SS when scratched goes through a process called passivation. What this means is that the material re-seals itself. There are chemical studies proving that scratched stainless steel passivates and 'heals' its own wound.

Look sty a Retcel Mill-Rite. I don't know what would do all those but the Retcel with both stone and steel burrs would do a lot.

Paul, I'm curious about what you said regarding chromium in stainless steel. My understanding is that the only time chromium can be an issue is when steel was scratched and then for the period of time until itpassivates there could be a small release of chromium but the passivation occurs fairly quickly, comments? David

Use a coarse diamond hone and stroke both facets of each tooth. If a hone is not enough, use a fine file.
