Pst... what models do you all have that work well, and are pretty easy to figure out?

Hi! I'm borrowing a dehydrator from my in-laws, so that I can try out some cracker and bread recipes, maybe cookies, stuff like that. It's not one of those rectangular-tray dehydrators like the excalibur, though... it's one with stacked ring-shaped trays. It has three settings- high, med, and low. The trays have holes in them, for drainage I suppose. My in-laws mostly use it to make jerky. So

Wow, frozen bananas did work for ice cream! I put them in the blender with some almond milk and cocoa nibs for chocolate ice cream cravings (^_^) Tomato and avocado salad kind of works for the meat ones, but is not entirely satisfying. (>_< Arg. I shall keep experimenting!! For the moment, I'm compromising with morningstar veggie buffalo wings and such. Arie

I'm not sure about the recipe you used, but here's how I make nut cheese: Soak a few handfuls of nuts (I do sunflower seeds) in water overnight, then rinse and grind up in a food processor. Add a few spoonfuls of rejuvelac, mix, and press down into a container (bowl, tupperware, etc). Cover with cheesecloth, and let sit for about eight hours. My mixtures are pretty dry, so there is no liquid sepe

Hello! I'm just about five months pregnant and having the following wonderful healthy cravings: ice cream, milkshakes, deli-meat sandwiches, HAMBURGERS, mozzerella sticks, and breaded chicken tenders. I actually grew up vegetarian, and became vegan in college, so these are pretty weird cravings for me! Does anyone mayhaps have suggestions for raw (or even not raw, but healthy) substitutes? Ari

Do they check you for nutrient deficiences at check-ups? I'm only just out of the first trimester, so I don't know yet. That might help the situation, though. My doctor does seem to think I'm a little nutty. (>_< But the way I figure it, women had babies for millennia before prenatals were invented... the baby's dad's sister had two healthy girls without vitamins as well, and she's a nurse t

My doctor is pressuring me to take prenatal vitamins... pretty much trying to convince me that if I don't, I'm at a horrible risk of having an unhealthy or even deformed baby. From what I've researched on my own, this doesn't seem to be true at all, but I was wondering if anyone on the board has experience with a pregnancy without supplementation? I track what I eat on fitday (since I got pregna

I'm wondering about the nutrient content of juices... I met with a free nutritionist at school, and she suggested I get more calcium. I know that greens have lots of good quality calcium, but I'm wondering if drinking them in juiced-form is just as good? Does anyone know? Lately I just don't want to eat salads!

hmmm, I've never had a green smoothie before. Do you add any liquid? How much do you add of greens, in proportion to fruit? Want to try, want to try. (^_^)

Thanks everyone- I will try ginger suplements or tea. I'll also try to keep small bites of food around to avoid an empty stomach. (My 'morning' sickness lasts all day too, and I'm usually stuck at school for about 8 hours) What foods did everyone have the best luck with when pregnant? I'm finding myself craving fatty things, but when I try to eat healthy fats (like avocados or nuts) I wind up

Howdy! I'm about 7 weeks pregnant and having some pretty bad morning sickness. The remedies I've heard so far are ginger ale, saltines, and lemons... sadly even the natural ginger ales are too sweet and make me sicker, saltines do nothing, and lemons only help while I'm actually smelling or eating them. Does anyone know of any natural remedies? I'm having a tough time eating as well, since the sm

possibly silly question, but... is laver the same thing as nori, but not dried in sheets?? I tried it for the first time the other day, and it tastes suspiciously nori-like. Hmmm.

Sounds GOOD, mallow (^_^) I never thought of adding seaweed, or miso. Does adding some already cultured veggies to a new batch help them to ferment more quickly?? Arie

I eat those all the time- I carry around a bag of them and some almonds. Very dry, but nice to munch on. Sometimes they have pits, too, so gotta be careful! (^_^)

Let me guess... Coast to Coast AM? (^_^) I heard the program about this disease (was it last week?), went to look at some pictures on the internet, and thuroughly frightened myself. At least it's getting taken seriously by doctors now...

Howdy there. (^_^) I've just started playing with fermenting vegetables, and I'm wondering if anyone has any interesting ideas for herbs or spices to use, or unusual vegetable combinations? So far, I've only done cabbage, carrots, celery, and cauliflower greens, with a little dulse. Would greatly appreciate any suggestions!! Arie

Isn't there a natural healing college in Arizona? Maybe Tuscon? Wait, I found it.... Kinda far from you, but I've heard good things about it. (^_^)
