Well, WY, I don't really mind making my body "work"...burns calories, I should hope! Main thing is, though: what's in that fiber? Just fiber? In which case, I wouldn't mind tossing it as I probably have enough fiber now, what with 128 fluid ounces of fruit and veggie smoothies every day!!

I wonder too, Jane...my live-in g/f is now clamoring for me to get us a juicer, after I'd just gotten us a Vitamix, but I can't really justify the expense so quickly -- I want to get more "settled down" with blending smoothies first (besides, juicing looks like much more of a hassle). Anyway, to answer your question, my gf claims that juicing has got to be more nutritious simply by v

KidRaw, Thanks for the references but all I see is that the Utah Republican is against government regulation (no surprise, as most supplement companies are located in his state and it was on their behalf that he first shot down FDA regulation way back in the '90s!).... Again, let's just keep this simple: 1. What's wrong with the government mandating that supplements contain the ingredien

Well, I'm here 'cause of the blending and juicing...if it all works out, I probably would go vegetarian and even vegan -- maybe even raw! But for now this seems sensible to me, to try things out and see how they go. And they ain't going, it seems! What's so odd to me is how it was fine for the first week but now appears to be getting worse...I thought things are supposed to get better!!

Hey, y'all, can you help me out?? I'm into my third week of blending veggies and fruits -- mostly veggies, like two-thirds or even a hundred percent half the time -- and aside from ALTERNATING CONSTIPATION AND DIARRHEA I am also ALWAYS HUNGRY!!! I blend twice a day, morning and night, and generally consume a whole 64-ounce karafe each time. I also happen to eat one to two "normal meal

My g/f said the voiceover on the Norwalk Juicer video on its site mentioned something to the effect that fiber is waste, that even rabbits didn't want to eat it. Is juiced fiber just waste, then? Can I in "good conscience" toss it out, after all??

Don't know if y'all are aware of this, but I'm posting this as a sort of public service announcement for those like me who try to keep an open yet skeptical mind about things: "...the the main commercial use of antioxidants is to act as food preservatives..."

Plus, what to do with the pulp/fiber?? I saw mention somewhere about using something called a dehydrator to make veggie crackers...feasible? TIA Looking at Omega 350HD v. Green Star GSE-5000, but really don't want to simply toss away pulp/fiber....

LOL, thanks...I should have phrased my question differently: how to NOT CREATE foam in the first place! =D My g/f has the theory that it has to do with time spent blending, but I've disproved that...so I'm not sure what causes foam (I mean, what process, what action; I know foam has to do with air)....

44. Seeds
Say, I notice from the videos that people seem to just chuck the whole apple in. What about the seeds?? Do they add to the taste?? Blending or juicing, it seems there are certain things people just chuck in whole!

Hi y'all, Just wondering whether anyone had recommendations for Multivitamins, Omega-3/6/9 stuff...I'm looking at brands like Nature's Way, NOW Foods, Kirkland...not sure whether they're all the same. Too bad that Republican from Utah got the supplement industry exempt from FDA scrutiny back in the '90s!! Anyway, your experiences would be helpful; thanks....

Okay, will try! Really hard to wrap my mind around the concept as the big appeal was how I could just down everything in fifteen seconds! BTW, do you also take green powders? I wonder if I might OD on phytonutrients or something....

Hmmm, interesting: so it's the softer stuff first?? I'd imagine that the harder stuff needs to be closer to the blades.... Anyway, thanks for that tip!

Hey, it's the n00b again! So much contradictory info...apparently now it's possible to overdose on veggies, too: too much oxalic acid, too much fiber -- good grief, what next! Any safe guidelines?? Will eating some good old-fashioned chocolate cupcakes help counteract such effects??? ;-) Seriously, I'd much appreciate it if someone clued me in...I am very much enjoying the idea of dump

Sure thing, though I kinda chew my smoothie as it is, so maybe I'm already doing what you're suggesting, unless you mean to really chew, as if chewing food, soup or something. Thanks again for the advice! Curious, though...what about juice?? I mean, when juicing, one naturally just drinks the stuff...how come no "pre-digestion" is necessary there?? On account of the lack of fiber?

Say, where's the FAQ?? Sorry if the following questions had already been answered. 1. Are there any general principles of smoothie-making? For example, maybe something like "no more than a quarter of your blender carafe ought to be ice cubes" or "half of your carafe should be full of fruits".... Like, someone was quoted in one of these threads about how the secret to smo

Hey, thanks, Coco! Okay, so there's an initial shock to the system, eh?? Interesting, I'd never counted on that. I thought this "cleanse" stuff was just metaphorical or a placebo effect. As for chewing the smoothie, I dunno, not much to chew, really; feels like bits of ice, mostly, and probably tiny particles of veggie and fruit, yeah...but part of the love affair I have with sm
