I have problems donating blood. I love to do it to help people. However my blood pressure tends to run slightly low, about 108/70. My pulse runs about 68. And my hematacrit is a little on the low side, but not below normal. I'm not close to the minimal weight to donate. Even when I ate red meat a few days before donating and drinking plenty of fluids, I would still have a relatively low hematacri

Hey lyz65, I also am in transition. I have always consumed a lot of sugar. I'm no expert and I haven't figured out the right combination either. But so far what is helping is eating a lot of sweet fruits and eating avocados, nuts and green leafy vegetables. I try to stay full otherwise I eat other things. And have dried fruit and nuts handy. My blood sugar tends to run a slightly high, but no hi

johndel1- I live in the Seattle area, John. Just north of Seattle is the city of Kenmore and has the supposedly number 1 naturalpathic school in the country. www.bastyr.edu However, many people outside of naturalpathy don't find a graduate from Bastyr to be genuinely knowledgeable. They don't trust naturalpathics. The University of Washington also has a nutrition program. Naturalpathy is big

Sorry, one more thing... So many different experts... Vitamin B12 is excreted in the bile and is effectively reabsorbed. This is known as enterohepatic circulation. The amount of B12 excreted in the bile can vary from 1 to 10ug (micrograms) a day. People on diets low in B12, including vegans and some vegetarians, may be obtaining more B12 from reabsorption than from dietary sources. Reabs

Research on compost is a growing field. Scientists are taking a closer look into different combinations and amounts of certain plant and animal waste to create different kinds of composts for different plants. Normally when we have our own composts, we just throw any peels, rinds, or cores into it. Nothing is wrong with that in the least. However, if you wanted to take your gardening further, you

I am in no way trying to steal your thunder Fruitarian One, but I just wanted to add to la_veronique's question about back strengthening. If you strengthen your abdominal muscles it will help support and strengthen your back, and vice versa.

This is just a wild guess. Your panic attacks may just be related to the hard mental switch from vegan to raw vegan and may not be from the diet itself. Or perhaps you are getting panic attacks from the prolapse itself because of oxygen insufficiency. Keep your body in shape by exercising- carefully. And if you miss a day, do deep breathing exercise to increase your tidal volume capacity in your

Excuse my naivety. How are raw wheats and other flours bad for the digestive system (excluding gluten allergies and opioid effects)?

One more thing. Yes there is not very much research on raw kids. However, there is plenty of dietary research on children. Maybe a good start would be to find the daily recommendations for calories, carbohydrates, protein, and fat for pediatrics. Also for all your vitamins and minerals. A monumental task I'm sure. Or perhaps look at a few sample diets for healthy eating for kids and then make th

I would suggest that you consult with a naturalpathic dietician. If possible talk with someone who has been educated and trained in naturalpathy and modern medicine. I have read that children (NOT adults) need to eat 90 calories per kilogram a day. So if you have a 10 kg kid (22 pounds) they would eat 900 calories a day. Do confirm that information. Also children need more fat in their diet than

Thank you! This was exactly what I was looking for on Vit B12 deficiency. Also, does anyone know anything refutable on the argument that lycopenes and carotenoids are better digested when cooked?

Hello I'm new. I've read that vegans are at risk for Vitamin B12 deficiency and the only plant source I've found is algea. Does anyone know any of the latest research on Vitamin B12? Is it possible that our bodies can synthesize it with other nutrients that we eat? I've also read that lycopenes and carotenoids are better absorbed in the body if they are cooked. Any thoughts?
