A raw restaurant in Paris is going to do something "cru"cial on that day, haha! (cru = raw in French) But there are many more events all over the world on that day ... I am overwhelmed of the number of countries in which there are people that eat raw.

I experienced to be full when I once had a juice made of carrots, apples, pineapple and lemon. But on other juices I feel hungry afterwards. Now I am thinking about doing a juice fast, and that is why I would like to ask you which juices you recommend that make you really full and satisfied. Thank you very much in advance for your suggestions. Helen

At a Turkish store in my town they have dates on sale. I bought 1-2 kilos because I use them for making cakes. Can I freeze them and thaw them just in time when I make a cake? Or are they not tasty anymore, when they have been frozen? Who has tried this and can share their experience? Thank you for your answers. Helen

There is a new German-English website that lists major raw events in Germany. It is updated very regularly. www.germanygoesraw.de

I find this question very interesting. Maybe because I work with socio-economic data a lot. I am in economic research and do my PhD. I guess I kind of stick out of this group here. Helen

I eat soaked and sprouted grains: wheat, spelt, rye,... I do not share the opinion that raw grains are bad for you. If you look at nutrition tables, Nutrition tables reveal that they also have a lot of vitamins and minerals, like iron, magnesium, zink, vitamins B1, B2, C, E, and a lot of others especially when they are sprouted.

I have 2 suggestions: 1. Go to the doctor and find out if you have some mineral or vitamin deficiency. When your body craves, it sometimes means it is in need of a nutrient. Then you can take supplements or foods that contain these vitamins or minerals. 2. Eat the non-raw stuff you crave, but only ONE SMALL meal, and prefereably in the morning / at lunch. When I stick to these 2 rules, I ca

Loewe, I do not know if I understand your question correctly. What I would think about Germans and vitamin D is that the "normal" German does not really care about vitamins and therefore does not know whether they could have a deficiency and therefore do not take supplements. Raw foodist, or people that care about there vitamin intake: Some insist that they get enough of all nu

I have posted before that in German raw food forums many say that most people living north of Rome have vitamin D deficieny, but people wrote against it. So I think in winter, when only the face is directly exposed to sun light (if there is sun at all!), vitamin D supplement is a good thing. I do not take supplements in winter, I find this not natural, so I eat things that contain vitamin D, b

I am having a major bread craving, too, these days. In Germany, there is such a variety of rolls, croissants, prezels,... As they are so soft, making raw crackers would not help against it. Maybe the suggestion to eat raw tahini would help. BTW, what are buckwheat groats? Is it just buckwheat, or buckwheat soaked and sprouted, or dehydrated? But be honest, if you crave bread really ba

That is funny. In Germany, you can only buy unhulled hemp seeds, but you are not allowed to plant them. As far as I know, there is only one German provider on the internet where you can buy hulled hemp seeds since a few months. Before, I would have had to order them in UK or US, if I wanted one. I have not tried the hulled ones, I mostly use the unhulled ones.

Some raw foodists use shelled hemp seeds. What is the use of it? Aren't not-shelled hemp seeds more healthy? Like you should also eat apples with the peel because most nutrients are directly underneath it. Helen

In Germany, most supermarkets, those that are part of a chain, are not ALLOWED to give such things away, they HAVE TO throw them away!!! I asked at a supermarket, and they told me, they are not allowed. What a waste. But in the German city I lived in before, I sometimes asked at a small Turkish store if I could take the too ripe kakis, which they wnated to throw away, and I got them. In Ger

Dear all, I cannot wait until Christmas and my birthday a few days later, because I will purchase my first juicer and I am really excited. But I do not know yet if I should buy the Green Star Elite, or if the old one (in Germany, its called Green Star 1000 or 3000) would do it, because the Elite is still much more expensive. Is GS Elite really bette, more easy to handle, same stability,

Hi Lizard, did you exchange the fat for something? Do you maybe now eat avocado and nuts, but cut down something else? I think you better gain weight if you combine fats + carbohydrates. So try mashed banana+avocado, or dried fruits + nuts. Maybe this will help?

I know this apple pie, it is reeaaally good. Isn't that apple pie from Any Phyo? A friend of mine made a cake like that, and it was from her book ... or another raw food book. But in that recipe there was a teaspoon salt in the crust, which makes it even more delicious, in my opinion.

I'd say, in between. I eat not too much fat on an ordinary day, just salad dressings with oil or nuts, and I eat sesame and flax seeds very often. (Except for now where I do 3 weeks only greens+fruits+veggies) But I like to prepare fancy raw food for special occations, and then they can contain lots of fat.

I heard that almost everyone living north of Rome has some vitamin d deficiency. I am thinking of supplementing in the winter, because vitamin d is also important for losing weight. But I read that too much of this vitamin is harmful, too.

Thank you all! @ EZ rider: yes, it is logic to eat raw food. But my dad thinks,I do not eat cooked food because I feel guilty then. He thinks everyone wants to eat stuff like chocolate icecream. But as to me, I just DO NOT WANT to eat this because it is not healthy. I hope he gets that when I explain it. @Trive Percentage: they know I am not all raw. But maybe I can tell them I am almost r

I would like to pick two books out of these for my Christmas wish list. Which ones would you recommend? 1. Susan Schenk and Victoria Bidwell: The live food factor: The comprehensive guide to the ultimate diet for body, mind, spirit and planet. 2. Ani Phyo: Ani's raw food desserts 3. M. Kenney: Entertaining in the raw 4. Ruthann Russo: The rawfood lifestyle. The Philosophy and Nutritio

I am also afraid of Christmas with my family. In particular, there are 3 problems: 1. I am not 100%, but I try to be at least 95%. So they will say, if I am not a "real" raw foodist, why the ... do I have to eat 95-100% raw in the 3 days of the year we meet. 2. My dad is a psychologist and works with people that have eating disorders. So he will get afraid that I have an eating di

I also think the people are jealous if they see someone loosing weight. So, try to not care about their bad talks, just show them how good you feel and enjoy life. I am really proud for you and I admire you that you are so strong and you loose weight to get your ideal weight and health. So do not hesitate to follow the raw path. At my work, eating fruits plus greens together, I do only when I

Hey I have the same question. I am going to Japan for an internship in 2011 for 2 months. How long are you staying there, Ilovejen? At first, I planned to go next February / March, than we could have met each other! But maybe you will be there 2011, too? Helen

Thank you all for your suggestions. About my usual intake: On a "good" working day I eat fruits and greens in the morning or a "porridge" made from ground spelt, dates, 1 banana, cinnamon. At lunch I have a mixed salad in the canteen without dressing + a banana, in the evening I eat a mixed salad at home with olive oil or, if I will do sports afterwards, I eat a banana with

... makes you sweat and snore at night ... makes you unhappy ... is "normal" for alll people around me - and I am the one that is odd! ... contributes to trash and garbage more than raw food which is organic waste ... contributes to the hunger and thirst in the world because so much land and grains are used for meat production

Hey, I desperately want to loose the 5 kilos (about 10 lbs.) that I put on during the last 2 years, and I also need to improve my skin which is not so nice at the moment (which is partly at least due to hormon fluctuations). RIght now I eat about 80-90 % raw but even if I am close to 100 % I do not loose weight. So do you think that 3 weeks just fruits, greens and veggies would be useful? I
