Tanawana, Thanks, and I have read several chapters from David's book now. It definently is geared for Colitis and Crohns. Do you know of anything specific that I would need to change when trying to treat IBS instead? I'm still trying to figure out the proper food combining rules and am having a hard time with the green smoothies. Almost all the recipes with greens include some kind of frui

I have David's book on hold at the library and will be picking it up today. Once again, many thanks for everybody's support and suggestions. I think the biggest thing that has started to help me already is to simplify, like so many of you have suggested. I am now eating just one thing everytime I eat and yesterday, I noticed the cramping was not so severe, so that has given me so much more hop

Rawdancer, no, I don't want to give up on raw yet, but was feeling a bit discouraged. I am a bit confused about mono eating. I have seen it in quite a few posts and am not sure what exactly that means. Do I eat one food, such as banans for one full day and then mangoes on the next or does it mean to stick with fruit at one meal and then veggies at another meal? I think the advice of not mixin

One more added note. I got a reply today from Soyabella, as I had asked them if you could disengage the heating element on their soy makers. They said you can not so that is one you don't want to buy.

I have not had much success making almond or sunflower milk either. The sunflower milk was undrinkable with all the sediment just staying on the bottom of the jar. I had filtered it too. What filter did you use? I agree with you about too much time and hassle. Have you decided on the Soyquick then? Thanks for the updates!

Thank you already for your replies! When I listed what I was eating, I didn't mean to imply that I was eating them all together. When I eat the seeds, it is always by themselves, as I have read not to combine them with fruits. I appreciate everybodys feedback and will add more of the green juices, as well as just drinking more water. I feel more hopeful now and will also get David Klein's boo

I have been following the raw diet for just about a month now and I am 98% raw. Before that I was vegeterian and only eating rice for grains. I started the raw diet hoping it would help alleviate some of the symptoms of irritable bowel that I experience daily. I have only found that the raw diet is making it worse, with all the fruit, and have continued to lose weight and energy. I am trying

Thanks for your input and website addresses. I, too, am just about ready to stick with blended almond milk, as after looking I found many more milk makers, so now I am very confused! Let me know how your experiment of making your own milk turns out. Did you come across any makers that disengage the heating element, other than the soyqick? The soyapower has the added feature of grinding nuts a

I actually found another soymilk maker called the soyabella. I am debating between that one and the soyquick. What did you hear about the soyquick? I e-mailed soyabella to see if their maker has an option to turn the heat element off. For soybeans, the water has to be heated for it to make the milk properly. None of the nut milks require that. Like you, I am looking for a quick and less of

I am looking into getting the soyquick soymilk maker myself. It has a setting where you can turn the heat off when making any kind of nut or soy milks. I am wanting to make my own almond milk now and I find this is the best for that. I am not sure where you live, but I think it is about $100 US if in the states. You can google soyquick to find more info on it. I tried the blender and I find

Bryan, It was great seeing that really one only needs fruits and vegetables when eating raw. I had been trying to eat nuts as well and just don't like them. I wanted to ask you if one still needs to follow any food combining rules when eating fruits and vegetables. And also, if one doesn't eat any nuts or seeds, do you have to eat avocado to get some sort of fat? Thanks!

Hi Anaken, No, I am not eating much of the dense foods, nor am I really having any cooked foods, other than I am still working on cutting out the commercialized almond milk. I want to try making my own raw almond milk. I eat about a tablespoon of avocado a day and a tablespoon of srpouted sunflower or pumpkin seeds. Is that too much fat for one day? I also wanted to ask you about green juice

Hi Everybody, I really thank you all so much for your feedback! I have been very leery of taking the Fosamax, and I did stop it for a month, until my doctor said it would at least maintain what bone mass I have now. But I guess with doctors in general, one needs to do their own research and I will look into those websites you mentioned, Arugula. I found the information from the dentist scary

Hi, I was wondering if there is anybody out there that is dealing with oesteoporosis. I have it quite severely, due to the eating disorder I battled in my teens and twenties, and last year my doctor put me on Fosamax. Having recently started eating raw foods only, I now don't want to put anything chemical based in my body, including the Fosamax. Is anyone else taking it or does anyone else ha

Thanks Fresh, for your insight. I will not eat the Larabars right now and will also just try to keep each meal simple, or better yet, just mono at this point.

Hi again, I have been almost 100% raw for the last 3 days now and I wanted to ask about the Larabars. I read here that quite a few people eat them so I picked up some on the weekend. I had one yesterday and was in alot of stomach pain for quite a few hours. It says they are raw, but I have also heard that it is not good to combine dried fruit and protein, which is what they are made of. Wha

Yes, it is great knowing there are a few of us raw foodists in this area, or relatively speaking. And it would be great to maybe try a get together sometime. I live in Coquitlam, but am not sure where all the rest of you are located. I don't have a car, but can get anywhere that transit goes. I think Jodi is out in Mission, so it sounds like she is the furtherest away from downtown. Aquadec

Hi Enchantress, Great to hear from you and it is nice to know that you are doing better now. Have you fully conquered your ED? I do know that when I eat a totally raw meal, I have no urges to get rid of the food, as I know it is fueling my body in the highest form. I have been a vegeterian for many years, but did eat alot of dairy, which I have now cut out. I do miss cheese still, but I fin

Thanks everyone for your insightful comments! I really appreciated your thoughts and I am doing alot of internal soul searching and the raw diet feels right for me now, in spite of the external eating rules. I have seen many nutritionists in my past and have just recently been able to question all the information I have learned from them, so that is a good sign. I have long since given up meat

I am just a beginner to the raw diet, but am having some difficulty in getting past the nutritional information I received growing up. After being told that one needs to eat from all the food groups at every meal to be healthy, my brain now finds it difficult to reprogramme this new information about raw foodism. I am wondering if anybody here went through these conflicting messages on how and

I am a newbie here, but can sure relate to eating disorders. I have struggled with either one or the other for many years and have been through various in and out patient therapy programmes. I have many health related problems due to my years of struggle with it, but as I now want to nurture my physical body, I find the thoughts of torturing myself with the eating disorder habits are dwindling.

Hi Jodi, Great to hear from you and I am a real newbie when it comes to raw foods. I am Celiac with irritable bowel syndrome and I am also recovering from an eating disorder, so I know my body has alot of recovering to do. I am not even really sure where to start on the raw food diet. Is food combining very important? I had sprouts, avocado, tomato, and a few nuts last night, but now I read

Hi Jodi, I live in Coquitlam, so not too far from you. I am just starting out on a raw food diet, but it would be nice to chat with you sometime and maybe support one another. I have numerous health issues that I am hoping the raw food diet can help me with. How long have you been on the raw diet?
