I really enjoy raw unsalted olives. They are bitter, but some bitter is good in the diet. The ones I get are grown organically in Peru and sundried. I've purchased them from naturalzing.com and I've also gotten a different but similar brand from Whole Foods. Personally, I love them and they are a staple in my diet.

Geo, I don't have any words of wisdom for you, but I can see many here have said many beautiful things. I am sending love and light, and wishing you peace.

I had a really hard time with sugar addiction years ago. For me, adding in the natural sugars in the form of fresh fruit, while completely eliminating all processed sugar is what finally helped. For me, naturally, over time, I stopped craving it altogether. Today, I have to be careful with high sugar natural foods like dates, because they can trigger the craving for the concentrated, processed st

Sometimes I wonder if the organic produce at stores is really organic. At the farmer's market you can pretty much tell by looking at it, and you can usually even talk to the actual grower. I remember reading a post here years ago by someone who worked for Whole Foods. This guy said that we were all crazy for spending money on organic stuff because it's really no different than conventional. Who r

I try to always by organic... but today, I needed a red bell pepper for some kale chips, and the organic ones were a whopping $6.99/lb. I bought conventional for $2.39/lb. After reading what you wrote, Jodi, I wish I'd spent the extra money. You get what you pay for I guess. Darn... I have a huge batch of pesticide laden kale chips dehydrating right now

I'm another advocate of juicing as a good way to transition. Many times our bodies can have a hard time with all of the fiber with a raw plant-based diet in the beginning, so juicing is a great way to get many nutrients into your body easily. Maybe be a little careful and not go overboard with the fruits, especially if you're juicing them. This can introduce huge amounts of sugar that will just s

Sorry you got sick! I'm thinking I'll do the soup like I've been doing the smoothies and use an herbal tea/infusion for the base. With the smoothies, the tea is cold. For the savory soup, I'll use a warmer tea, that way I won't accidentally heat it too mush after it's blended. About the shilajit, I put it in pretty much everything because I'm literally craving it. But this is my favorite:

I love shilajit! It is probably my favorite right now (that and reishi). 88+ minerals, all the co-factors present and the minerals are in perfect ratio, and it's been tried and tested for thousands of years in India. I highly recommend it. It is a natural source of fulvic acid. I also have a bottle of pure fulvic acid, and do take it sometimes with the zeolites. It's another good detoxifier. I

I want to comment everyone... rzman10001- I agree, I love nuts. Mostly I eat cashews and brazil nuts. I love seeds, too. gems- hey, you know what? I am so not perfect. Today I went ahead a threw a bone to my shadow and had a Starbuck's coffee. I didn't even like it that much and I got waaay too jittery. ok. So now I'm done. I'm back on track and not looking back. Hang in there! Life is a j

Thanks everyone. I feel so supported. I'm also pretty happy with myself that I reached out instead of caving in. Usually the holidays don't phase me a bit, but this year, recently divorced, (which is a good thing, and on very friendly terms), I think it's weirder to deal with. Food has always been my drug of choice, and so I guess it's no surprise that I would crave all of my past comfort foods r

I started this journey with a huge amount of motivation because I was dealing with a sort of health crisis. The good news is I am feeling alot better, and the worst symptom, hairloss, has started to reverse. That's the best news ever, and I love all of the thick new growth, I know it is because of the detoxing as well as the raw organic foods and daily tonic herbs. But I'm getting bored of my

Beets are also considered a longevity food and liver tonic. I wish I liked them more, but if I put them through the juicer with other things, I can get all the great benefits without tasting them too much.

I have different health challenges, but I can share the great success I've had so far. I had major thyroid and adrenal stuff going on, and my symptoms were completely debilitating. It's been about 6 months of raw for me now, and the last 3 months have been 100% raw. I can tell you that losing almost half of my hair and barely being able to swallow because my thyroid gland was so enlarged kept me

Hi witchymichelle- That's great you're having such good results going raw. I'm really not an expert at all, and there are alot of people here who have much more experience than I do, but I'll tell you what's working for me. I'm pretty lean and don't want to loose any more weight either. High quality fats in moderation are what help me get enough calories. I just can't eat enough fruits and

just 4 me- I can relate to what you are going through. I work in a restaurant, and am completely surrounded all day by smells and foods that are terrible for me. I used to eat some of the stuff there, because, like you, I got hungry- and some things were just really tempting. But I've developed a much healthier strategy now that works much better for me. i bring my own stuff, even water, I lit

I agree with Prana. There is nothing that compares to beautiful, clear, living spring water. I forage from a local spring that I found here: www.FindaSpring.com. There's a thread here somewhere about this topic that was recently discussed.

Hi There... A couple of things come to mind- If you are urinating every 3 or 4 hours, then you are probably getting enough fluid. If not, it's possible that you're experiencing some dehydration, a very common thing with many people. You can also tell if you're dehydrated by the quality of your urine. It should be pretty clear/colorless. This is telling you that your kidneys are filtering yo

Tamukha, Thanks for the link on neem. I've seen that before. I am not disputing the fact that neem oil is potent stuff, and like I said, if you take enough of it, for long enough, it will cause liver damage. Articles like the one you posted are written as a cautionary note so people don't go overboard. Neem oil can and is used safely for oral hygiene in very small amounts.

Geo, I bleached my teeth a few years ago several times to treat coffee/tea staining. I probably weakened the enamel and now I'm paying for it. It's really not severe staining that I'm seeing now, but they are a little bit discolored. Ok. so I guess the mystery is solved. Not alot I can do at this point other than to just deal with the slightly off color. A note on neem as a tooth "too

I do rinse first, I've been doing that instinctually. But now that you mention the importance of it, I'm glad I do, and will rinse even better from now on. Thanks for that. About neem- I use one tiny drop on my toothbrush, it's super potent stuff. It's an age old ayurvedic remedy/tradition for maintaining oral health. In ancient India (and maybe still), neem branches were used as "toothb

Hey Jodi- Haha... strawberries. That's different. You'd think the pigment in them would make them stain more. I wonder about plain baking soda. It does seem to help. I just don't want to make things worse in the long run by eroding the enamel. Speaking of berries, I love blueberries. I bet that's another contributor to my dilemma.

Slightly greenish/brownish from all of the greens and dark root teas. I brush pretty much right after eating with neem oil. I've started using baking soda now, and they're a little better. It's not really that bad, I just don'w want it to progress... know what I mean??
