I too had a similar reaction at first and was holding weight-- I didn't actually gain but I wasn't losing any weight either. Here are the things that I've found helpful in the 2+ months I've been high raw: try to drink at least half your body weight in ounces of water (i.e., 189lbs= 90 oz of water daily). Emphasize GREENS (like others are saying on here)-- I can't tell you how helpful this has

I posted in a recent message that the weight is beginning to come off now. For me, a 100% raw diet doesn't feel right, at least not at this time. I've made a lot of improvements to my diet, but it isn't perfect. I've read and heard so much different advice from varying sources that I'm really now doing what feels right for me, my body-- it's like a favorite yoga teacher of mine says, only you

I have a hard time with raw almonds, pecans and other nuts... yet nut milk (and more occasionally, nut butter) have become staples. I'm sure there's a reason for this-- I think I read that plain old nuts are hard to digest. I almost get an overly full feeling when I eat them, whereas I can eat or drink a lot of veggies and get a satisfied feeling rather than a bloated one.. interesting... G

Hi all, Well I don't want to jinx it, but I finally seem to have stumbled on a good combination of foods to lose a little (noticeable) amount of weight. As I posted here before, I have about 20lbs to lose and had begun a 50-80% raw diet for a month, but wasn't losing any weight, I mean not one ounce! I went to a naturopath/acupuncturist who told me a 100% raw diet is not ideal for my body

I've been reading Natalia Rose's Detox 4 Women and it has a program in which you let go of fruit completely while focusing on greens, then slowly reintroduce fruit back into the diet. So maybe once it has been cleansed out of our bodies, it can come back in with more benefits. Just a thought...trying a break from it and then eating it again, maybe logging how you feel energy/emotion-wise after

Hi Jeni, I'm a special ed teacher. Like you, I'm now considering a job in the nutrition/holistic healing field since discovering raw foods. I'd also like to include physical activity in my job (yoga instructor would be great, although I"m not proficient enough at yoga yet to do the teacher training-- anyway, I give you props for your yoga instruction!)... I'd love to hear updates on your j

Thanks for all the encouraging advice guys. My first reaction to not losing weight after a month (because this is how my brain works) is, why not just go back to my regular (SAD) diet? This isn't working anyway, etc. Ok, so I know that's what I want to do, but have experienced too many cool things in going raw (like clearer thinking and more energy) to not see it through. It could be that,

Hi everyone, Hoping some of the more experienced raw foodies on here can give me some advice... or anyone who is losing weight by eating raw. I've been eating 50-80% raw for a month now, have let go of pork/chicken/beef (never was a big pork or beef eater), do still occasionally have fish. I admit in the first three weeks or so, I ate a lot of fruit and that's probably why I didn't lose weight

Hi, everyone-- thanks for the warm welcome! Trive-- yes, it sounds like exercise does really help.... good for you that you're exercising an hour a day! That's inspiring Loeve-- it's funny, the thing that stands out to me that Woody said was that he gave up dairy when he realized it was causing his sinus and allergy issues... but I know he said a whole lot of other good stuff. Hi everyone! I'm so excited to find this support group. I'm about 2 weeks new to raw food. Heard about it through the grapevine for years-- as far back as 2001 when Woody Harrelson came to our college campus to talk about how much healthier he was since going raw. What really motivated the change recently for me to go to raw foods: I started practicing yoga again and saw a copy of Raw Food De
