According to Chinese medicine, fruits are yin (female), so perhaps that has something to do with it. Are you detoxing? Fruits are great cleansers and when you detox you can release stored emotions.

I discovered an onion which had started sprouting on my counter. You know when green shoots come out of the bulb? I once nibbled on one and it tasted like a strong green onion. Anyway, I took this bulb and put it in a jar filled with water. Do you think it'll grow? Can I just leave it here on my counter?

007: Yeah, it was a mason jar with a handle! Where did you see one--what kind of store? *Edit: D'oh! Google is my friend! Sorry. It may even be available at Walmart. I have never laid eyes on ones with handles--but I am also looking for a screw-type lid. I don't like those canning lids with the rings...I have scoured the shelves in the kitchen section for Pyrex stuff that might include glas

I have some jars which I cleaned out. Pickle jars tend to be too wide, but I have a nice 12 oz. mason jar which works great. It has a screw top, which I find preferable to those canning lids. Glass is just superior to plastic. Better mouth feel, drinks stay cooler longer, doesn't retain odors, etc. I was just on the Green Smoothie site and saw a pic of a mason-type jar with a HANDLE! I tried to p

I want to thank all of you for responding. It has been very helpful for me. I have to fight a tendency towards perfectionism. It's fine to try and do the best one can, but being all-or-nothing can lead to nothing, which is worse than something. In regards to nuts sprouting even when heated higher than 120 degrees, it is hard to understand how it can be so. The author I mentioned in my original po

I purchased a raw food book because of all the rave reviews I read on here. For the life of me, I cannot think of the title! It always escapes me...It says 'live diet' or something and the author is a woman with the last name starting with 'S.' It's a huge book, too, but the point is that she mentions how oat groats are usually steamed (to dehull them?) and she called a dried fruit company about

I have the 8006 and no problems whatsoever with the plastic auger. Did they have steel ones before? I understand the irration of it but it's been perfectly fine. You have to exert a little force when making the juice, it's a bit slow, but it's not a deal-breaker.

That's because it's fermented, right? It's alcoholic (at least a little bit; I have seen the stuff they sell at health stores say there is a little alchohol).

I cannot believe what they are doing now: Please forgive my language, but this incenses me! First it was almonds and now spices? They either want to irradiate them, zap them with heat, or poison them "for our safety..." I am sorry, but I DO smell a conspiracy. It's usually vegetarian items these days instead of animal products, if you notice. Last week it was hydrolyzed vegetable pro

Hey, Vinny: LOL- are you joking? Of course, I haven't been posting for too long on here, but even if I had been, I would never think to be obligated to announce that I am taking my leave. This is only the Internet. Don't get it confused with real life. Even if you PM, email or call your online friends, it still is no substitute for a flesh-and-blood relationship.

I was just looking at the marketplace on here and the Sproutman has a soil-free wheatgrass grower. He says that soil-free is equivalent nutritionally to the regular one (I have Wigmore's book on wheatgrass and I cannot recall if she believes this as well). If this is true, couldn't I just sprout wheat berries in jars like clover and alfalfa? I don't understand why I need to buy this contraption i

Yes, I realize that you'd have to stop it and open the thing, but that wouldn't bother me, especially since it's so powerful it's only on briefly.

Rawpreston: LOL! Me, too. I am not feeling them very much, although I managed to get a good one recently and then I understood that they can actually be delicious if they are FRESH. And I don't know if you are aware of this, but supposedly they are the most nutricious apples, in terms of antioxidant activity. It seems that the peel is the reason (maybe its dark color?)...
