Note to anybody trying to stick with anything: it's very difficult to do anything different from what we've been programmed to do, without positive reinforcement. It seems to me positive reinforcement comes in at least one of three ways - 1) you believe in it so _absolutely_ that your faith that it is right whatever the detractors, pessimists, conflicting evidence may suggest or say (I felt like

Breakfast: Just had my morning quart of juice - a base of lemon-cabbage, then one tomato, one parsnip, and lots of endive, parsley, kale, baby bok choy. A little green pepper. It seemed fairly intensely green. Some interesting observations from the mistakes-experiments department: I added barley grass juice powder to this - a tablespoon - I like barley grass powder but I suspect it doesn't do

Veronique, as ship numerologist I am trusting you to co-generate psyrotechnics in the telepathic dept. today as 2.27.2007 looks like a pretty mystical date number.

Dynamite, just read this. Well, well, marvelous input from Damn Iris there - only the world never looks much different to me in the morning; I'd not say that was usually true. But I think you need a tall jug of celery-cuke-lemon-parsley forthwith. I'm going to make some now. So you get that sorry arrogant depraved eating thing all the time? Take heart - there are beautiful things too beautiful

Thank you so much for the gentle wind, Suncloud - I think we all need it. Elvy has one more tough day to go, and Carrie's mouth is grumpy and she is trying to fast in a stoopid situation. Me, if I were around three standard awful drugged damned and disgusto eaters and trying to fast, I'd be cool, but put me in a household where everyone was eating buffet deli vegan, or scumpty crisp salads with n

Nori sheets are very low in sodium/salt - that is why they are my favorite seaweed. Raspberry, I personally feel comfortable having 10 in a day sometimes - they and lemon make my salads interesting when I am not doing fat or nightshades. I certainly think you could do 2 or 3 or listen to/give in to your craving. I have never seen that warning on any of the brands of nori I use. Unless it's new. I

Some notes: you could do caffeine-free green tea (can you find it there?), but caffeine would in my opinion seriously screw up what you are trying to do - in fact a lot of people use their fast to break addictions like caffeine. I don't know if you have caffeine-tea a lot, but you may possibly experience caffeine withdrawal if you fast without caffeine - so use this board and Greenpeach. Keeping

I get that eyeball thing - I'll have to track when - wonder what it means - usually it upsets me and I think it's a signal I've had too much herb or sugar or something, but maybe it is detox. Helmster Carrie Antoinette, watch out for that cake. Don't let your vessel be hit by an icing and sink in the North Atlantic. Being flexible is why you're a basketball star. Or Starr because it's fine

I am no pro-American, but eating healthily in Europe is soooo near impossible (at least it was, last time I was there), unless you rely on one of the great mail-order organic businesses. I understand there was a Saturday organic farmer's market in Paris - I don't know how things have changed, though. It seems about 10-20 years behind what's average here. They still call "salad" somethin

Oh, helmster, I have to make brocco-breakfast before it's afternoon, but I have to commend your joke, and add one of mine, though we'll be bumped to "other stuff" forum if we turn this into a string of what's the only joke you know? The only joke I know is: What's a dyslexic insomniac agnostic? Someone who lies awake at night wondering if there's a dog. I thought Sparky the aisthe

I apologize, shuffleboard-bingo-crew; I did not realize you are in France - I am on Eastern time in the States. You can do a lot with spinach, lettuce, and chard, and also I don't think the others are keeping to organic only. Yes, you can do herb teas when you don't feel like making juice, but try not to allow them to keep you from having juice, as the juice will be your way to feel full and even

Captain not-a-Cook reporting - oh, wow, matey, that sounds intense - we will understand if you can't report in or if you somewhere in the next two days get eaten by an eat-shark - but of course we are watching over your surfing and we think you should have an asparagus snorkel and a collards wet-suit, and cuke-and-zuke goggles so you can see where you are headed clearly without getting red-teary-

"I would much rather walk beside both of you than run ahead so I'm done counting days. I'll be done when I'm done. I would much rather be here than treading water on my own. " Most royally said, Helmster - counting days is really quite silly. We'd much, much, much rather sail with you, so thank you for turning the boat around to get us. With days in mind, one is still, as brain, telling

Well, for clearing your mind and getting in touch with your buried creativity, fasting would be a better bet than solids. Royal helmster Carrie and rear-admirable Veronique have creativity and clarity coming out of their pores galore. Eating more fruit will certainly not help if fruit is not all you are eating. I think even the Grahamites would say that. I guess you could try eating fruit to

Welterweight MC versus bantam gjf - I won't assert that green juice fasting is the right method - fasting may not be the best thing where overeating and bingeing history exists (I have that too), but in a contest between it and MC, there's, er, no contest. The fact that you were addicted to alcohol (congratulations, by the way, your victory is truly incredible and inspiring) both indicates that y

Oh, I forgot - here's a cool self-home-test you can do to see if you have candida overgrowth. Spit into a glass of wqater. Wait 15 minutes. Go back and look at your spit in the water. If your spit has white tendrils hanging down into the water, that's candida. I forget if it has to be done first thing before you eat. Let us know your results!

