High high alkaline foods and drinks. Cuucumbers and wheatgrass. A friend of mine used to have a list of various pH levels of a bunch of things ranging from the worst, which was like whisky or something, to the best which was wheatgrass. Cuucumbers and sprouted items were also high up there(any leafy greens). Water is neutral pH, with lemon is positive.

Whatever unhealthy foods you eat, you're going to crave. If you eat grains, you'll crave grains. The carbs will breakdown into sugar, which breaks down into acid. The sugar also promotes insulin production, which promotes fat storage. A switch to raw foods("cold turkey" is more effective than fasting. You need the enzymes from green leafy vegetables to "do the work" in your

The nut/grain addiction someone mentioned previously also applies to fruits, which are high in sugar. If you're going to eat fruit, make sure it's organic(red delicious apples have 50 times more sugar than organic). The sugar/carb rich foods you eat cause increased insulin production, which promotes fat storage. You'd be better off cutting out sugary foods from your diet, training your body t

Doesn't even matter how much you burn daily. Stu Mittleman ran an Amerithon(marathon across the entire U.S.) averaging 80 miles (2-3 marathons) per day for 56 days. I remember one thing he mentions in his book Slow Burn was that food for him wasn't just about getting energy, but eating foods that released the energy available in his body. Sugar is your emergency source. You burn it when you wo

Fruits aren't inherently acid, but the sugar breaks down into acid in the system. Our bodies are designed to hold 60 times more calories as fat energy than sugar energy, so excess sugar is attempted to be removed, ferments, breaks down into acid. Yeah, my tongue may love the taste of fruit, doesn't mean it's good for my body.

Are you even losing any hair in the first place? Chemotherapy patients don't even lose their hair unless they believe they're going to. Don't get yourself worked up over nothin'.

Mona, One thing I was referring to is getting a balanced source of nutrition. A lot of vegetarians/raw foodists don't get some of the nutrients that only come from sea vegetation like kelp and algae. The other thing I was referring to in combining is that different types of food digest at different rates and you don't want to mix them up. If you eat something that digests quickly with som

If you're combining your foods well and taking in all the nutrition you need, and underweight person will gain weight and an overweight person would lose weight. You may also combine this with exercise. The increased muscle would add weight and the body would also store fat where it's most useful: in the muscles(vs. the more convenient places like our stomachs or backsides).

Applied Kinesiology is what you're looking for. Stu Mittleman mentions it briefly in his book, and I forget the name of the who started it, but there's a course on it here in San Diego through the Learning Annex. I'll give you a basic example of how it works: I give someone a closed container with broccoli inside, but I don't tell them what it is. They hold the container with one arm, and h

It's not nearly as bad as meat. I just don't like seeing people consume insane amounts of fruit just because it fits in the category of raw foods. Fruits should be no more than 10% of your intake.

Basia, Unless you're doing muscle testing your "body" is the worst indicator of what you should be eating. The signal you get that tells you you're hungry is actually an indicator that you need to drink. If I listened to my body I'd be eating sugary fruits all day and throwing my Ph balance way over to the acid side. If your body isn't already in a pristine state, you have no i

It is a dense drink to say the least. And your doctor's right about one thing, it's WAY too much sugar. Your body only stores about 2,500 calories of sugar energy at a time, so most of the sugar humans digest turns in to acid in the system. The sugar also slows your red blood cells way down, pretty much putting them to sleep until the sugar can be removed from your blood stream. I got that you

That's not true. A raw foods vegetarian actually takes in MORE calories than are necessary, and also the enzymes and nutrients to manage those extra calories(storing them in the body or removing them). There's nothing wrong with taking in too many calories on a raw foods diet. If you're overweight you'll still lose weight, if you're underweight, you'll gain weight.

Have you tried dehydrating foods? You can make stuff in a dehydrator without killing the enzymes. A friend of mine found some good raw snack bars called GojiBars, and he learned how to make them on his own.

There's a difference between getting sick and *feeling* sick. When you detox, your body will often kick those toxins into the best resource it has for removing toxins from your body: your stomach. Your tummy doesn't like having toxins in it, and it's gonna tell you so, thus the experience of feeling sick....it'll pass. Stick with it!

Eat small meals every 2-3 hours. What most people interpret as a hungry feeling is actually your body calling for more water, so make sure you drink plenty too. When I eat raw I don't always get the "full" feeling, but I do feel satisfied, and my hunger is abated for a lot longer than it ever was eating cooked foods. Speaking of nutrients, I just signed up at this organic foods co-o

"That will leave Green juices, salads and water." - Sounds ideal. "How can I keep my energy levels up enough to get through work?" - As you lower the sugar intake, your body turns to fat as it's primary resource for energy. The average body can only hold 2,500 calories of sugar energy and 150,000 calories of fat energy. HOW you exercise directly impacts what your

And actually, wheatgrass IS good for high bloodpressure. It helps break up the cholesterol clogging the arteries, not to mention alkalizes the system, negating the original cause of that cholesterol buildup. Also softens the hardened arteries allowing them to relax and expand, thus lowering the blood pressure. And raw honey isn't really good for anyone. Have you ever seen what sugar does to

He needs green leafy vegetables. He needs to alkalize, bigtime, and get some enzymes in there, I'm sure he's really deficient in them. Put a few greens in a blender, maybe a little cold-pressed extra virgin olive oil, and water it down A LOT. If you blend up the greens without watering it down it'll be real heavy. Don't even give him any fruits right now, the sugar will only contribute to his

Ok, to answer your question: my interpretation of Fruitarianism is someone who eats only fruits. I don't have a problem with fruit, but I would have a problem with someone eating 100% fruit(my interpretation, correct me if I'm wrong). It's not too bad if it's organic, but a genetically engineered Granny Smith apple now has 50 times more sugar than an organic one.

GonnaBe - Doctors have that choice to withhold what you ask for because THEY ARE ACCOUNTABLE FOR YOUR HEALTH, merchants are not. If you want to stick your nose in people's business, sell privately, not as a public company. You'll drive yourself nuts trying to filter through everyone. Besides, juicers are like a gateway to the health world(I'm drawing a parallel to gateway drugs here, just be

How long have you been eating raw? Are you 100% raw? One thing I know is if your body is more acid, alkaline foods taste more bitter. Wheatgrass is an excellent indicator, the more alkaline your body gets, the better it tastes to you.

The typical symptoms I've experienced are a sick to my stomach feeling, feverish, light-headed or dizzy, inability to focus mentally, weakness(which is odd, cause I feel weaker and yet stronger at the same time). This is on the few times where I've gone from a bad diet to a cleanse of raw vegetables(no sugary fruits), and I usually experience this around the 2nd or 3rd day and the symptoms for
