I just placed an order on my first food processor. It will be a 14 cup unit with 3 nested bowls. Now i need ideas for what to do with it. I also have a Vitamix and a Green Star juicer, but i more or less know what to do with those - i am more looking for the Food Processor ideas. I was thinking to pick up some books by Ani Phyo. Any other ideas?

VM seem to be in the habit of mixing things up. When i asked them to send me a replacement lid for my Advance container ( it was getting blown off ) they sent me a lid for an XP container instead. On second try though they sent the right lid. Now i have 3 lids in total At least i didn't have to pay anything - i like that part.

The health scene in Cali is obviously great. Probably half of all gurus are from Cali. But if you want to grow your own produce year round Florida i think may be the better option because in Cali rain is scarce and winter is quite cool - but i am not an expert on gardening. If you like hot and humid with occasional tornado move to Florida. If you like dry, cool and sunny with occasional e

one more thing - get a direct drive FP. all blenders are direct drive. all robot coupe, magimix, cuisinart and kitchenaid FPs are direct drive too. but many cheap FPs are not. they use a transmission which can produce noise, vibration and is a possible point of failure. you can tell by the location of the motor. if the motor is directly under the blade then it is a direct drive unit. i

I am in the same boat as you coco. I have a vitamix and am looking for a FP right now. i actually wanted to start a thread about it myself ! What i gathered so far is that food processors were invented by a french company called Robot Coupe which still makes the best and most expensive ones - but they ar all professional models, no home models. the original food processor as it came to am

i buy a lot of frozen food but i never freeze anything that i haven't bought already frozen. freezing is great when the produce is frozen immediately after being picked and defrosted immediately before consumption. this way you lock in the freshness and don't lose any of it during lengthy transportation. in other words it makes sense to freeze stuff if you can't immediately consume it - ot

you know there is a lot of room in dosing certain substances. for example when taking steroids you can take a double dose and get extra results, then you can double it again and get extra results again, and again and again. of course you don't want to take any amount of steroids but the point is dose matters. with fat soluble vitamins of course you have to be careful, but as i said FDA t

when it comes to vitamin C i am using a pure powder ( 100% ascorbic acid, no fillers ) that i buy by the pound. i just take about 1/5th of a teaspoon and toss it in my smoothie - it improves the taste to boot. it works out to about 2,000% of vitamin C per smoothie.

for a synthetic multivitamin i would probably go with Solgar but i use GNC Mega Men myself because there was a GNC store close to me for a whole food supplement i use Vitamineral Green by Healthforce GNC and Solgar both use some questionable fillers so i would of course prefer to go the whole food way if possible. When i look at synthetic multivitamin however my main concern is how much v

i think the total cost of ownership for GSE and VERT are approximately equal considering that GSE has better yield in terms of volume, and especially in terms of nutrients. given that it becomes a question - are you willing to put in the extra effort in operating and cleaning the GSE versus VERT to get juice with less plastic in it? as John Kohler said you only get the health benefit of a j

most cheap juicers are centrifugal juicers. centrifugal juicers have low yield. overtime you will spend more money on produce with a low yield juicer. also centrifugal juicers can't process some of the healthiest foods like leafy grens and grasses. in terms of price: press > twin gear > single auger > centrifugal in terms of yield: press > twin gear > single auger &g

Vita-Prep 3 is a commercial machine and uses the same carafe and blades as the home model. the real distinction is not between home and commercial machines but between manual and automatic machines. manual machines ( no programmed operation ) use a 4 blade design and a tamper. automatic machines use a 2 blade design. this is true of both vitamix and blendtec - its just that blendtec doesn

Yogi Wrote: "why didn't he blend it all at once, rather than taking 3 operations?" he = me excellent question. if you mess up and the strawberries are too firm they may get compacted in the bottom of the carafe under the blade so the blade will spin freely on top of them. if you have experience it won't happen but i still like to have the option to get in there and fix it if i
