Tai What does buddha's hands taste like. I saw it at a store once but never got it. Does it taste like a lemon or an orange or both? Kumquats are interesting. It is like getting the tiniest miniature orange and biting into its skin and finding out it was a lemon!

Its fun making your own. Get organic raisins. Cut them in slices. Dehydrate them. Tastes pretty awesome. I forget which kind I used. I'd like to try the Concord grapes next time and I would have to deseed them before I slice them too.

Sproutman Thanks for the video! Also, could you say more about the sprouted green peas that are also in the vieo? What kind of peas are they? Do you painstakingly shell each one by hand? I wonder if they ever sell raw peas at any stores. Even when they say "raw", I just kind of assume they are cooked just like they say "raw" for nuts that are steamed. Ma

Prana <<I think it OK to start at 145 degrees, but once you feel your food's temperature is hitting 100 degrees, lower the dehydrator's temperature to a raw-safe temperature, say like 115.>> That's a good idea. Thanks.

Tai << I am not a fan of those. The one tempting thing I like is making a cheesecake pie out of blended young coconut meat sprinkled with cacao nibs and fresh cherries, but this kind of pie is not dehydrated, it is either frozen or put in the refrigerator>> This sounds delicious. I like the idea of having it in the fridge because it seems like cheesecake is a "chilly"

Tai That is interesting. I never thought to slice eggplants for bread. Do you dehydrate and marinate that too? Sounds kind of yummy. Maybe I'll put oregano on it so it can have a pizza flavor to it and marinate it in blended tomatoes and lemon or something like that. Yeah, I had a "quesadilla" in which coconut (pulverized and spread paper thin) was used as the tortilla. It was RE

Tai The dragon fruit that I got was pinkish red. It was the first time I had it. It was REALLY refreshing and delicious. It was such a bright fuschia color. It was awesome! I don't think I've ever eaten such a brightly colored fuschia fruit before in my life. I sliced it and just admired the color for a while on my plate before I ate it. I got it from an asian store.

Jtprindl and Tai Thanks for responding to my dehydrator questions. When I tried to respond on that same thread, the site would not allow me ( don't know why) so I had to post on a separate thread. Does anyone else get strange messages like " This computer has detected your thread to be spam." I don't know why a simple response about a dehydrator would be detected as spam. Some glitch

jtprindl Yeah. It is kind of paradoxical how phytic acid can have BOTH effects. I guess it is just a matter of each individual calibrating and observing for oneself what the effects are and adjusting accordingly. Thanks. Tai I may just try dehydrating the sprouted buckwheats like a cereal. The habanero tomato miso plus herb recipe you mentioned sounds delicious but the habanero is sup

Gabriel Cousens recommends dehydrating at 145 degrees to curtail time food is exposed to a humid ( thus predisposing it to mold) environment. Plus, he says that the ambient air cools down the temperature as well. He recommends that for the Excalibur. That being said, what are other peoples' take on the optimal temperature for dehydrating raw foods? I've not used my excalibur a lot ... just a f

raw practicalist I ate a dragon fruit. Just once. I have never had a mangosteen though at least not that I recall. I have had a durian. Pink peppercorn? I don't know... maybe it was in my food ( or not). Does that make me half way to heaven?

Hello Lisa fellow Kale-aholic! Cool Instagram pics! Reminds me... Persimmon and everything blue and purple is on my mind now thanks to looking at all the blueberry and purple foods with courgette noodles that you posted. I just ate a bag of persimmons about a week ago... but they were'nt mushy (which is my fave. I ate them like apples. They are still good though because they weren't in

<<I skimmed the article. I see her point. I am more interested in the topic of healing autism>> I think its a complicated issue, made more complex by the fact that some people with autism don't feel like they need to be "healed". Here is a thread on that : I'm no expert but I'm betting that regardless of ASD, trauma, or stress of any kind can play a role in exa

Tai That's neat that you tried these I'm thinking that if they are flattened like a patty then it would be easier to dry them out in the sun. Also, if they were thinner patty wise and maybe smaller volume wise then... why not? Put them out on a brick ( well, at least during the summer) and enjoy sun dried falafel patties

Here is an article on possible causes of black and white thinking including but not limited to autism (aspbergers), stress, anxiety, prone to being overwhelmed etc. I found this an interesting read. What do others think about this? To think in terms of grey could be challenging, at times. It means one has to navigate endless points of views and take action within a maze rather than just say

The question was : Is there life after 80? Well, check your pulse. If you have a pulse and you are past the age of 80 then there is indeed life after 80 and you are indeed in that realm called "Life". It's really that simple.
