Try going to a site on Traditional Chinese Medicine and look for "deficient kidney yin".

Yogi, is the Norwalk one of those that you kept and are now using? Just curious. I can't believe all the juicers you have owned!

Thank you very much, djatchi, for that link to www.veganhealth.org. I started out asking about hydrilla, not thinking about B12 at all, but if that is what we are discussing, then how about this. More than a dozen years ago I read in a natural-living type magazine an article which basically said that when it comes to B12 we are not always given the whole story. I was real lucky to find tha

Tks. for your replies and opinions. I don't have any pictures, unfortunately. As to B-12 analogue, I don't know much about this; is it actually harmful to us, or merely useless?

905. Hydrilla
I posted a question about hydrilla in January, but there was no response. So I am re-trying: has anyone here had any experience with a food supplement called Hydrilla, which is an aquatic plant that causes much grief in freshwater lakes, but, like kudzu in the south, is a tremendous accumulator of Calcium + other minerals. I sent away for a jar of this stuff. I'd be interested to hear of any

The issue for me is - would I have to chop or slice hard vegetables like carrots and beets into lots of small or narrow, spear-like pieces in order to get them to engage with the augers? With my Omega single-auger machine, I spent much time with a knife preparing the vegetables. With a Champion-type machine, or the larger spinning-basket types, you can drop in whole carrots and smaller beets a

Strange, isn't it, that such an expensive top-of-the-line machine has such a crude, unsatisfactory pulp ejection mechanism that one has to fiddle & fool with to come up with a solution.

I recall reading about a farmer who didn't like the idea of having to use all that animal manure that biodynamic growing (apparently) requires because it meant having to keep animals as "slaves". So, he was led to the use of rock dust, also called rock flour, which he found to be a wonderful fertilizer.

It is a style of agriculture. It gets a bit complicated in some ways, and has a sort of mystical/spiritual aspect, too. There's plenty of information on this on the w.w.web.

Many thanks, again, Yogi. I will take your word for it now. I can't quite understand why Omega would come out with a relatively expensive juicer (9000) in this day & age that is not continuous-clean (pulp ejection). That is like going back to the horse & buggy, isn't it. We are lucky to have you here to assist us.

What is a "nut milk maker"? Is it just a soy milk maker, eg, Soyapower, Soyquick, etc. being used for nuts instead of soybeans? Or is there a dedicated nut milk maker available? You know, without the heating element.

Many thanks, Yogi. I read the little reviews that you referred to. One person said it was a pain to clean, and someone else said cleaning was a snap! I guess it's all relative, whatever you are accustomed to. Sometimes I wish there was one juicer and that's all, so we didn't have to knock ourselves out weighing the pros and cons. I think that I would like to make more than 2 cups of carr

Thanx v. much for your recommendation, Yogi. I see that there is also an Omega called the 9000, but I can't find any reviews of it. Maybe it's too new?

I have an Omega single-auger juicer, which is v. good for leafy greens, wheat grass, etc., as I am sure you all know. But it is too slow and cumbersome and inefficient for carrots and beets, which juices I love. I am not sure I want a Champion, even tho it was reviewed well for years by virtually everyone who has one. (Too big and heavy.) Nor do I want a $69.95 el-cheapo that is going to last

Thanks for your posts, Jose, which I agree with. Nice to have you here to politely express some unpopular views. Have you ever read the banned-in-US book by Brian Ellison, "Why We Will Never Win The War on AIDS"?

Confuzed said that he is and wants to be a raw fooder. As far as I can see, he is just throwing out some opinions for debate. Is there a standard of purity we have to adhere to, to be welcome here? Yes/No. Check one, whoever is in charge. I like this forum, but, gosh, diet is so personal and changeable in the course of one's life. Bryan, your words give me pause: that this is a place w

Confuzed, you make some good points that I, at least, agree with. It is just a plain & simple fact that the application of heat (no, not burning) causes certain naturally occurring components of that food to be more digestible and usable by our bodies. Also, as you say, certain foods just taste better (nothing wrong with that). I find it impossible to be 100% raw.

Nature doesn't make mistakes. Never. We make the mistakes because we don't understand what is going on. If a pathogen "attacks" a person and makes him very ill or even kills him, there is a reason.

Whatever you do, I hope you will go to a biological-type dentist who will test you for restorative materials that are compatible with your biology. A natural dentist will not use mercury, either. If it was me, I'd have the thing yanked if I could not afford an appropriate dentist to work on me.

Thanks again, jono, and to you, also, shep252 for your comments in reply to my question on how to make kale taste good. I made juice today from parsley, Russian Kale fresh from my garden, and juice of one orange. It was actually not too bad. Russian Kale is the less-frilly green with nice pink ribs. It keeps on growing until a mighty frost comes along.

Many thanks for your recipe, jono. It sounds, well, unique. What is the difference between puree-ing these items in a blender, and making juice of them in a juicer? I recall reading in a juicing book that parsley is strong in its effects and should therefore be used only in small amounts. In any event, I am going to try your recipe!

Sodoff, do you actually like the taste of the purslane that grows wild like a weed in most veg. gardens, or are you talking about some sort of cultivated purslane? The wild stuff I can't get down; it is slimy and sour, the one-two punch. What a combo!
