in the body as an illustration that these foods are overhyped. IMHO that thinking is very sound and consistent with our approach, never mind that we disagree wi

I haven't had experience with it, but I've read somewhere recently that teflex/teflon turns out to be toxic. Surprise surprise --not! The stuff probably doesn't leach at the temps we use them but why take chances? Use baking parchment paper, oiling it as necessary, and that is safer. Or unbleached waxed paper.

I second what sunshine79 says. I have great results with the zeolite, no bad effects, and it's gotten rid of symptoms that raw didn't touch. Highly recommended. I didn't have any detox reactions.

I agree with rawnora completely. The only thing I would add is to just eat what you want within the limits of raw. Your body knows what's right for it. Don't force yourself to eat something just because you think you should.

You can make your own delicious raw crackers easily and cheaply out of flax seeds, veggies, garlic, spices, and other flavorings. You do need a dehydrator. Funnily enough, I usually make my crackers when I'm fasting. For some reason I feel like doing it then. The simplest cracker is from plain soaked flax seeds with a little salt. Soak some flax seeds for a few hours until they absorb most/al

Interesting how the (hastily) written word takes all sort of meanings. When I posted the article, my Oh God, etc. was not meant as an expression of desperation but of amazement - what kind of nuttiness will they think of next. The subject line 'omiGAWD' would have reflected my feelings more.

That explains a lot. I was just in Marin and ate at CG a few times. After the privation of Iowa it was totally wonderful to walk into a raw cafe, even if it wasn't all pure as I'd like. And even if it was expensive. But I didn't feel good after eating there and now I know why. Bryan, I agree with you about the fresh fruits and veggies. As usual, you are a fountain of excellent information.
