LOL... so nice to hear that you thought of me while making your smoothie.

Wow! The flashlight in the smoothie... Can you laugh about it now? I'm just too skittish about BP-A, etc, so I'll learn to live with SS. Thanks for the warning, though. Maybe I'll go back to the Waring... dunno... it would save me quite a bit of $ to just buy the Waring w/ SS. For the Vita-Prep w/ SS it would be $700. Thanks for everyone's help! I just wish all this stuff weren't

Ughh... It's $200 for the stainless steel carafe o.O

Bruce. Thank you for your well thought out and extensive post. I appreciate it. I am going to get the Vita-Prep 3 with the SS carafe. If I don't like the carafe, I can still use the original Vita-Mix container that the blender will come with. Thanks again.

Flash - Have you used both? I'd be interested to hear your comments. I'm most concerned with the end result. Which one appears to do it's job better, regardless of what the spec sheet says. Thanks!

I'll deal with the carafe. I'm going to go with the Vita-Prep 3 and the stainless steel Waring carafe. Thanks for your help.

LOL.... why wouldn't I be happy with it. it sounds like the vita-prep 3 is the better machine from what you say

Thanks! Just to check, you are 100% sure the Waring carafe will work on the Vita-Prep 3??

I'd rather go with the best blender. I can give the poly carafe to a friend that has a Vita-Prep, so it wouldn't go to waste. Do you really think the Waring is the better option than the Vita-Prep 3 in this scenario? Thanks!

Thanks for the advice!! The plastic carafe is not an option for me, though. No matter what base I get, I'm definitely getting the stainless steel carafe. So, should I still get the Vita-Prep 3? You said the Waring carafe would still work... Thanks!!!

Would you say getting the Vitaprep instead of the Waring base is the way to go? Either way, I'm getting the stainless steel carafe.

12. Carafe
I know that you can use a Vitamix Carafe on a Waring blender. But what about the opposite. Can you use a Waring Carafe on a Vitamix blender? I want to avoid plastic and want the Waring stainless steel carafe, but I want to buy a Vitaprep.

So, I've decided to go with the Waring because I want the stainless steel carafe instead of a plastic one. Anyway, my question is this: Do I definitely want the MX1200 model that has the variable speed dial. WY - Have you found this to be worth the extra $$ or have you just gone back to your Vita-prep? Thanks.

I can definitely use the Waring carafe on the Vita-prep base?? I know the Vita-mix carafe works on the Waring, but didn't know if it works the other way around, too, although it makes sense that it would. Although, then it starts getting really pricey. $500 for the Vitaprep and then another couple hundred, I think, for the stainless steel carafe...

I'm really torn now... That thread about chemicals leaching from the plastic carafe has spooked me into the Waring with the stainless steel carafe. But reading how disappointed you are in the Waring has me bummed about my choice.... I wish one of the other brands offered a stainless steel carafe.

Bruce, Why did you return the Blendtec? Did you find the Vita-prep to be that superior?

Yeah, I'm surprised that it doesn't have the same power (or more) as the Vitaprep, especially after the push Raw Guru gave it. And the tech specs. I'm disappointed, too, because the thread about the plastic carafes and toxicity got me wanting to buy the Waring with the stainless steel carafe. I hope someone else with a Waring (that has also used either the Vitaprep or the Blendtec) will chime

WY - I just went to the Waring website. For your model, it lists the bare motor speed as 45,000 RPM and a Max pulse with 30,000 RPM burst of speed. Maybe you are looking at the pulse rather than the bare motor speed?

Wow. Jodi, that is quite a thread. Now I'm thinking maybe I should buy the Waring with the stainless steel container. Although, WY felt the Vitaprep was more powerful. Hmmm... I wonder if a Waring stainless steel container would work on the Vitaprep since the Vitamix containers work on the Waring. I did read about the "safer plastic" that doesn't have BP-A, but I wonder if we

Will the Waring carafe do wet and dry? I've read that the Blendtec, the same carafe does both, but for the Vitamix, you need a different one for wet and dry. If I buy the Waring, I will buy the Vitamix carafe, but can I use the original Waring carafe for both wet/dry? As far as heating things up, does the Blendtec really heat things up that much more since it has the programmed cycle? I kno

So, I watched the video. It seems like the non-tamper containers use more air in order to suck everything down, so you don't need to manually mix it. So, it more air really that bad? He makes a point that you have to have the lid on (with the non-vitamix carafe) so everything doesn't get all over. But, that is what a lid is for, so that doesn't matter to me. I will say that the Blendtec soun

What? There is a place for the tamper in the lid? I thought that only the vitamix carafe has that feature? really? hmmmm..... Do you have to move things around all the time or just if you are doing something particularly bulky? When I called Blendtec, they said you just need to pulse it to get it to move around and then it should be fine.

I always hear so many positive things about the tamper for the Vitamix (and Waring users who use the Vitamix carafe). I was wondering if Blendtec users find that everything blends completely on the programmed cycles or if they need to stop the blender and shift things around manually for them to blend completely.

Yes, I've seen the Blind Guru youtube videos of the Waring blender. It looks great. However, I've also watched the Blendtec "Will it Blend" videos on youtube and seen Blendtec blend a rake handle, cell phones, transformers, etc. So, it seems just as powerful as a Waring if it can do that, right? We Libras are so darn indecisive....

WY- When your new Waring arrives, can you post to this thread, your thought about it and it compared to your Vitamix? Thanks. I look forward to your analysis.

Thanks Emily! Just when I thought that I finally made a decision...... And your point about just using the toggle switch makes sense. I don't know how long the pre-programmed cycles of the Blendtec last. Sigh.... Back to figuring it out again...

I found this quote on a website. It now has me thinking to just stick with the Blendtec, rather than the Waring. Any Waring users have a comment? (I'm ignoring the criticism of the model Vitamix they use and just going with their comments on the Waring performance). "Have you heard about the Waring Pro MX1000 Blender with 3 horsepower? Yes, we have, and we evaluated this model for a

I'm trying to decide between the Blendtec and the Waring Xtreme. I am new to raw foods and have heard good things about the Blendtec. However, I've also seen the rawfoodsadvantage guy saying that you need to buy a 3.5HP blender, thus the Waring. I'm confused about which to buy. Is the Blendtec powerful enough? I've seen their youtube "Will it Blend" videos and it seems to be quite
