Hi Volcomchick, Freedomyou.com has alot of interesting articles on food addictions. I know what you're going thru as I just started 95%raw on 1/1/09. I have only read 2 'raw books', 12 steps to raw foods & live food factor. Both books go into detail about the additives food cos put into their products that make you crave even more of the food even when you know it's not good 4u. Althoug

Hi Sun, I wondered the same thing when I 1st started to make smoothies. I heard from Jay Kordich on his tapes that you should only mix apples with greens or it might create gas. Of course, these tapes are from 1989 & only address juicing & not smoothies. I have mixed my spinach with red grapes, apples, bananas, pears & strawberries and did not experience any problems whatsoever. Bu

Yes...... a thousand times yes!!!! The boomer generation in USA is particularly self-absorbed. My healthcare, my401k,my house, my car, my,my,etc. And yes I'm one of 'em. Even though I've been a Christian 15yrs, it wasn't until the last couple of yrs that I have started stretching myself to obey the command 'Looking out for other's interests', be willing to do menial work, it is more Blessed t

Great Job Cynthia....... I'm at 95% since 1/1. I could say that if my wife would stop visiting her family on wknds & ordering pizzas I would be 100 but then I wouldn't be accepting responsibility for the choices I make so... oh never mind. I love the 'light feeling' & haven't been this weight in 10yrs. Again.... congrats Joe

Hey Luvyou, I believe that juice fasting may be what is best for your situation right now. NOTHING IS WORTH GOING TO THE HOSPITAL FOR unless it's to give birth & even that is questionable these days. One of the benefits of juicing is that the toxins are released slower but the body has nutrients to work with. I just started raw on 1/1 & I still don't feel I could juice fast without get

Hi All, My wife eats about 90% SAD. However, she will have a fruit smoothie most days. Her current fav is strawberries mixed with red grapes with the occasional banana thrown in. Hey, it's a start in the right direction for her. I pray that she'll give up the hamburger one day but SHE must decide when that will be. All I can do is live the raw life by example. The simple fact is WE CAN ONLY CH

Hi Everyone, I don't think I would've stayed 95% or more raw for the last 7 weeks if I didn't know about smoothies. After reading 12 steps to raw I started drinking them, mostly spinach & pairs or romaine & apples sometimes using red grapes instead. I've always liked to juice celery but I don't like eating it. In the book V.boutenko said green smoothies help break the addiction to cook

Hi, i just started raw (95%or more) on 1/1/09. I have noticed an increase in the desire but have had no problems whatsoever with what you experienced. I'm 53 yrs old & my wife in 99% SAD. we've been together 26yrs of which we're married 20yrs. While the raw life is GREAT I don't push it with her. We all need to have our own 'ah ha' moment when we change our eating habits. I'm very hopeful

Hi Everyone, Great posts. I am also looking for alternatives. I just started raw in Jan. so most of my focus has been on buying live foods. I've used lever soap for years & I'm getting really dry skin lately. I don't know if its because of working in a computer room, taking paxil, or a combo of both but it's great to have all these alternatives in 1 place. Thanks to everyone.........

Hi, I just started 1/1/09 & have been 95% raw most days & 100% on others with absolutely no meat. My wife & son are still eating cooked dishes so I can relate to how challenging it is to change in a meat-eating,cooked household. My typical daily menu is this (I'm a nightshifter-3days 12.5hrs). I wake up at 2pm to get my son at school. When I get home around 3pm I have either a smoo

Hey Cutie, Great job.... I started on 1/1/09 & have been 95% raw most days & 100% other days. I agree, when I eat cooked ( today it was 2 baked potatoes) I can definitely tell the difference. While at work tonight I had some zuchini pasta for dinner along with some red grapes for a snack. When that 'light feeling' comes back I feel as though 100% permanently isn't too far off. Still it

Hi Irena, I agree with the above post about smoothies. I got V.boutenko's 12 steps to raw this past Dec. while still eating mostly SAD. They have really done the work that she said they would in her book. I'm about 90 -95% raw since 1/1/09. Bryan is absolutely correct. If we feel 'denied' certain food the attraction to them just gets stronger. It's a MARATHON not a sprint. Even though most

Hi Veronique, A daniel fast is fruits, veggies, some grains. It eliminates the 4 white evils sugar, flour, salt,& dairy. It also doesn't allow caffiene, white bread, sodas, chips & the typical SAD foods ESPECIALLY MEAT of any kind. If you 'google' Daniel fast you can get a complete list. The most important part of the fast is to spend extra time in prayer & fellowship with God. Howeve

Hi Luvyuu, If mom doesn't eat raw for a little while (2weeks, can't remember where I read it) she may experience a bad time due to all the toxins that are released during a fast. I say this because I just started 90% raw as of 1/1/09 & I still get the usual headaches, brain fog,etc... I'm a 53yr old male who has eaten SAD all his life except for a Daniel fast the last 5 yrs every January.

Hi everyone, Can anybody suggest a good substitute for the typical kashi breakfast cereal? After reading 'the live food factor' & realizing how much gluten is in wheat cereals I need to have an alternative. I'm still in transition to raw foods having started 1/1/09. I'm using banana milk instead of 'silk' like I used to. Thanks for your help. Joe

Hello all, In the book 'the live food factor there is a good deal of info on b12. Dr G. Cousens cites cases with a fruitarian diet causing b12 lack. I don't know who is right but thought I would add to this thread. I haven't finished the entire book yet. Dr. Cousens cites 3 cases..... Johnny Lovewisdom's vegan community in Equador, a fruitarian community in Austrailia, & a group of Afri

Hi luvyuu, I used an inhaler for the last 18yrs for what was supposed to be asthma. I started to eat 85% raw on 1/1/09 & have progressed to 95 or so these last 2 weeks. I have not had to use my inhaler except for the 2 times I had a steggioni pizza. No red sauce, lots of veggies but still with white flour crust. If you can tough it out, I would not use one. I have had numerous ulcers in

Hi Willows, Looks great. I tried your recipe for raw pasta sauce but forgot the red pepper. I also used spinach instead of cilantro. It turned out pretty good though it was a little heavy on the garlic for my taste. I also couldn't locate any chillades. Where can I buy some? Thanks so much for posting your creations here. It makes it a little easier for me to stay raw. I just started 1/1/09

Hi Folks, I read somewhere ( can't remember -- must be the caffeine) that if they tried to get caffeine on the market today as a new product that the FDA would not approve it. I too enjoy green tea as well as tetley regular & British blend. I hardly ever drink coffee (2 cups every 6mos) but I do notice that all the coffee drinkers I know have to run to the potty sometimes b4 they even f

Hi All, I started eating 85% raw on 1/1/09. Since then I have increased daily my intake of raw food. I love smoothies & I always did like fruit. In her book '12 steps to raw food' Victoria Boutenko devotes much space to explaining our conditioning & our addictions to cooked foods as well as salts, sweets, etc. This book has forever changed the way I approach food. I never realized th

Hey rawdate... I just finished reading 12 steps to raw foods by Victoria Boutenko. Step 4 is 'I love you no matter what you eat'. My wife is a meateater. Like Jodi said..All her good qualities far outweigh the smell of meat. That being said.. if I were starting a relationship I think I would try to find someone likeminded from the getgo. IMHO Joe

Being from Phila, Pa I must say I would rather have the watermelon. The season for them is almost over here. I love the melon family. Oh well, apples are always in & with the fall comes figs & cranberries. These will be my transitional foods as well as raw greens & grains.
