Witarianin, how can I know if I have parasites? And if I can determine, through some sort of testing I guess, that I do indeed have parasites, then what is a good next step? You mention the first stage. What's that? Taylor, I'll see to it that I get more apples and some of these vegetables. I so crave sweet stuff.

Yeah, Scott doesn't hold veganism in much esteem. He's always chiding raw vegans. And can't say enough about how he feels that raw animal protein does him so much good. I won't argue but I'm not interested. I friend and I stayed with him a couple of weeks a few years back. How did you get in touch with him? He's a big durian fan too. I don't know if he's still doing it but he was looking

Bryan, one of my favorite things that you've mentioned with respect to 80/10/10 is letting go. I think you haven't said specifically letting go of what. But it's not hard to think of many things to let go of. Food, eating, and other things in life. That's good spiritual practice. It's just good practical living. Call it spiritual practice or don't, it's just good to let go.

Thanks Uti. I'll try again. Just with my signature. If that doesn't work then the others won't work either. Uti, could you say a bit about the ashram, and, the location? Where in No. Cal? What's the organization and daily life like? Is there a website? What's the name of the ashram? I associate ashrams with Hinduism. Is there a Hindu base there? I see you're doing yoga there, which I also ass

I just finished doing yoga. Nice. As always. As Gurmukh said to breathe in the sound "sat" and exhale the sound "nam" and explained what they mean, it occured to me that this would go counter to some people's other religious beliefs. Or some people, like my mom, are bitter about all religion, even non-religious spiritual practices. There are probably quite a few reasons out th

I read somewhere that purslane is rich in omega 3. I love this sour little "weed".

Bryan's the main guy promoting this book and this diet. There are some determined detractors and some suporters. Search this term or go back a couple of pages to find a long and somewhat turbulent thread. I myself am very interesed in this, diet in large part because of a couple of things that Bryan said in that thread, and probably in other threads too. I like the picture you sent with you m

HIYA! Finally got a picture uploaded to photobucket.com. My favorite picture in the world. A little bizarre. I like bizarre things. Like the first half of Frank Zappa's musical career, and of course Zen language and teachings. If you're interested in looking at the picture, well, cut and paste the URL please! Sorry I still couldn't get it linked to this page. I've tried and don't k

coconutcream, I really enjoy hearing and reading someone say they like doing something that is different from me. Helps me see things differently. I always like that. Same with you Rawgosia. If I let myself eat only things I like, and when I want, .... No. I'm scared of what I'd do. There is a voice in me that says, "Scared of what?" Let yourself go, then when you've had enough, really

I sometimes do Gurmukh's yoga DVD. I ordered it over the internet. Before it came I decided that I didn't want to do only the physical part of it. I found that she has a book out so I ordered it. It's called The Eight Human Talents. I've only read the intro and the first chapter. The first chapter is the first human talent, which is acceptance. The eight talents correspond to the seven chakras an

Boy, Tashi, I wish you all the best. I don't have any advice or anything other than hang in and stay open to people for help. Like folks on this forum. There's so much practical support and encouragement. Hang in there. And let yourself smile. That usually helps.

I have a friend in Thailand who used to live there. His brother still lives there. Yeah, they eat raw meat, and so does my friend. If you're interested, I could put you in touch with him. He's not aggressive or anything like some people claim about raw meat eaters. But now that you know they eat meat there ....

Thanks everyone. I haven't taken the melatonin. I am doing things to see to it that I get sleepy without the stuff. This morning I woke up a bit early, not sufficiently rested. I felt like sleeping in but the thoughts wouldn't stop. Each time I looked at the thoughts, and each time I asked if it was worth my while to indulge in such useless internal chatter. Of course each thought was just that -

HIYA! Yeah, sugar cane is a grass! You should see how tall they get. Two meters and more. Fresh squeezed is the way to go with the stuff. Sweet sweet. I have such a sweet tooth! Did you know that bamboo is also a grass?!

Yeah, sweet fruits with sour fruits. In small quantities, I think we can get away with pretty much anything. I tried it once but not just a little bit. I couldn't believe it when I saw a friend drink a banana orange smoothie and get away with it! So I decided to try it but ....

Ever tried "lip-ups"? For video footage, just go to one of those old "Happy Days" episodes and watch Potsy and Ralph kissing the side of the pinball machine!! Fonzi's recommendation.

uti, I'm really touched by your response. And thanks for being open and gracious. Nice. Bryan, I did try to put my picture in my signature but it didn't work. (I followed your instructions in the Formatting post.) I thought I tried after that post, but apparently not. I registered with Photobucket but couldn't get the pictures uploaded. I've got one that I love, another that I like a lot, and

Be careful of food combining: mixing sweet fruits (bananas for example) and sour fruits (sour oranges for example). I know people who can drink a banana-orange smoothie and not having any trouble. But I've tried it and didn't feel so good afterwards.

As for the first question, well, what are the alternatives? Eating organic cooked food? Organic is generally more expensive, period. I don't see the dilemma here. Suggest that your friend try it. Buy as much organic as possible. It's a good idea to emphasize foods that conventional growers use little or no agricultural chemicals on. But it's also a good idea not to eat too narrow a range of foods

khale, that was an interesting post. I'd like to say that I'll try this too but really doubt it, considering various things in my life right now. I've often wondered if I have candida. How would you know? I've seen the symptoms that people say that you might have if you have candida, but many of them are similar to symptoms of other conditions and diseases. There must be some sort of medical

Hey uti, lighten up a bit. You're hurt by some things that coco wrote?! I'll agree with both uti and with suncloud and say I don't see anything wrong with taking something from one culture and incorporating it into another. It's been going on for eternity and isn't going to stop anytime soon. And certainly Americans (I'll just assume coco, that you're in the USA) aren't the only ones doin

I put my food today into both fitday and nutritiondata a little while ago. Wow. These sites are a bit daunting. So much info to digest. Slowly. The two sites seem to differ significantly. I'll try them both for a while to see which I like better. fitday will accomodate kimchi while nutritiondata will not. But so far, after only one try, I like the nutritiondata because it has so much more informa

I used to eat them raw when I lived in Thailand. I've never understood why people say you need to cook them. Just make sure they're really soft and ripe. Delicious.

I've heard that some people in India will take a really ripe mango, knead it and knead it and knead it until the inside is like juice. Then they'll poke a small hole in a convenient spot, and suck out the juice. I've tried it but, well, can't say that it turned out anything like I imagined! Summertime will provide another chance.

I ain't "thrivin" on raw! I have eaten vegetarian since 1994 I guess. About a year later someone introduced me to the raw idea. He said he feels "ecstacy" all the time. I don't mean the drug either. Since then I've eaten mostly raw. There've been times when I lived in places where raw just didn't feel like it fit in, and there've been times when I wanted to try something el

I THINK I have read, realize I'm not certain of this, that all clays are safe to ingest. There are lots of sites on the internet and I think that's where I read this. Of course, there are lots of people writing lots of things on the internet and can't be certain of much of it.

I've been walking a lot. A year or two ago I realized that I really enjoy walking. I once walked for three weeks with no destination other than to get to the next town. It was great. I would have continued but my feet got cut, then infected, so I was down for a while. Other things cropped up while I was recovering and so decided to quit. It felt so good to just walk ... for hours and hours a day.

With the frequency of postings and the length of some of them, seems like it must take hours to go through them. Bryan, you don't read all of these do you? You must put at least some of these through some sort of computerized screening, no?
