LOL, yes I did know it though I haven't tried them myself. I have had pretty good success with both brine and vinegar pickles. One thing my ole Ukranian papa taught me was to be sure to NEVER use anything but a clean fork to extract pickles from the jar, he said the introduction of other bacteria (on hands or implements, especially from the mouth) will ruin the crunch of any pickle almost right a

Aw, thanks Michele . I do like myself, it's hard to know a person for so many years and not develop some fondness for them, you know? I've gotten used to this face and body, it's been a fun ride so far . The only time I feel less than ok about myself is when I try looking thru another person's eyes. That's a no-no, it's meaningless and troublesome and just plain dumb. I've given up on that...

Sunflower greens are nice in juice. Buckwheat lettuce too but in small quantities, it's slimy and can really gum a juicer up (single auger or twin gear, doesn't work in centrifical juicers very well). Today I've had a pear, some green grapes, almonds and some herbal tea. I confess to coffee this morning. Our local shop is closing down so we've been going in the mornings to support her and say

You could try adding an oak leaf to the probiotic fermented pickles, that's a traditional ingredient to preserve crunch. Fermented cabbage & cauliflower don't give me much trouble. Then again, I can generally eat those things anyhow. It's food combining, grains, and a few other things that really get me.

Well, I went for a professional facial today to see if that would help any but no. While my skin is glowing and fresh, the pigmentation hasn't altered any at all. It's not a huge issue, just one of those small things that bugs me on occassion. I can live with it.

I use ferments to help manage digestive issues for myself so there's a big difference there. I sure wish I had good digestive fire but for whatever reason, no. I have to take greater than average care with what I eat, even small things can upset my system .

I have some issues with hyper pigmentation from my last pregnancy that never went away and get worse in the summer months despite a daily application of high end high spf sunscreen to the face. It's a pain in the toockas because it's BLOTCHY! I love being olive, I simply want to be the same olive all over, lol. Sunscreen. Proper gentle careful regular exfoliation (see a professional to get yo

I haven't got anything useful to contribute, I'm sorry. Just wanted to say that a friend with chronic fatigue was told recently that even though she got that diagnosis from the dr it is not considered a "real" illness. WTF is all I've got to say to that. What is wrong with those supposed health care practitioners?

Hmm, vinegar hinders digestion. I do better with brine ferments personally, I just rinse them off before eating or even soak in fresh water for a bit before hand. Same with salty olives, I really don't like a lot of salt. Or you can ferment stuff by adding in a little ferment juice from a previous batch, leave out on counter overnight. If you are eating dairy you can lacto-ferment by adding in so

I'm so late to this thread but am going to add that we collected dry leaves in the fall and kept them in an empty garbage can with a tight fitting lid to be layered in with the kitchen scraps, one or 2 cans lasted us the whole year. If we ran out I'd pick up a bale of straw, that takes a bit longer to decompost but adds some "loft" to the mix, makes it a bit easier to turn if you're doi

Wash in the washing machine on hot with natural soap (easy for me since I make my own ~ super cheap!) and dry as usual or hang to dry. I wash nearly everything in cold except the sheets which I do weekly or so, they can get tossed in with those. The only special instructions are to use no fabric softner or drier sheets. Again, easy for me as I wouldn't touch that stuff. Oh, and don't wash with li

Would speed up ferments too, if you're wanting to make coco-yogurt etc. My mom used to set it in the oven when gas ovens stayed warm inside all the time. The new ones don't do that anymore so you gotta find a way to keep a yogurt brew warm.

I am not great at that end of the process actually. I've only done a couple of craft shows and an exhibit at our local library. I don't have enough internet access to run an online shop right now either so you bet there's a pile up of finished products at our place right now ! 40 finished monsters and 30 more mid-process, a pile of sock monkeys, all those pocket wall hangings, 25 fabric bags, a b

A friend was over at my place when our orders arrived, she unpacked her stuff and cleaned all the floors with her new mop, lol. I didn't see her for over an hour, she was wandering around the house with a cloth looking for things to wipe. Seriously. My mom came by the next day and said "Wow, what did you do to the floor in here?". :/ I was kind of insulted because I wash that dang floor

That must be just for warming it up. I am more likely to warm things in an oven or on the stove to be honest. If it's just a little warming for a short period of time I don't mind doing it that way, takes only a few mins instead of an hour and setting up the D.

I like yoga but tai chi is also nice. So is swimming, biking, meditation, massage, etc. Plain ole vanilla sex is lovely but it's not the only way to derive pleasure. If a partner is not into something it becomes unsexy to attempt it with them in my experience but the flip side is that trying something formerly unknown or undesired simply because a partner is turned on by it makes it into somethin

Baby flax greens are really good. Chia too, I like them. The sprout house used to put flax in with the sunflower seeds sometimes, then you'd have a tray of sf and flax micro greens, soil grown. Very tasty.

Oh, and another product they sell is a mattress spray made of natural enzymes that apparently eats up dust mites, their p00p, and skin dander. Did you know your mattress and pillows double in wieght from all that in there in just a couple of years? No wonder I wake up sniffly! I bought that too, we'll see if it makes a difference.

... about natural cleaning products. I went to what amounts to a tuperware party at a friend's house but for cleaning stuff. I'm a convert. I tend to be pretty fussy about this, making a lot of my own things and buying expensive castile soap, etc. These cloths, mops, towels and such, Norwex is the company name, are hands down the best things I've ever used and they require only water. They're

I got the book! Nice cover, well written with some practical advice and a few good looking recipes. Unfortunately the focus is on losing weight which is not the direction for me as I'm already quite thin with a fairly fast metabolism. The daily menus would not meet my caloric needs at all. Many of the recipes call for ingredients I'm not fond of, agave, tamari type condiments, some dairy, out of

This might be why it takes us forever to fill a garbage can, ha! I see a potential use in nearly everything. If only I had to time to craft it all into other good stuff... The problem with this of course is that as soon as you start making quilts out of old clothes (we have 3 made from our old tshirts) or monsters from old felted sweaters (over 70 made in the past few months) or cloth shop

I can't think of much about sex that I don't like. Man, I am a fastidious person when it comes to personal cleanliness and am a bit much with the house keeping too at times, truth be told. But sex, well, ain't nothing gross about it in my mind. I like the term "tri-sexual" as in will try anything, lol .
