I think the idea is great for furthering one's energy, sustenance, feeling out how one would feel eating something all day...one might add other "tests", like how would I feel eating this in an emergency moment (if I could only eat this one thing before running a huge distance), how would I feel eating this one thing for inspiration as if I were looking for a psychedelic inspirational t

from my "daily inspiration" "subscription" from jinjee and gang-ish :~) Adrienne More ways to eat organic cheaper: -buy the organic produce in the store that is at or under $1 or $2 a lb. -make friends with organic farmers and buy their seconds (often the best tasting produce but not good enough looking to sell at stores) -become an organic farmer -learn how to do

Horsea~ well, my situation is I left my life in Hawaii unexpectedly, I hardly know anyone here and have hardly had time to phone anyone, and we live an hour away from town and the people I do know here. Once I move into town in a week, which is the plan, I'll be closer to potential mumma friends and such, but I'll also be on my own and in the city, and whatnot. I'd love to hear more about

HIya Horsea, Raw Daddy :~) (and all you mysterious people outt here) My baby (who's seven months old) is exploring laughter lately, laughing "like a fool" in most situations. It's hysterical, contagious, and so beautiful!!!! I was thinking earlier that laughter is a great thing to do, we're encouraged not to do it too much so as not to make other people feel uncomfortable, but it

Horsea (by the way, do you love horses and the sea?) I am not speaking so much from the present as a single mom (live with my parents in eastern Canada and am hopefully moving out in a week with the help of "assistance" (and yes, I intend to continue being a full-time mom and finding ways to support us without having to put him in someone else's care) but of my experience post-birthin

I love this discussion!...hugely interesting, central I think the solution can only be found in our hearts and in our imaginations, not in our information-gathering minds, no way! The best way to enter into our hearts, is it to feel "satisfied" from some bread after a salad or from leaping into the state of self-denial and prayer that it might take to be comfortable with eating

Enjoying this series of posts...haven't read the article yet. What strikes me the most is that it possible is true that we have come so far from the natural world that existed--and provided--quite a while ago that we can in fact not really go back to natural existence as it was then. It makes sense, in fact, as without so within, sure we can find ourselves in natural surroundings, camp out in

I subscribed to the "daily raw inspiration" at thegardendiet.com and got this today: Would you like to launch a Guerrilla Advertising Campaign on your family? Did you know that seeing an appealing image of food more than three times makes most people crave that food? And if you look closely you'll see that most cooked food and junk food advertisements use water droplets throughout

Hi Maureen~~ yay, welcome!! I'm a new mom (7 month-old babe) and have been eating raw off and on for 4 or 5 years and am going raw again (easier said than done sometimes but it's most definitely worth it) and the more raw food I've eaten, the more energy and peace of mind I've had. I feel like I'm coming alive again! It seems hard to beat depression, but raw food munchin' is actually a huge

Wow, thanks everyone. I was happy to discover in that the local health food store now has raw crackers and cookies for the first time ever (albeit very expensive), so that's a plus... The stress of being a new (and single) mom unexpectedly living with parents in remote area has a lot to do with it, though circumstances don't really matter in a way... Trouble started rumbling when I overa

Thanks Michele, yeah, my goal today is to avoid sugar and weird stuff (I live with my parents who have a lot of junk foods around) Dovelin's 7 months old now, but I think it would bother anyone (myself included) to go from all raw vegan to a bunch of cooked stuff including some sugar and artificial stuff... I've tried in the past (before babe) to go the moderation route but it doesn't se

My baby says I need to go all raw, (or else he doesn't feel well) well maybe not necessarily ALL raw, but very small exceptions. I've been pretty raw the last couple months but when tried to go ALL raw wound up bingeing in the other direction twice, after a week raw each time. It's so scary when I do that, he cries and cries for his belly ache or something. Why is it so hard? What can I do s

I recently read some good answers to my question of how and when to take stuff (breastfeeding and wanting to take certain things) in Cousens' *Conscious Eating*--he notes that some minerals things get in the way of each other, particularly calcium which should be taken before bedtime, and iron which should be taken a half hour before the evening meal. ("should"...may be best) Other su

I s'pose...;~) I wonder if, once eating all raw vegan, they would stick to their beliefs or eventually change... I've just been reading Cousens' *Conscious Eating* in which there's a chapter about Jesus being a vegetarian (and raw vegan, in fact). Now I'm not Christian (though I was raised Catholic), but it warms me to read these quotes (from scriptures and things not found in the common bib

I was just looking up raw food stuff and one of the first hits was a "white nationalist" group (discussing raw foods). I looked inside, apparently there's lots n lots of members (from polls) Shocking that the number of racists should outnumber raw fooders...though I may be surprised, how many raw fooders there are now...this website has certainly grown, and there are probably more raw

Thanks guys~~ Babe's getting over the chicken pox. Unfortunately (or maybe not, according to Rumi hee hee) I "fell off the wagon" today on "day 7" and babe's enjoying (er not) the ramifications--sour stomach! Waah. I do NOT miss the days of him crying his head off over how he feels in his belly. It's a surefire reminder of how important this is... I felt stressed o

A handful of years ago, I got "sick" camping in the woods at a gathering, detoxed now I think in a crisis, after binge-eating and being an emotional wreck..."Coincidentally", I had found on the ground the day before a book on raw food and fasting. I read it that week while I couldn't eat and had stuff flying out of both ends, and truly believed it and what it would mean: that

Oy yoy, I'm on day 4 of all-raw (not my first time going raw by a long shot, but the first time in awhile like a year) and I feel crummy. my muscles all ache, etc.. Is it withdrawal I wonder, like when quitting smoking... I really want to get my immune system and my energy up. My baby's almost 7 months old, I recently had the shingles (chicken pox virus hides in nerves and comes out when you

Right now I'm reading parts of Gabriel Cousens' *Conscious Eating*, where he notes that there are trace toxins in certain ffods that if you eat a LOT of can get to you, and there are some in sprouts and sprouted legumes in particular...I'll look up the specifics when I get a chance...I would go with how you feel, if you're craving it, or look elsewhere if you could base your diet differently...
