Without having to whip up any complicated recipe, what's a more simple raw "finger-food" that I could have co-workers try. I've introduced them to the green smoothie as well as coconut water, coconut rolled dates, and I've told them about seaweed salad. Any ideas on what I could bring in for them to nibble during an afternoon snack?

Where can I find them? Are the unpitted ones found in olive bars at health food stores typically raw?

I have been under-eating raw for over a month now, all the sudden the appetite came back. I don't think I'm "overeating", I'm just eating sub-acid fruits with sweet fruits with avocado and then juice type of thing. Not the best combinations but if I feel like I should eat, I'm not going to hold myself back. We are supposed to listen to our bodies, correct?

That's the plus, the negative is the food combining rules have been momentarily tossed out the window while I help myself to anything raw in front of me- not that I mind. And I've finally started to crave juicy fruit. I am currently drinking a green smoothie with mango, papaya, banana, lime, spinach and spirulina. So delicious. Odd thing is, my first time trying mango, only a couple months ago, I

Tamukha- I thought celery was a natural diuretic and would help with fluid retention, am I wrong? Don't have a trampoline or jump rope but I will try to be more active. Water, water, and more water- will do. I am going to buy lemons after work and try starting my day with lemon water.

I've cut out salt and yesterday drank juiced celery with carrot (25oz), got a body massage a couple days ago and had her focus on my ankles and calves for a good portion of it, and I prop my legs up on a pillow at night. It's only been a couple days since I completely cut out added salt, but there's not much of a reduction in swelling at all, just wondering if anybody else has any other suggestio

I sipped on fresh orange juice from 10-11, increased gurgling followed by a small elimination. Ten uncomfortable minutes in the bathroom and as soon as I finish my humiliating walk back to my desk I already feel like I have to run back in, even though once I get in there I usually just sit and wait. Thirty minutes later I went on break, had another elimination, not much bigger. I wasn't feeling t

I do do mono-meals often though. Sometimes just juice until noon, and still they are loud. The cooked dinners are not everynight- in fact I've only eaten the steamed potatoes three times, and they are part of David Kleins transition to raw food diet, as well as a lot of juicy fruit.

I woke up this morning after a six hour sleep, hadn't eaten for ten hours (dinner was steamed potatoes with carrot and peas- part of david klein's C&C self healing recommendations- taken with digestive enzyme capsules- they sat and digested well, had no problems last night) After about an hour of being awake, fed my hungry stomach. Just a small bowl of freshly diced strawberries and two cleme

There is a juice bar about 25 minutes from my home, at a health food store I occasionally do my shopping at. It would probably be easier to do my own juicing, I'm waiting until I get another check so I can buy an omega juicer. I will then mostly be doing green juices, since I struggle to get those in. It's just so easy to start letting yourself slip, and just buy juice. I was so strict about it w

Sounds like when I quit- sometime mid-May after 7 years of it. I was sitting out on my back porch with a glass of iced fresh orange juice, sipping and feeling pure and healthy. Then I lit up a cigarette and inhaled the nicotine, tarring up my lungs. Orange juice in the right hand and cigarette in the left, it kinda just clicked at that moment. Here I was eating all raw food and then stepping outs

What is your opinion on 100% natural, not-from-concentrate 'commercial' juices? I know they are not raw, and I know they are lacking nutritional value and enzymes. But as far as when you are out and about away from home and your juicer, do you think it's better to go without any juice at all? I crave juice a lot, it's been a big part of my diet and a lot of days I just drink juice until the a

I'm searching more for digestive enzymes that will help break down my meals, as even mono-mealing can be difficult for my system right now. I do struggle with joint inflammation as a side effect of my illness though and occasionally have to take ibuprofen in order to even walk, so I will do some research on your replies.

