Hi, My blended soups rate at about a 6/10 in flavor at best. I'm trying to get better at them. I use Avocado or nuts to add richness. Replacing water with V8 and a nut milk has also helped somewhat. Still there is much room to improve. The soup usually ends up bland with a slight hint of bitter. What are your go-to herbs and spices for adding flavor to raw soups? Thanks

Hi, I live in Thailand and brown rice costs less than half the price of rolled oats. I tried putting a few cups in my green smoothies to test what I read online, that uncooked rice would upset my stomach. I did not find it to be true, the smoothie was a little grainy but I actually thought the texture was improved because of it. Other articles have suggested that raw rice has problems with cel

I'm in Thailand and had constant trouble with low-end blenders in the $30 breaking down after a couple months, until I finally saved up for a 2500 baht ($70) 1.5 hp blender which has worked flawlessly for over a year now. My next investment will be in a juicer. Just wondering if juicers will have the same issue with the lower end units, or if they are inherently a more reliable design.

Hi, I'm moving to Thailand in couple days from now, and they use 220 V at 50 Hz. I figure this is a good time to replace my old blender. I'm looking for a good replacement that has a wide jar. I don't really need power that much, because the only things I blend are soft fruits and vegetables. anything close to 1 hp or above will be more than enough. My current blender constantly jam

Hi, I'm taking a trip to Thailand soon. I don't know what level of regulation other countries hold their food to; anyone know the level of pesticides in Thai produce and whether it's safe or not?

Hi, normally when I make a green smoothie I add a single leafy green, for example Kale up to the 20 ounce mark, and the next day 20 ounces of spinach instead. I'm wondering if it's healthier to add smaller portions of two or three leafy greens each day, rather doing than doing a single big bunch of one. Anyone know if there is a significant difference, or does it really not matter?

Hi, I tried the following recipe with poor results: 2 tomatoes, roughly chopped (about 2 cups) 1 cucumber, peeled and diced (about 1 cup) 1/2 lemon, juice of 2 cups lettuce 1 cup spinach 2 green onion 1/4 cup parsley 3 stalks of celery 1 small avocado 1 tablespoon paprika ^It also called for the following which I did not include (because I couldn't find it at the Food 4 Less)

The guy behind this new vegan food substitute hopes to bring all the essential nutrients into a single efficient meal: Unfortunately his reductionist mentality may come at a price. This is his response when I emailed him asking about phytonutrients: QuotePhytonutrients, aka plant metabolites or other intermediary chemicals used by plants for their own biological purposes are not essenti

Hi, are there any rules of thumb for how many nutrients are oxidized over time? I like to sip on my smoothies over a period of 1-2 hours so this would be useful to know.

Hi everyone, I'm not asking this to complain, just curious: usually when I wake up in the morning I have a bowl of black beans or oatmeal. But I've recently started replacing this with another green smoothie in the morning. The green smoothie has a leafy green like kale or spinach filled up to about the 25 ounce mark in my blender jar, and then to bananas, and orange, and an apple. I then add p

The milk tasted fine. I drank it today and the same issue happened which definitely means it is the culprit. I'm drinking rice milk because I thought it would be "ok" but I guess it is not... I just wish I knew why so I can figure out whether to even try the other types of milk.

Hi all; I'm naturally lactose intolerant, although I don't have an issue with yogurts. I bought some organic rice milk that specifically said it was lactose free. After drinking about 10 oz of it I felt the same feelings that I did with regular milk: having to go to the bathroom NOW. I did and my stool was watery, indicating the rice milk was the culprit. This has happened twice so far (yester

Well everything else in the diet is super clean & nutrient-packed, so really the bread and cheerios are there for when I need the extra energy. Is Quinoa or Buckwheat available in bread form? Convenience is key here

I forgot to mention! Some days I do feel a bit tired, in which case I eat a bowl of cheerios (dry) or a couple of peanut butter sandwiches. I do it so often now that really it is part of my diet 1,200 calories definitely isn't enough as I'm about 6'2" and 170 lbs.

Hi all, I finally decided to completely cut chicken out of my diet a couple months ago. I felt sadness combined with pride in doing what is right, but also increased concern about my diet. Feedback would be appreciated on it: Breakfast: 3 oz (dry) of either black beans or a 17 bean mix 3 oz (dry) of lentils. cooked and eaten without anything else (not so bad after a week) 2 oz of

I notice that I'm eating next to no sodium these days. I've never heard about RDAs on this side of the spectrum though. Can you eat too little sodium? If so, what should I stay above?

All these recent vitamin threads are concerning me because from what has been posted, it seems even many meat eaters are deficient of major vitamins. With my diet + not taking multi-vitamins I'm guessing I'm deficient in something as well, if not many things. I'm going to get tested for D and B12 on my next exam. What else would be wise to have checked? Thanks

I noticed that with my current focus on fruits and vegetables, I really don't eat grains anymore because I just don't have the room for it in my diet. Do you guys think that grains are necessary, or can they be skipped?
