A soup even my non-raw boyfriend liked: Bell Pepper Soup 2 young Thai coconuts 2 red bell peppers 2 dates juice of 1/2 lemon a little piece of a hot pepper (chilli) salt pepper coconut oil (optional) garlic (optional) Blend everything except for the coconut water. Add the coconut water (and if that is not enough some "normal" water) until you reach the desired consitenc

BTW - do you know rejuvelac? It is kind of fermented water that is full of useful bacteria for a healthy stomach. You need: 2 cups of wheat or spelt some lemon juice water Directions: rinse wheat / spelt. Put in bowl. Cover with 4 cups water. Add some lemon juice, about 1 tablespoon. Cover with a cloth. Let it sit for 2 days. After 2 days, you can drink the water. It tastes a bit

I heard that psyllium husks help not onlyagainst diarrhea but also against inflammations in the stomach. Maybe taking an alkaline bath in the tub (with alkaline bath salt or soda / natron) would help, too. Get well soon! Helen

As to myself, I got cold easily before I had started eating raw, but now, with raw food, it has not gotten better, but sometimes worse. If I eat fruit in winter, I start really freezing right away. On the other hand, when I eat fats, e.g. raw tahini, and salt, it helps not to freeze so much. In Germany, many raw foodists say you should not eat too many fruits in winter, but combine starchy

I bought the jack fruit in a supermarket in Brick Lane, I did not go to the veg and fruit market there. But on Sundays there is Spitalfield Markets near Brick Lane, and there is a stall from Rainforest Creations with lots of great raw food, you get it in a box to go. They have juices, falafel, different salades, dips, cakes, cookies and lots more.

I think almost any fruit would work, but I think bananas resemble the real tiramisu cookies best, and in addition, I am a real "banana+chocolate" lover!!!

I love London because of the great raw food variety. In London there are great raw food restaurants: www.safrestaurant.co.uk (not been there) www.villagewholefoods.co.uk (my favourite!!!) www.vitaorganic.co.uk www.inspiralled.net (with live music in the evening) www.rainforestcreations.co.uk (a really great market stall at different markets at different times) and Tony's H

Dear all, it turned out my boyfriend is allergic to histamine, so he cannot eat things that contain histamine or that "promote" histamine. Well, I have difficulties explaining that in detail in English. Anyways, I am looking for a dessert / cake recipes that does NOT contain the following items: cocoa nuts dates raisins bananas dried plums avocados pears pineapple b

Thank you guys, I will try both your suggestions. I can imagine that dipping a banana into tahini will taste great, too, just like it did it with peanut butter before. Cheers Helen

I purchased raw tahini and hempini from detoxyourwolrd (Great Britain) because you don't get such things in Germany. I spend a lot of money. Now I did not dare opening the jars and just use them up for whatever, it is just to rare and valuable for me ... can someone understand this? So, what is the best way to eat or use hempini and tahini, which food combinations with those ingredients are de

Hi Molli, sure, coconut flakes would work. The cream is creamiest if you only use young coconut meat and soaked and blended cashews (no ripe brown coconut), but with coconut flakes and cashews it will be okay, too - at least worth a try!

Now that I learned how to upload pictures here, this is one of a raw dinner I had at a (raw) friend's house a couple of weeks ago. It includes (from left to right) dates, salad with tomatoes, cashew-basil dip with Italian bread from Keimling (www.keimling.de), some dried fruits like mangoes etc., pecan and cashew nuts, raw tiramusu (I posted the recipe in the recipe forum), cucumber, raw to

A couple of weeks ago I made a raw tiramisu for a raw potluck and this turned out to be the most wanted from the buffett. So here is the recipe and I will try to upload a picture: You need: bananas lemon juice cocoa powder carob powder (you can use only cocoa powder or only carob powder or both, I use both because carob is a little sweeter) coconut oil agave nectar cashew nuts (soaked)

Thank you for the information about Amsterdam. I will keep it in mind, I will definitely visit this great city sometime. Here in Hamburg there are no raw food bars or restaurants, but a new vegetarian restaurant has just opened which serves some vegan and raw food. In addition, there are some places where you can get fresh juices. If you come to Hamburg, please let me know. I can show you a

I stay hungry if I only eat fruit because firstly, fruits are digested in 30 minutes, and secondly, they make the blood sugar rise quickly and then drop sharply --> hungry again. A lot of raw foodist in Germany (including me) eat fruit only together with green leaves. That makes you really full, you get additional vitamins & minerals etc. from the greens, and the blodd sugar rises more

Thank you for your advice. Just wanted to tell you: I soaked the almonds over night in water that had room temperature and this morning I could scrape the peel off. It is some work, but I am just glad that I do not have to use boiling water.

Urgent: for a recipe I need almonds without skin. My mother skins almonds by putting them into boiling water. Of course I don't want to boil them, so I wonder if I can take off the skin if I just soaked them in cold or warm water. It would be great if you could share your experience! Thanx in advance. Helen

What I like about carrots: 1. They are cheap veggies. Especially in Germany in winter. 2. You can combine them with almost everything. You can make traditional hearty raw meals from them, light asian / exotic raw meals, but also suw them in sweet stuff like halva, cake, muesli, apple-carrot salade. Unfortunately, I am still pale despite eating a lot of carrots ;-) Helen

My ideas: - some seeds require darkness for sprouting, so I do them in a sprout-maker made from pottery's clay, looking like this: - the advantage is, that it does not stay so humid inside, but the disadvantage is that the clay can fungal/mouldy, too. - i rinse my sprouts twice a day - sprouts from which I eat the green parts only (like cress, for instance), I grow on a tissue / n

I usually order direct, there are German mail-order companies that only sell directly to customers like www.orkos.com www.keimling.de (Keimling's site is available in English, also) Often I order with a friend and we share the postage costs. Sometimes I also order at a wholesale company together with friends, but they only have nuts, seeds and dried fruits, no exotic fresh fruits. By

Thank you, Jennifer and Rawdanceruk. However, at royalhimalayan, I pay 24$ shipping to Germany. Rawliving.uk takes "only" 6 GBP. Maybe I'll try and order some at rawliving. Rawdanceruk, what other methods do you use to firm cakes etc. up? When I use coconut butter, that does not work, it just does not get firm enough. And I do not want to freeze the cakes, just put them into the

Meanwhile there are myn raw cake recipes including Irish moss. Where can you buy this? I am from Germany, and all the German raw food companies that sell via the internet do not carry Irish moss. Looking at Ebay, I also only found seeds for the Irish moss plant. But I read that Irish moss that is used for raw cake consists of white flakes of this plant. I would be glad if someone has an idea w
