Hi! I will be moving to the Boston area for school soon and I would love to find a place with a raw roomate! I am 20, a girl, really laid back and fun, and, well, a raw foodist! if there is anybody (around my age please, but gender doesnt matter) who is looking for a raw roomate in Boston, let me know!

Could you go on a less intense anti-depressant than lithium? Maybe tell your doctor you want something short-term (like no more than a year, say). There are so many anti-depressants out there, I dont know why you should have to do something so drastic. I have seen a lot of people have miserable results with lithium, its very destructive on your body chemistry. Still, medicine can help people get

Lee_123, since you eat mostly fruit, craving meat when you dont get your greens could really just be a craving for something savory, instead of sweet. Our pallettes enjoy all different kinds of flavors, which natural makes us eat a well-rounded diet. Simply this could be why you stop craving meat when you eat greens. I dont know how much I buy into the cravings = nutritional deficiency idea. Crav

Well I guess the fact that I come to this forum for health advice and ideas, not political rants would be the first thing that makes me uncomfortable. This is not the place for that. But more than that, all I can say is that I am responding to a negative vibe (for lack of a better word). For example, relating this issue to nazis is immature and extreme. As far as my reasons for supporting t

I would also like to make a request. I find your posts inappropriate. They are the reason I have stopped coming to this site. For example, this post belongs in 'other topics' as it is not health related. Please be more careful as I feel you are ruining the positive environment here.

You very clearly do not understand the meaning of this ruling. TThe law has been changed to state that parent who want to homeschool their children themselves (instead of using a tutor) must now become certified to teach. Thats all. I dont see how it could possibley be seen as a bad idea to make sure all children obtain a n adequate education. Teachers in school must be certified, teachers at hom

Maybe good fats? I'm not sure about this, so see if anybody agrees with me, but I think a moderate (not too much) amount of healthy fats a day would help with this. Meaning nuts, seeds, avocado and coconut to name a few.

I understand you offense stoner, I dont think you were too harsh. To bring up as important a debate as religion in the forum of advice about coconuts was inappropriate and unrelated (I mean yes she made a connection, but could have used a more neutral example). If you read her blog you will see that she is in a very negative space (which is suprising coming from a fruitarian). Dont worry about it

Yes I have heard sweet potatoes, but I personally have never eaten them raw...they seem to starchy. I have also heard almonds, but I wouldnt think they have enough vitamins.

I have increased my fats by eating the pumpkin seeds, and it seems to be feeling okay. I am not giving myself all the fats I want, maybe I will try giving in to my cravings and see how my body reacts. If it is just an issue of grounding, I think my body would not feel right after all those fats. We'll see =)

I have been a raw foodist for some time now, and at 99.99% steadily, I feel pretty fully transitioned. But all of a sudden, the past week or so, I have been intensely hungery! I went through this when first going raw, and then it subsided. I mostly just eat fruit and often a salad with very little fat for dinner. But now all I want is fats! I dont want fruit really, maybe some greens seem good t

I was just wondering if there was any one food that could be considered 'perfect'. That we could eat nothing but this one food for the rest of our lives and never be lacking in anything. I'm not saying I would want to do this, more that I am just curious about your opinions and possibley looking for some new staples.

I very much believe that the pill is one of the worst things a woman can do to her body. Our hormones control basically all functions of our bodies, we should leave them be. Everybody I have talked to who has gone off the pill, has said that they didnt realize how 'not themselves' they had been on the pill until they went off. I personally went crazy and felt awful. Also have heard that Nuvaring

Did you change your diet other than that, or just start eating the oil? Meaning, was it replacing your other foods? If you were getting most of your calories from fat, that could lead to a spacey feeling and weight loss, as fat (if you dont consume any sugar with it) does not impact blood sugar. Low blood sugar can cause weight loss and spaciness.