If you take or have taken any digestive enzymes in the past that seemed to work really well, could you do me a favor and fill me in on the kind? Thanks

How do I feel? Like I'm lacking nutrients. Maybe this is because within the past few weeks I started trying out the "No 'Poo Method" on my hair, but it seems I've been losing more hair in the shower. Other than that I don't feel horrible but I just don't think this is how I should feel after working on eating high-raw for almost three months. I just had another crohns attack this past w

Hmm, I think it would be good if I bought the Omega Juicer, I think I would keep up and enjoy that more than adding them to my smoothies. I like sweet smoothies anyway, so I could still drink them for breakfast and lunch, and then drink green juice before my dinner. Do you think it's an issue that I haven't been having much greens at all daily? I know it wouldn't be a problem short term, but I

Had to add quick- Would green juice be just as beneficial? I was considering buying either a new blender or an omega juicer. Instead of making green smoothies daily I would make a large glass of green juice every night. Better off with the fiber? Thanks.

What amount of greens do you typically use in smoothies, say, in cups/handfuls per quart? How much do you eat daily? For a while, my only intake of greens was through smoothies, and they would typically have 4 large handfuls. I would assume that's not near enough of the recommended daily amount, but I try to not put them into salads/eat salads often as my crohn's does not agree with them

veganreikiangel- I am 5'5", I do have a low BMI but there's not a ton I can do right now about it. A lot of it dropped off due to illness, I lost about ten pounds (was 118 last summer) and then when I started eating raw I lost more, and I just had another flare up that lasted Wednesday night until late Thursday night, I've been lying in bed and I haven't had anything but water and a little b

CJJ - Do you watch The Office? The separate youtube clip was deleted, but the same one is included in that video, from 1:51 - 3:01. I have noticed that once my weight drops below 110 (which it did well over a month ago) that I have to start using a thin pillow between my knees. I sleep on my side, and my knees have become so boney they hurt when resting on top of each other. Now that I've h

I'm still having issues, most of them I'm causing myself, but can't seem to get out of this rut. I have been craving pumpkin seeds and sunflower seeds like you can't imagine. I will buy somewhere between half a cup to a full cup, soak them and then eat them all within a day, typically within a sitting (over the course of 2-4 hours as I try not to combine them with any other meals other than my di

The banana and cashew butter was mainly so I would eat something, it is the only thing that sounded appetizing and had calories. I did eat it later in the day (for dinner), as I typically try to do with fats. Thanks for the replies everyone. I feel bad for bringing negativity into this forum. I'm just losing hope and becoming concerned.

I've been using virgin coconut oil as well, almost daily after showers. Seems to work very nicely and keep my skin very soft, although it takes a little while to completely soak in. I've read very good things about it though.

FF - sweet fruit and greens seemed to cause problems for me, People told me it was improper combining and I did read that bananas are best alone. Banana-spinach was my favorite but it's possible bananas cause problems for me as well. It seems a lot of sweet fruit causes gas/bloating for me, especially if eaten with vegetables. Again, I've read many fruits and vegetables should be eaten alone, alt

Just got back from a week long vacation. There was some cheating but on healthier stuff, I avoided the grilled burgers and hotdogs, the desserts and pies, the chips, the SAD junk. I cheated on things like hummus, pickles, black beans, a few tablespoons peanut butter, and red wine. I came home and after feeling completely deprived all week I went to whole foods and bought some seaweed salad with a

Tanawana- not entirely sure what you mean. >"Why are you doing this to yourself I wonder??"< I said in my posts that the salads and nuts weren't really working for me so I cut them out... to correct my symptoms... I wasn't aware that raw salads and nuts were going to have negative results; The last thing I want to do is worsen this ongoing flare. I thought I may have an eas

First of all- congratulations on your new beginning! I am also 21 and new to raw, although I am instead currently working full-time instead of school. It seems you are already off to a good start with your raw meals and getting lots of fruit and greens. I think I have read (but don't quote me) that most vegetables aren't completely necessary as long as you are getting a sufficient amount of f
