Hi there, Just wanted to add a tidbit... Are you getting enough salt in your diet? It's really important to have about 1/4 to 1/2 tsp salt per day. When our sodium is low, our bodies will often crave sweets, carbs, protein, etc. Consciously add a high quality salt (I use Himalayan sea salt) into your diet and see what happens. Low sodium levels in the blood can also contribute to feelings of sl

Hi, I'd like to know if there are any special considerations to be taken when making green smoothies for someone with type II diabetes, such as fruits to avoid, or no fruit at all. This person probably will continue her SAD diet, but is wanting to make some changes. I've suggested adding green smoothies at the very least, but want to make absolutely sure of any contraindications. Please give m

I would be wary of an all water fast. Consider a juice feast, maybe. Good site is globaljuicefeast.com. I felt really supported by that site when I was juice feasting. Blessings, Shawna www.gotgreensrevolution.com mydailyrind.com

Hi there, I just started a blog where I share about this raw journey and everything I eat in a day. There's recipes there too. I'd love it if you'd join me there. We can support each other. I've been exploring this lifestyle for 4 1/2 years. At first, I was so totally overwhelmed by all of the conflicting information that I actually gave it all up for a while. Then one day I had a simple but pro

Aw, man! Bryan, I just returned to Pennsylvania from a 2 1/2 week west coast road trip. I went right through your neck of the woods. I'll be back there for our annual trip next June. Which town/area are you in? It'd be fun to connect for a meal when we pass through next time. Peace, Shawna

Hi everyone! This is my first time logging onto the computer since I left for my road trip on June 4th. We flew from Philadelphia to San Jose, CA and traveled by car for 2 1/2 weeks northbound. We flew home from Portland, OR and arrived about 2am today (Friday). I had a lot of mixed feelings about staying raw while I traveled. There is no reason that I couldn't have. The reason I didn't was prima

"...some subconscious desire to halt my own progress in fear of the empowered person I may just become." Oh, Khale, you see inside my heart... It's like Marianne Williamson wrote which was later quoted by Martin Luther King Jr. about being afraid of our own light and shrinking so that others won't feel small, etc... Give thanks, I feel strong again and back on track of loving and

I want to second what someone wrote about Paul Nison. I met him recently and stayed up into the wee hours discussing nutrition according to the Bible with him. He's quite passionate and willing to personally assist anyone with support. So check out his site and contact him! I bought his book "Health According to the Scriptures". Buy it, read it, and pass it on to your mother in law.

Hello, I'm still here. I've really been struggling the past 3 days. It's interesting...I took a look and found a pattern. It seems that I sabotage myself every 2 weeks. I've been "going raw" since September and I've never been 100% past the 2 week marker. At 2 weeks, I feel awesome, my skin is clear, my mood is grounded and Alive, and my body looks tone and slimmer. Why is it then, that

Hi everyone, Choosing to be on this Raw Journey is no less than a MAJOR spiritual, emotional and physical feat. We are raised in a culture where suprressing our emotions, our lives, with food (one example) is so prevalent. We are very much out of touch with our spirits, our selves and each other, of course. When we begin to give our bodies the life force that is in whole living foods, we begin

Me again, I got confused and thought I posted twice. Anyway, I deleted a paragraph where I basically said be mindful of the length of time it takes to make this recipe. There's a lot of prep work, easy but time consuming. I started last Thursday and we had it Tuesday. The celery takes a few days to dry for the powder. Shawna

Hi everyone, You all really inspire me. I look forward to my little time on the computer after my son goes nigh-nigh so I can read all your posts and share what I ate. Someone asked about my son being raw... He has been vegan since birth. I started feeding him a mostly raw diet when he was about 9 months old. At home, he has been almost 100% raw for the past 9 months. When we go to relatives

Greetings Rawesome Folk, I'm feeling really great this fine Day 4. I even took on babysitting two small boys in addition to my little boy toddler. I had fun all day and never felt irritated or burnt. You don't know me, but that says a lot. Anyway, Khale, I take spirulina and chlorella in powder form and put it right in my blender with my smoothie. I heap a baby spoon with each of them.
