omg! I am a poor grad student, and I was thinking of doing exactly that -- using the juicer I got off of craigslist and then blending the waste and juice... I have a good juicer and only a decent KitchenAid blender. I am not starting until I am done doing my detox fast, so that experiment will have to wait

lovely! I hope my food prep improves by then! I am slowly getting back into raw after falling off the wagon something fierce, and this sounds like a positive motivator for me (I am in Central Sq, Cambridge)

Hi! yes, plant in dirt and snip them once they get big enough. It was kind of tedious to take each hull off the top of the green - and I am sure there must be a faster way... Here are some instructions:

I bike to/from my school. That is 7 miles total of chaotic city biking. Today I am taking the subway in and running home (with backpack). I try to alternate. I also do a exercise ball, hand weights, medicine ball routine that I picked parts up of the 'ultimate new york body plan' fitness program book. That book kicked my ass into shape quickly, but a year of grad school turned me back into a

I've always liked wheat. I blend the sprouts up and make 'bread'. The sprouts alone are very sweet. Mung beans are nice. Red clover is tasty too. I actually grew sunflower greens, and those were amazing. I really have to try kamut. I've bet that + flax would make an awesome bread!

Hi! Since I know I am not the only newly raw person on a budget, I thought I'd share this... Since I exploaded my last blender in a tragic carrot-onion-ginger soup endeavor, I finally got a new one. I am a grad student on a somewhat tight budget, and I can't afford a blend-tec or vitamix for quite some time. I got a blender that really crushes ice -- like powders it, for only $80 (with sal

Sounds like you are describing a blender rather than a food processor. The VitaMix can do all of those things. I haven't got one *yet*. My food processor is great for blending dried fruit and wheatberries, though. It slices and dices like no other. It just is not ideal for making smoothies or nut butter. I have a 12-cup Kitchen Aid food processor, and I love it. I still need a good blender

Yay! I finally found a store with Kombucha! Yes, I have had the tea bag tea, but I've been looking for it in bottles for about 2 years now. I even emailed the folks at 2 years ago wondering if they'd ever ship it to this side of the US. (the answer was 'no and unlikely') I was just getting some groceries at the local coop ( ), and I found it by the milk refridgerator. I like it so much t

Leverett, Greenfield has a weird mix (old hippies), New Salem, Shutesbury. The last 2 are very small, and hardly even towns - but they are very very 'hippie' If you are in western Mass, you might travel up to Brattleboro Vermont - that is quite nice, and it would qualify as a 'hippie town' There is a raw restaurant in Beverly -- but that is on this side of the state (East) - and it is not at a

So, now raw and vegan, what do I do with my yogurt maker? I have a big yogourmet, and I made a lot of dairy yogurt in it a few years ago. I never successfully made almond milk yogurt (from homemade *or* store-bought milk) or soymilk. Does anyone put a yogurt maker to use in raw? It doesn't heat its contents past 112 F, as far as I know...
