For me, crackers are the biggest culprit, though I try not to eat more than 3-4 saltines in a day. The second biggest would be beans. I can do fine for a week and then fix my family rice and beans and I can't help but have a few bites. And then my stomach whips around like a roller coaster!

Don't beat yourself up about the past. The past is past and the future isn't here yet. Just focus on what you are doing now. Or, at least that's my thought on things. If I've already eaten something I shouldn't (today it was bread because we were out of fresh fruits and veggies), I try to acknowledge and let go, so that I can begin again. Good luck with the cravings. They can be hard!

Thanks for the links. I started this (after 12 years of vegetarianism and 4 years as a vegan) hoping that it will help. I haven't seen any change in the arthritis symptoms so far, but it's only been 2 months. I wish there were more long-term (and large) studies of raw diet and RA (that last one is really more about the fasting), but I guess that's a lot to ask.

Interesting, Omega. I'll have to go read more about that. Is that true for Rheumatoid Arthritis, which is an autoimmune disease that affects all of the organs (unlike osteoarthritis, which is solely joint related)?

I'm high raw at the moment (working on all). I take many medications for rheumatoid arthritis, but nothing that has changed recently. A typical day would be a banana and peach for breakfast; a large salad with mixed greens, cucumber, red pepper, carrots, cilantro (or other); a banana/berry smoothie or 2 pieces of fruit for dinner.

Thanks, Jodi. It actually sort of feels like a low blood sugar headache. I'll work on that.

Jodi, I usually eat "dinner" (which is generally small - a piece of fruit or two or a smoothie) around 7 or so. After that, I do school work, sometimes a little yoga, read, and then go to bed around 11:30 and then am up around 7:00. Kleinphi, I'm not sure. I'll try it. Water first thing in the morning makes me gag a little, but I can suck it up : ) Newhove, How did you fin

Well, maybe, but I wonder why it just started in June... I get sinus headaches sometimes, but this doesn't really feel like sinus.

It starts during the night and by morning it's horrible. After I eat and am up a few hours, it mostly seems to go away.

Thanks again for all the feedback. My blender and food processor are dying, so I'm leaning toward a blender. Now I just need to talk the spouse into the expense.

I know a Greenstar etc. would be best, but I honestly cannot spend that right now (big family to feed/clothe/house). I might be able to get a Greenstar if I wait until around the new year, but I would rather not...

Oh yeah, I'm sure the carnivores in the house would totally go for that stove selling business. I'm all alone on this one folks, so all purchases and sacrifices have to be well argued and carefully considered.

I've been on a high raw diet for a little over a month now. It seemed like I was mostly past the detox issues, but then last week I had a horrible stomach virus, with a full 24 hours of extreme vomiting (7 pounds of weight lost in 1 day). The following day, I could only keep down a few saltines. The day after, I returned to mostly raw except for a slice of whole grain bread first thing in the

I don't have a juicer either, and a blender is a little more functional for my family, as I'm the only raw foodist in the house. Thanks for the info!

Yikes! This is complicated (and expensive). With a family of 8 in the economy we are in, it's hard to spend $500 on a blender.

Life is a little pricey right now, so I can't go top shelf, but I'm willing to spend more for something that will do more (i.e. if it will chop nuts finely and make a good smoothie, etc.).

Thanks! Maybe I will start peeking around for an inexpensive dehydrator. I'm sure my spouse would love it if I buy another kitchen appliance. BAHAHAHAHA

Hmmm ... no dehydrator yet. Can it be done in the oven on a very low temp (forever, I'm guessing) : ) I just made the most kickin' marinara sauce on zucchini "pasta"

Ok, I had a big snack (sesame dip, celery/carrot sticks, and some berries) and entered it all into nutridiary. It came out to about 1200 calories. Hmmm... Obviously, I need to work on this a little. I think that my calorie need is probably lower than most people because of some long term eating issues, but I know that I'll just compound the problem if I don't pull this up a bit. It feels lik

Ok, so today I had: * Breakfast - 1/3 cantaloupe * Lunch - Wilted kale salad with tomato and avocado dressing * Snack - 5 brazil nuts * Dinner - Smoothie with spinach (2/3 cup), strawberries (2/3 cup) and 1.5 bananas Am I getting anywhere close to a reasonable amount of food? I'm about 5'7" and about 125 lbs, if that clarifies.

I know this diet is going to require a decent intake of dark greens, but, I have a hard time with them. I can eat a baby spinach salad, or a couple of leaves of kale or collard, but I quickly start getting icked by it. The idea of drinking it leaves me so nonplussed that I can't even get started. Any advice?

Thanks all for the advice! Today went pretty well (I think). I have no clue yet about combining etc. so I'm sort of winging it while I read. Bfast - 3/4 cup blueberries/strawberries Snack - 2 bananas Lunch - 1 cup grapes, strawberries, mango, kiwi Snack - 4 brazil nuts Dinner - salad with green leaf lettuce, radish, tomato, raw sesame seeds, avacado, mushroom, olive oil and vinegar So

Thanks, David. I'll take 5! It's interesting (and a little disconcerting) to be this flabbergasted. At 43 with six kids, I'm used to telling other people what to do. Ha! I appreciate the tips.

Hi all! I'm a 15 year vegetarian and 3-4 year (can't remember) vegan. I'm super secure in vegan cooking/eating, but I want to transition to a high raw diet. I've been reading and reading and reading the last few weeks and I am not sure that I've gotten anything but confused. I'm generally eating about 80% raw for most meals/snacks now, but I'm not sure that I'm "doing it right," and
