Apparently the toll is 51. All those children - it breaks my heart. Sister lives in OKC and she is safe - no electricity though.

Banana Who: I've been putting tons of watermelon, strawberries, and some spinach in the Vitamix and have had a huge juice for breakfast every morning. The spinach color kind of throws you off (more brown juice than green LOL), but it is delicious. I love watermelon juice.

Yah, the 8006 is much more attractive than the one I went with, the 8004. But the mechanics are exactly the same, right?

I actually bought foodstuffs there: some delicious raw macaroons. I also buy beads and jewelry supplies. I haven't had a problem yet with sellers from Etsy.

BananaWho: You hit the nail on the head. I live in the bible belt. Honestly, I've been around it all my life, so I just let it go over my head. People can believe what they want to believe. But I don't know: I saw all the diversity in the room - Muslim, Buddhist, agnostic, etc... and I got upset. And I was also upset because I wanted healthy tips - not a sermon!

Jalan: Your story sort of reminds me of situation I experienced, only reverse of yours. I work at a university. At this university, sometimes brown-bag seminars are held - you know, seminars held during lunch and you bring your own food. Well, this seminar was about weight loss. Most of our department went to this seminar. And the speaker was a dentist. At first, the information he di

I don't know if this helps you or not, but Buddhism is not a religion - at least the way it is explained to me. Buddha did not teach that he was a god or that people follow blindly by his example, and he definitely did not want people to worship him (again, the way it is explained to me). It is up to each of us to become enlightened. The Meditation Center I attend is led by a leader who is a C

I think quite a few people do this. For me, however, it really didn't add anything (except a few drops) to my already delicious juice. For me, it was more trouble than it was worth, and the returns didn't make the juice any better tasting. I use an Omega 8004 and it does a pretty good job of squeezing the juice out the first time though. YMMV

I am unnaturally attached to my vitamix! Possibly because I've never spent so much money on a kitchen appliance in my entire life. I REALLY wanted the fire engine red vitamix but the reason I didn't get it (weird) was because I thought it would be the first thing that a thief would take if they broke into my house! So I got the plain ol' black one, and do not regret my decision. I only wi

Don't have any recipes, but I heartily concur with you on the vitamix. We bought the 6000 series model and I love it. Right now, I'm trying to find the perfect raw ranch dressing to dip my veggies in. Haven't found it yet.

How much does a green smoothie cost at your Uni? Near where I work, I can get a green smoothie and a berry smoothie for $3.99/each, total > $7. And that is cheap.... I wish more restaurants would sell smoothies.

I'm very happy with my Omega 2004. I think the chrome one (8006) is nice but I'm not into aesthetics too much. Same machine - all I care about is the mechanics of the thing. It's funny: until I began to care about my health, the only reason I was in the kitchen was to make coffee. Juicing, vitamxing, citrus juicing? Spend most of my time there now!

I have the Omega J8004. Love it. Juices greens efficiently and leaves a dry pulp. Only drawback (maybe to some, not to me), is time suckage as the Omega squeezes the juice out, so it's not as speedy as the centrifrugal juicers - but it's more thorough, in my opinion. Also it takes time to cut vegs to fit into the shute. I would say in the morning I'm in the kitchen for 45 minutes juic
