I agree, and I believe there are solutions. But unless we fully understand the problem, we can't really create solutions. I think that there are several things that can be done. #1 is education. People need to see the real problem here and lobby for changes. I recommend sharing books and documentaries on the topic with your friends. #2 is empowerment. We need to stop relying on the

How to transition really depends on both your body and your current diet. The best thing I've found is the replacement idea. Whatever you are eating, find something comparable one notch above it to replace it with. Shoot me a PM of your current diet and I'll give you some suggestions. -Ryan radicalvitality.com

To avoid the grain spiral, start your meal with other bulkier and less dense foods, like raw fruits and veggies. After you are so full of them that you can't take another bite, then go for the grains. You will eat a lot less of them guaranteed. You might also try drinking more water. Sometimes the thirst signal can be misintrepreted as hunger. Peace, Ryan radicalvitality.com

You have herbivore at one end of the spectrum, carnivore at the other and omnivore in the middle. Granted the omnivore category is a bit ambiguous, but humans by and large would lean toward the herbivore side, pigs and chickens more the carnivore side

Ian, you are both not listening to what I say and jumping to all kinds of conclusions about things I have never said. A discussion with you is therefore probably pointless, but I will attempt it anyway . . . sodoffsocks Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I'll keep it simple to avoid confusion. > > DIET: > Carnivore: Meat > Herbivore: Plants

Here in California, I can get a head of local organic green leaf lettuce for $0.99 at Whole Foods. I do organic red leaf lettuce, romaine and spinach as well which are only slightly more expensive. Rotating is good, but it's better to have the same greens then no greens! -Ryan

I decided one time to eat mass amounts of raw garlic because as a natural antibiotic, I thought it would help kill off my sinus infection. Well, needless to say, in the process, it destroyed all the "good bacteria" in my intestines as well. Soon thereafter, I had mass amounts of terrible gas (evidently the bad bacteria proliferated much more quickly then the good to fill the void). T

I agree with Bryan. If you are healthy and your body has adjusted to higher fruit levels, having an all fruit morning is ideal. Just be sure you balance it out with greens and a few fats later in the day as these provide nutrients that cannot be obtained in fruit alone. (at least as is commercially available).

This idea of losing weight because of detox is mostly BS. You are not getting enough calories. Your son should have transitioned slower. I would measure his calories and see how many he is getting vs. spending per day. If he is not getting enough, I would recommend he back down to 80% raw and eat some concentrated carbs like grains, breads, etc. Maybe add some olive oil or nuts. He'll gain

Just because something is old doesn't mean it is inaccurate. Scribes (whose entire job was the copying and preservation of ancient scriptures) were so careful to maintain the letter of the Torah that if they made even the slightest mistake in translation, the entire copy was thrown out. That isn't to say that some very slight mistakes didn't slip in over the centuries, but the discovery of the

My experience has been that when you make a drastic switch, you get drastic results both good and bad. Good because you are eating better foods, bad because you're body simply isn't used to it. I encourage people to be super in tune with their bodies and listen so well that even by making very slight adjustments they can tell/feel how it reacts in the body. If you aren't sure whether raw food

Just from the pictures I've seen out there of before and after raw, I'd say that major changes are possible. The biggest thing is fat. When you loose excess fat in the face it can reveal an entirely different person beneath. Another major component is the expression. Even if the body you have underneath may not be the prettiest, when your expression changes, it overrides the surface beauty.

I eat seven bananas at one sitting and feel fine about it (I actually feel better then I do eating anything else, but it took some time to build up to). I rotate it up though and will only do this, say twice a week. My diet (all organic)- Breakfast: As much fruit as I can eat and still feel good (today was a 20 oz of grapes) A little bit of grain to finish off (I'm transitioning to raw s

You could be gluten intolerant. This is not uncommon. My mom was so intolerant she couldn't hold a loaf of breat. She did a NAET treatment ( ) and can now eat grains no problem.

Grains are inferior to fruit in that the complex carbs require the body to go through an additional process to brake them down into simple sugars. (also, from a naturalist perspective, grains are much more difficult to harvest then fruits, so probably not what nature intended as a primary food). However, I have found grains to be a good transition food if you are going raw since they are a conc

OK, my first question would be, what exercises are you trying to do? My guess is that you are thinking exercise as in running, aerobics, swimming, etc. or maybe even an hour long walk. Those are all great things, but not if you haven't been doing them. I personally love to exercise but find that my time is very limited. If I haven't exercised in a while, to go hit the weights is just killer

When I first went raw, I was consuming mass amounts of primarily fruit and not brushing and after several weeks, my teeth started aching and bleeding (minorly). I decided to start brushing and rinsing after every meal and that pretty much cleared the problem up. I then learned about greens and have been consuming approximatley one huge head of lettuce / greens per day. Now I don't really even

Well, I'm raw because it is natural. I'm not sure that fermenting things is the most natural and we must admit that some fermented things are toxic (cheese for example). The bacteria that ferment these things through off waste products. Also, what do you think gives Nama Shoyo it's zap? I don't know if you've had MSG, but I found a striking resemblance. I'm not going to experiment on myself.