Here is a link to a standard candidiasis questionnaire. If you are intrigued about more symptoms traceable to candidiasis, let me know. What interests me is how many cognitive, emotional, behavioral things "wrong" with us, and/or that other people think are "wrong with us", are actually not personality, but symptoms of candida overgrowth. There's controversy everywhere, in

Suncloud - I did see that film long ago, I forget whether it was a "Joseph Losey" film I wanted to see or a "Dean Stockwell" film I wanted to see - perhaps it was both. I had quite forgotten about it, though. I'd like one of the gjf missions to be to remind people that war is anti-green and that green is anti-war (I am sure you all know that just as dog is the reverse of god,

Very cool about the basketball, helmster matey - juicey energy fun! Whereabouts are you, anyway? I think I feel scared and I think the anger could overwhelm me. But you are right - gjf-ing makes for readiness to see what is in there. My head finally stopped spinning, after only all day. I was very happy to read LV say "misery is the gateway to resplendence" - that's nice, cause

Carriesy, even when it is not easy being green, we are here in the peach for you if you are in fear of being impeached from your position at the fasting helm. No, I know precisely what you mean about these subtle but glaring (!) signs that one has de-centered. This oceany voyage is about center and finding/knowing/being self, but its hair-trigger sensitivity will let you KNOW when you are OFF,

Yes, yes, and yes (just read your sugary last post). My juice tasted fantaburific, but it was a MISTAKE. Nope, we are going green. Green and mean to all those yeast-loving, ecology-damaging sugars so loved by the critters within. They've had their happy life and freedom - in me - they've had a year-round holiday I never get - now it's my turn to be happy. I wish them no harm - maybe they will jus

I couldn't agree with you more about sugary liquids - about your panicky attack: "because of the nature of fasting and the emotional confrontations it generates, fear almost always arises. It's exceptionally important that the surroundings for fasting be supportive and nurturing so that the parts of you that are frightened can feel as comforted and nurtured as possible. They have to feel tha

Have definitely decided carrot juice has no place in my green juice fast - Helmster and Rear-Admira(b)l(e), keep me on course!!!! My head is still tingly. I don't get this with green combinations. Also, I am looking forward to getting my triturating gear-juicer out of storage this week. The Breville is fun, but it doesn't do grass well. All my lovely pulp, and no garden - I hope kitty li

About the MC: do you mean the traditional MC with maple syrup and cayenne? I used to do this quite a bit. There are lots of reasons I prefer to green juice fast: firstly, maple syrup isn't raw, and I've read it isn't vegan; and if you have any candida issues at all, it (doing the traditional MC) will make them worse. I don't know how raw cayenne pepper is - spice companies like Frontier won't say

Greenists (I am thinking particularly of Buhner and Barbara Simonsohn) and probably some chakra-energy-medicine types as well, say that green is, as well as being the color of hope and renewal (for obvious reasons), the color of the heart and of love. I wonder if it is true, and what it means if it is? (I wonder what that's supposed to mean, and if it's true?) Buhner believes that we perceive wit

Oh, well, jealousy's the pits ('n' not the peach pits, either - coal black pits or something like that) - they call it the green-eyed monster, but there's nothin' GREEN about it - it's white like bleached bread and tears - so we will stay peachy, so as not to hurt feelings. Don't worry - that's not a purple cloud; it's just some red cabbage I mixed in to our back-to-the-primordial-future ambro

So did just I - in keeping with this juice-feast thing, I made a whopping 32 ounces - one-fourth carrot, one-fourth lemon, and the remaining half made from a little parsnip, a little parsley, celery, green cabbage, green pepper, lots of broccoli, endive, and a whole package of green-leafy sprouts. Drank it (chew your juice...) out of the plastic pitcher... Boy, am I full. Also brain feels a bit t

WY - yes, we've started an extended greeny juice fast over at the main forum, but I definitely want to do it for life. I feel that the two prominent strands of raw-foodism today (besides just all-out junk food rawism, also called "gourmet", the fruit-based and the fat-based, leave an immense amount to be desired, if one looks at the people who supposedly walk their talk in promoting them

Oh, yeah, that business about going back in time - it's this concept from juicefeasting.com that you "juice feast" for one day for every 120 days since you were born - funny to think that if I do it, I will fast for 1/120th of my entire life - I am conflicted about this juice-feasting thing, as they allow oil and even bee pollen (?), and just any amount of sugar - but the part I'm going
