Thanks, Coco! Sorry for delay in responding; I started a new great job (permanent, finally!!), and have done a lot of unpaid overtime so far <g>. I'll have to give this a try. It'll take some time, but if I come up with a "recipe", I'll post back. Cheers.

Hi, there! Was wondering if anyone has bought the sprouting/growing trays from Hippocrates Health Institute. Also, there were plans one could get (buy?) for the PVC shelving one could built. I'm very curious about the success of growing with their system indoors. The trays have very little "bottom", if I can call it that. Basically, rather than a tray, the bottom of their square t

Hi, everyone! I haven't posted in a long time! <g> I was wondering about something ... I've not had any luck drying red peppers and was wondering if there was a trick to it. They haven't seemed to dry up like tomatoes do. Has anyone been successful with this? Thanks!

Anyone who lives in Canada knows how very costly buying books directly from the US can be ... even when there's currency parity (which there isn't right now), by the time you convert the price of the book _and_ shipping and handling, it becomes prohibitively expensive! To give the example of my first and _only_ time I ever bought a book this way about 10 years ago, the ~US$14.00 book cost me ~Cdn

The blueberry jello, is that it re the ingredients? You just blend up blueberries, put them in moulds and then into fridge and that's it? Wow, that sounds right up my alley. But how to transport them by bus to the potluck? I'm not sure I have enough small moulds. Does anyone have any suggestions re the moulds and transporting?

What did you take to your last potluck that was very easy to make in quantity yet didn't cost a lot of money? I'd like to find 2 such recipes, if possible. Just curious what others have made. Thanks!

Hi! This isn't exactly a response to your question re "nori" wraps, but it is about wraps in general. In case you or anyone didn't know a fantastic forum, here is a spot that has a whole section of wraps: I only just discovered this forum within last couple of months and now go there a lot! It has a general recipe section and then one broken down by types. The one above is the

I meant to respond a long time ago but time got away from me and then I forgot. Sorry! All great ideas. The almond butter is impractical as I find it too expensive but I will definitely keep it in mind, esp. making it at home from scratch somehow. Neat idea re the dried onion flakes, etc. That's given me an idea to try. Thanks! Cheers. D

I don't have mushrooms, coconut milk or meat ... I made my lunch a little earlier then when I went to the fridge for the bag of mushrooms I thought I still had, I came up empty. Anyone have any ideas for a gravy-like recipe that doesn't have either shrooms or anything coconut yet this creamy and dark in colour? I can't think of a thing and I've searched 3 raw forums so far. Everything seems

I've seen the rise in cost already. My grocery bills have been higher in last few months! Good thing that I'm now 100% raw because it would be a heck of a lot worse! Another fact that's been in my head since I began this journey nearly 20 years ago is that the resources to provide 1 head of cattle could support 7 people - I wonder if we're talking non-vegetarian, which is what I suspect that

I bought broccoli yesterday so I will probably try to make this today. RawGuru's recipe from that page above is this: ***************************************** Blue Cheese I'd say it makes arround 4 cups, its enough so I don't think you can eat it all at one time This was mostly an experiment on what to do with the broccoli stems. It came out wonderful so I thought I’d share it

Does anyone have a recipe to make raw tahini? I know it should be fairly simple but nothing I've made quite tastes like what comes out of a raw tahini jar. Thanks!

Very well done! I'm very impressed. Though I gave up meat cold-turkey and never felt a thing 17 years ago, the rest of the journey has not been as smooth. I've only actually been successful in last few short months. With my digestive problems, etc., I never seemed to find balance. But one small thing has done the trick that I'd like to share: GREEN!! I find that the only days I really do w

Great ideas, thanks! I went to get weighed this afternoon and was very encouraged. Being hypo-thyroid, it's been very, very difficult to lose weight these last few years. Dr. Young's books have helped me in last couple of months make that last step towards raw. Last weekend I saw that the previous week I lost 9/10ths of a pound and that seemed the best I could do. But today I see that th

Oops, forgot to add, I'm not too terribly fond of the rolled oats, etc., idea so I've never addded those. One day when money is better, I plan to buy the sprouted oats, for example, and make my own (I bought a rolling machine ages ago just for this purpose but then that job finished and the great pay has not been the same since <g>. Anyway, hoping for seed and nut, etc., ideas. Thanks.

I'm calling this a muesli because I'm not sure what else to call this <g>. This has really helped me. Since I started eating this a week ago, I've felt it was the last thing missing in my day. I could eat other stuff but this is easy. I've not had success with dehydrated foods much because after a couple of hours until the food is rock dry, fermentation always sets in and I just happe

Yes, that's what I use, parchment paper. I've always been afraid of more plastic in the dehydrator than need be esp. what touches the food. I didn't know about the metal sausage maker before getting the Excalibur but, believe me, when I can afford to, I'll be getting that one to replace the Excalibur. I really do not trust plastic! <g>

Actually, if Dr. Young is to be believed, any form of corn is _not_ acceptable (mushrooms, too). I'll have to get the lines and post them here on what he says re these two foods but they do contain a toxin. Me? My approach would be to rarely eat them but to not cut them out of my diet competely, esp. after achieving balance and health. I just would never make them a daily or even weekly par

I just stumbled upon this book a few weeks ago at the library so it's neat that it turned up today right at the top of my search results for something else! <g> Me, too, I was amazed that after 16 years, this information has come out re fruit. I began my raw food path via "Fit for Life" which totally advocated fruit in the mornings, etc., as way of life. (Then again, Harvey

I don't have my recipe here with me, but you can use lemon juice instead of vinegar. In fact, the whole idea of raw food is to get rid of the acids in our diet, so I have always liked the idea of lemon juice better <g>. The recipe would have been in the archives but since the crash it's not going to be here any longer but in essence, cut up the potato into the lemon juice (i.e., put lem
