The term "living" enzymes should be interpreted to mean enzymes that are active, and thus capable of promoting/sustaining the processes of life that take place within our cells and tissues. "Living" equals "functional", and does not literally imply that the enzymes themselves are completely alive. "Active" enzymes would be a better term. Some enzymes a

These scientists and the reporters reporting on their findings are guilty of a very common and enormaous mistake that is rampant in such articles these days: the failure to distinguish sufficiently between COMPLEX carbohydrates found in most vegetable foods, and SIMPLE carbohydrates (sugars and simple starches) found abundantly in modern "fast foods" but not much in natural "veggi

Traditional Chinese medicine, in terms of food, is based on centuries of careful observation of the effects food has on the body. In this sense, it is highly scientific and hard to argue with. Confusion arises because of the complexities of this approach. Beyond simple yin and yang, foods can be "damp" or "wet", "hot" or "cold", contain "wind"

Vegans can easily be overweight, if they eat a lot of grains (which are very fattening), or foods that they are alllergic to/intolerant of. If someone is only "substantially" raw vegan, consider carefully what else they are eating. Those banana splits they sneak out to indulge in every other day add up! Non-completely-raw vegans who eat processed foods (which may contain additives

Chancre/Canker sores can be of several types and from several causes; not always easy to determine what is causing them in a given case. Some are bacterial infections, some are triggered by nutrient deficiencies, but one very common cause is eating something that one is intolerant of or allergic to (sets up an auto-immune reaction in the cells lining the mouth, when exposed to the offending food

I eat beets. They are very good for the liver, and help in cleansing/detoxifying. A slice or two of beet (called beetroot in some places) added into a blended raw drink with carrots, etc... can be flavorful. I add them (sliced into slivers or in thin slices) into salads, too. Just be careful with it: raw beet juice stains many things very well, and can be difficult to remove! Those red colora

Sunshine79, just to clarify, I have never dumpster-dived for food, and never intend to! But I'm assuming he has to make it to the end of the month without money for food... and that is too long to fast, when on a new job, so creative solutions must be considered. If someone were unable to find food from another source, had no money to buy any and couldn't take advantage of any other alternatives

Simply walk around the produce section of your supermarket, and look at what is cheapest and at least semi-appealing to you. Buy what you can. Things like potatoes (while not usually eaten raw) are cheap, and can be used to help "fill you up", alongside the greens. If you are getting enough variety of nutrient-dense raw vegetable foods, you probably won't be as hungry as you think/ex

When I first switched to all fresh and mostly raw produce, I was concerned that I wouldn't be able to afford to eat! I found if anything, I saved money. I only bought the organic versions of the most heavily pesticide-sprayed foods and ones which weren't TOO much more expensive than the regular ones. Apples, for example. The rest of the food was ordinary produce. The first thing I noticed

A few more (and more brief) comments/responses on this subject: The digestive tract of a high predator such as a lion or tiger is MUCH shorter - about one-third - the length of our own, and its stomach acid is MUCH more powerful; about four times as strong/acidic as our own. This makes it more resistant to animal-borne parasites than we are. Other animals in nature, especially, DO SUFFER

The infrared sauna is like a terrifically bright light bulb, except you can't see the light with your eyes. It is basically the same kind of heat that you feel when you walk from shade into bright, direct sunlight (felt more strongly, the closer you get to the equator), because sunlight contains the full spectrum, including infrared. . That light is so bright (and because of its wavelength),

The food industry creates these things TO MAKE MORE MONEY. They look for ways to extend shelf life and appearance. Consumers' health is NOT their interest/priority; running a profitable business is. To them, if putting shrimp-shell soup coatings on strawberries EXTENDS SHELF LIFE of the strawberries, then it is GOOD. They don't care what it does to people who eat it, but they will look for t

Psyllium husks are a high-fiber substance (the ground-up outer coatings of psyllium seeds) conatining both soluble and insoluble (but mostly insoluble) fiber, that "pushes" and "scours" as well as absorbs, on its way through the tract. Bentonite is a natural clay that, due to its microscopic crystalline stucture, is VERY absorbent. It is used to make cement waterproof: w

That video shows a nice safety technique of rasing the other hand, but blows with the flat edge of the blade like that will only work on younger and fresher (i.e., softer) coconuts, and it helps if you are a strong guy. Also, the "overshoot" of the incisions may well allow the juice inside to flow out, spilling some where you don't want it (if you are pouring it off instead of drinking

I tried a number of anti-worm remedies, both conventional and alternative. Ironically, the only whole, huge and obvious worm that came out was the FIRST one, when I had not consciously taken anything against worms! The conventional medicine was Mebendazole (or something very similar to that in spelling). It is sold under several trade names, but the most common name is "Vermox".

I eat seeded grapes, with the seeds in. They can be chewed up without much trouble, so I don't see why it should be a problme with dried ones... unless they somehow become much harder when dried, but I suspect they would turn more "crunchy" than "hard". The only way to be really sure is to (carefully) try it!

We get a lot of these kinds of fruits where I live (in Hong Kong). They are delicous, especially when in their peak season when they are freshest and properly ripened. Some of them should not be eaten in too large quantities, though. Like most/all foods, they can have effects on the body, and too much of any one of them (like lychees) can create imbalances. Enjoy them, but in moderation, rota

Too much animal protein in the diet can result in excess uric acid/urea (a by-product of protein metabolism) coming out in the sweat -- just like certain sulfuric garlic compounds do. The problem with urea is that it stinks like urine (same root to both words!) and breaks down into ammonia. . That is not only stinky, it is very unhealthy. Not meaning to generalize or sound prejudiced, but

To open a coconut, use a big, square "meat cleaver" type of knife. Chop downwards with the knife, using the BOTTOM, INSIDE CORNER (the corner closest to your hand on the handle) to make contact with the coconut. It will hack/cut right into it, making a clean slice/incision. Simply make four cuts like that, rougly in a square, then "peel back the square flap" if your cuts d

First-time post from a new member here, but I'll post in this thread because I have first-hand experience of this. Not paranoia or something in my imagination: I actually passed a foot-long roundworm,as thick as a fat pencil ... as a middle-aged adult! I did some real research on this subject in specialist medical texts and elsewhere, after that experience. When my worm came out, I preserved
