ksmanthey, Here is the correct code (you need to remove the space after the [ character): [ IMG]http://i286.photobucket.com/albums/ll110/ksmanthey/eyes.jpg On your photobucket album page, there is a field called IMG Code. If you click in the text box after that field label, the correct [ img] code will be placed in your Copy/Paste buffer. You can then just Paste that into your forum

Hi Tammy, If you have a Macintosh, you can use iPhoto to crop your picture to just your face. On windows, you can use a program like Photoshop Elements or PaintShopPro to do this.

I've updated the original post to include better instructions for setting up your signature. Also, at the end of the post, I've included a link to a document where you can copy and paste the examples directly into your own posts. In these examples, you don't have to worry about removing the extra space that occurs in the examples after the "[" character. Also, when testing your posts

This was in "The Mucusless Diet Healing System". The main premise of that book is that certain foods are mucus forming and others are not. This muscus forming property was not based on raw verus cooked, but more along the lines of alkaline versus acid forming. According to Ehret, eating a cooked alkaline forming food is healthier than eating a raw acid forming food. Ehret states that

Here's the quote I remember: QuoteAt present among vegetarian health seekers "Raw food diet" is in fashion. No doubt it represent great progress, but the arguments are partly wrong, and leads to mistaken and fanatic extremes. They claim cooking destroys all food values .... Omega, please do not make me an authority. And while Ehret had a lot of great ideas, it would serve yo

Rab, It is possible to gain weight on the raw diet if you consume a lot of fat. The Standard American Diet is 40% fat, which is very high. 30% fat would be high fat, 20% would be moderate, and 10% or less would be low fat. So to keep the weight off, eat a lot of high nutrient low calorie foods. This means the non fatty fresh fruits and vegetables, especially greens. Many new raw foodists

Cacao is Spanish for cocoa. The raw cocoa has been recently renamed cacao. I suspect the powder is overpriced because people are willing to pay more for cacao, even if it is the same thing as cocoa.

For me denial doesn't really work. This is the main reason I still occasionally eat at raw food restaurants, when the rest of my diet is high fruit low fat. What I do after I indulge in the gourmet raw foods is to feel the pain of my indulgence. And that pain keeps me from needing to eat the gourmet stuff for a while. I make sure I love the uncomfortable feeling of the detox of the raw restaurant

Knowing about food combining is not the same as practicing food combining. If you know about it, but don't practice it, you will still have bad digestion. But if you practice it, in fact try mono eating for optimal digestion, you will have excellent digestion. All the digestive aids out there are crutches. If you use them, you depend on them forever. Its best to learn and practice food combini

It seems the one nutrient that is easy to get on cooked foods is calories - whether it comes from starch, fat, protein, etc. I agree with coco, that people eating SAD don't worry about nutrients and seem to rarely have issues with deficiencies. And in reality, their illness comes from over nutrition, not under nutrition. Yet on the raw diet, the automatic first response to not feeling well

When I soak and dehydrate my nuts, they seem to digest quite easily. But I prefer to eat my nuts untreated, and this keeps me from eating too much. At some point, when I eat nuts, if I eat them mono, they just quit tasting good to me.

It could be that you are intolerant of seeds because you are very sensitive. All seeds have some amount of toxin in them to discourage being eaten. When I eat seeds (and some nuts) I experience a bitterness that limits how much I want to eat them.

Its also worthwhile to look at the anti-zinc agents mentioned in greenpower's post. Phytic acids are found in grains, for those using grains in their raw diets. And sunshine79 mentioned earlier that raw cacao is a high source of copper.

Rufio, Are you eating an all raw diet right now? If not, what percent raw are you? What does your cooked diet look it? It sounds like you have an internal infection. If it were me, I would fast myself. But I can't recommend this for you, because I don't know your lifestyle, and I can't tell if fasting would serve you. But you can educate yourself on fasting, and see if this is something tha

The raw vegan diet is not for everyone. How do I know this? Well, over 6 billion people are not raw vegan, and probably less than 1/100th of 1 percent of world's population are raw vegan. And among the raw vegans, the 80-10-10ers are probably the smallest group. So if raw vegan diet is not for everyone, certainly Doug's program is even less so. This forum is here to support people on their

Pancakes were the one food I remember that when I would eat them, they would sit in my stomach like a brick. Given the food combining (starch, sugar, fat, protein) its no surprise that those pancakes took so long to digest. I remember at some point I figured out that if I left out the butter and the syrup, the pancakes would digest better for me.

Arnold Ehret didn't believe in or advocate a 100% raw food diet. So I am not sure one could say that what Graham proposes and what Ehret proposes are the same diet.

The thread with Marks response was deleted because it was an old thread with a lot of debate and contention, something I've been trying to eliminate from this forum. While the some of the info in that thread was useful, it is now dated and there are better places to get 80-10-10 support, like www.30bananasaday.com. My tolerance for judgment and criticism (including my own) is diminishing over tim

suncloud, Have you been 100% raw vegan the entire 23 years? Ever since I've known Mark, and I knew him when he was first trying out 80-10-10, he did his own "version" of the diet, which included lots of green juice. So this means he wasn't really doing Doug's diet, but his own. And myself, I've been 100% raw vegan now for over 8 years, and over 7 years have been high percentage

How do you feel after the boost if over? The best way to see if something is working for you is to feel all aspects of eating the food - how it feels as you eat it, and how you feel afterward. If you pay attention to how you feel, especially after you come down from the high, you can get in touch with whether cacao works for you or not.

The key to digestibility is ripeness. Any fruit that is perfectly ripe will be quite digestible. Also, it helps if you only eat one kind of fruit at a time.