Remember that when you dye your hair, you do not just put color in, but you take color out. The first step of permanent hair dying is removing all natural color from your hair. So stripping your hair will not give you back your natural color. Your natural color is not 'underneath' the dye, it doesnt exist anymore. Thats why when you start to dye your hair, you cant really stop unless you cut the

I always thought that the ones labeled'raw' were, you know, raw. But then I found some nuts that were REALLY raw. The were in the shells, and they were wetter and blander than any nuts I had ever had. So it became clear to me that all nuts you buy in stores are at least dired out, and most store-bought dried foods are heated to high temperatures. I dont eat them much now, they make me feel 'heavy

I am just wondering if the tamarinds you buy in the store are dehydrated? The ones I buy don't label themselves as 'dried' but they have that thick, sticky texture. Is this how they grow?

I drink occasionally although I do find thatsince becoming 100 percent raw my body reacts badly to alcohol. Yet when out with my friends, I always seem to forget that =) I only drink wine and taquila myself, with no mixer. Taquila is made from the agave plant, and is less of a depressant on your system than other alcohols, in fact some people say that it is more of a mild pschedelic drug (which I

Yes the white part is the spine. The spine has the long, toupher fibers of the plant and may cause digestive discomfort for you, try cutting the bulk of it out and see how you feel. I do this sometimes myself. Keep in mind though that much of the romant leaf is this spine, so you might want to just go ahead and try a less fiberous lettuce if this is bothering you.

Fibromyalgia is a syndrome, not a disease. This is not to say that it doesnt cause true pain, or that the pain is not real, but that the pain is a collection of symptoms with an underlying cause. What must be treated is the cause of your mothers pain, not just the pain itself. Diagnosing a person with fibromyalgia is irresponisble for that reason, it is technically the same diagnosis as generaliz

I was wondering what your thoughts are on eating foods with a high chlorophyll content. Is there anything beneficial about this? Our bodies digest energy in the form of glucose, so would any energy absorbed from the sun and stored in the clorophyll be usable (besides the basic calorie content of the plant)?

Yes! I used to be a heavy drinker, and it took me a long time to get drunk and I never got significant hangovers. The first time I drank after being a steady rawfoodist, I had about 3 glasses of wine. I was drunk. VERY drunk. I then proceeded to puke all night (litereally) and felt so sick the next morning I was curled up in the fetal position convinced that I was dying. All this from 3 glasses o

I abused laxatives for aout 8 years. It got to the point where I was taking about 6 laxatives every day just to have a normal bowel movement. Without laxatives, my body just wouldnt work. I did this up until becoming a rawfoodist, in fact, it is one of my main reasons for adhearing to the diet. In the first few days on raw (I was on off for about a year) my body would always start working like cl

I believe he had colitis, and was ordered by a traditional doctor to have part of his intestine removed, while he was under Sheltons care. So it is my understanding that he was seeing a traditional doctor, and Shelton at the same time. He died, and Shelton was sued for it. All the details I have found are hazy....

He will often eat eggs and fruit for breakfast in the morning, a salad wrap with chicken for lunch, fruit all day as a snack and then dinner(often sushi, pasta, organic Amy's Pizzas, relatively healthy non-veg). He drinks plenty of water. A few months ago he was having problems with body odor, so he cut down on his meat intake, and the problem cleared up after a few days. He also has to go t

28. Acne
My boyfriend has very bad and consistent acne. He is 21 and its still as bad as ever. He is on a high-raw, sometimes-vegetarian diet. I havent ever had this problem, so I dont know how to help him. I know that it bothers him, and interferes with his confidence, so I would really like to figure out how to improve this for him. He is looking for a natural, health-ful cure, not just a product that h

No matter how sensitive you are, unless you have an allergy a life-saving dose of anything wont kill you. When Raw foodists say they are more sensitive to things, mostly that is because they are more in tune with their bodies, and notice side effects more readily than other people. For example, if you were to take a nasal decongestant, you might notice more that it makes you jittery or aggitated

I would like to join in this weekend. Although its a little late in the day today, I havent eaten yet so I'm ready! I'm thinking I will do mostly water, maybe some juices/light smoothie if I feel I need to slow down cleansing. I have been doing some juice feasting so I should be ready for a light water fast. I think I will also be getting my excersize down to stretching/yoga during the fast. Here
