It is exactly the antibiotic property of garlic that makes it unhealthful. Garlic can kill bacteria, and if blended with water, can be used as an insecticide to kill garden and household insects. If garlic can kill an ant, it can also kill cells in your body. This is why when you first eat garlic, your body drops all healing activities (say like a sore throat or mild cold) in the body so that the

I did a View Source on the original document, and found the original formatting and paragraph breaks, which I've included below: ---------------------- Detoxification by David Klein, Healthful Living Educator Many, if not most people, begin transitioning to a raw food diet when they are severely ill; some do so when they are attempting

In 811, its maximum 10% fat, and maximum 10% protein. It is not necessary to hit the 10% number for protein. If you are eating enough fresh fruits and vegetables to meet your energy (caloric) needs, you will be getting ample protein. This is because with raw protein, none of the protein has been denatured like it has with cooking. A hamburger might has zero usable protein (except for the protein

When first going all raw, its worthwhile to put your daily menu into a nutritional calculator like fitday, nutritiondata, nutridiary, or Cron-o-Meter to see your fat intake. Most people just look at the volume of fat, and it might seem like volume wise, you are only eating 10% fat. But when you do a calorie analysis, you might find that a 10% fat by volume is actually 70% fat as a percentage of c

Paul, How much fat in the diet do you consider to be a healthy high fat diet? For example, the standard transition raw diet is often more than 60% fat, as a percentage of calories consumed. The Standard American Diet, which I consider a very high fat diet, is 40% fat as a percentage of calories.

There are dry and seedy figs (often store bought are like this, or unripe figs), and their are ones that are filled with the tastiest juicy natural jam/jelly you could ever find. My favorite are the adriatic figs, that are green on the outside, and a deep red/burgundy on the inside.

In the US, the young coconuts from Thailand are treated with a fungicide that can seep into the coconut water. So if you can get organic young coconuts, or fresh ones that haven't been treated, coconuts make an excellent source of electrolytes.

Your headaches could be happening because you are detoxing. When there are lots of toxins in the blood, the blood vessels in the head contract to reduce their surface area and to restrict blood flow in the head, to prevent toxins from poisoning the brain. This contraction of the blood vessels is what causes the pain. At some point, your toxin level will be low enough that you can fast without

Its hard to find a really raw olive oil, as the presses create a lot of heat, many beyond that of being raw. Also, even if the oil is really raw, its not a great source of fat, as there is only fat in the olive oil, and its devoid of other nutrients found in real food, like vitamins, minerals, water, fiber, and phytonutrients. A better source of fat would be avocados or raw nuts and seeds.

My experience with sleep is that its less about what you eat, and more about what you don't eat. Avoid eating foods that are stimulating - foods that have medicinal qualities, medicinal herbs, drugs of any kind, digestive stimulants, i.e. condiments and spices. Which means to eat plainly, whole fresh raw fruits and salads, small quantities of raw nuts and seeds. Eating within 3 hours of ea

When I first went raw, I was hungry all the time. So it was necessary for me to have many meals (5 to 6) during the day to feel OK. What really helps is to eat meals of a single fruit, as when you are eating that many meals, you don't want the digestion of the previous meal to interfere with the current meal.

Humans probably evolved in the tropics. Millions of years ago, there was a time when this was the planet of the apes. There were more ape species than exist today, and the tropics could have covered a larger percentage of the earth then than it does today. 80/10/10 is an excellent diet, but it may take some time to transition to such a clean diet. Some people can do it over night, but for myse

Cooking denatures proteins. Fats are rendered carcinogenic. Carbohydrates become carcinogenic. Vitamins and minerals are rendered inert. Fiber is broken down. Water is evaporated. Its not hard to believe that a huge percentage of the nutritional value is lost.

The way to get enough healthy fats is to quit eating the unhealthy fats on a raw diet. If you are eating vegetable oils, you are mostly getting omega-6, putting you out of balance with omega-3. If you cut out the oils, and watch the nut and seed intake, you won't get out of balance with omega-3. That is, if you eat lots of greens, and a moderate amount of the overt fats (ie avocados, nuts, see

The more ingredients in a smoothie, the harder it is for the body to digest the smoothie. The harder it is to digest the smoothie, the more chance that nutrients will not be absorbed. Also, with the use of stimulants in the smoothie, the body will have less chance of absorbing the nutrients, as stimulants move the food through the body more quickly because the body doesn't want to absorb the stim
