Never tasted whey before, so I have no idea. I actually love raw hemp protein powder. I dip my bananas in it. LOL I tried Vega once and I had the worst gas in my life. I was doubled over in pain! I have used the Rainbow light chocolate and Vanilla Soy in the past. I blend it up with frozen bananas and make chocolate or vanilla ice cream. Neither are raw, but they taste great.

Hi Debbie, Interesting article, but all your evidence is anecdotal and you provide no references to any studies. My own anecdotal evidence is that when I become 100% raw, several times I experienced hyponatremia. It wasn't diagnosed at first and I went through several days of horrible symptoms. I kept craving popcorn, but I remained raw and eventually it went away. After a few times of th

There are some raw rice proteins. Sun Warrior and Nutribiotic both have raw rice proteins for purchase.

Tamukha, Oh, I thought you were talking about using sea salt to counter an iodine deficiency. I agree that Sea salt is much much better than table salt. It is like the difference between corn and HFCS.

I agree. Blending is a great way to consume vegetables that are not all that flavorful. I would get rid of the stevia and throw in a banana if it were me. I do warn people who are trying to lose weight that blending reduces the "fill" factor because you chop the fiber up too much. Also, in doing so with fruit, the fructose is released and significantly increase the GI of the food.

BTW, I just ran a couple miles which is huge for me considering I haven't consumed any food in the last 42 hours. I actually felt pretty good. My energy was probably 60-65% of my carb loaded energy, whereas before I would say is was below 20%. I am thoroughly convinced now Not very hungry right now. Just a very very mild headache.

I love avocados and I do eat them often. Even with the avocados and nuts I eat, my diet still is less then 15% fat or so. I am probably closer to a 70-15-15 diet.

Paul, Just a few weeks now. I started to question the idea of "grazing" as being the best way for us to eat a few months ago. This was because of some studies I read concerning athletes and fasting. It showed that athletes who exercise before eating show better fat metabolism, greater endurance, and a reduced "bonking" effect. From this I started trying to work out in t

I have been working in alternate day fasting and I find I like it very much. I skip food one day, and eat all I want to the next. Right now I am on day 2 of a 5 day fast. Well, it might be shorter then 5 days. We will see When I do eat, I find I enjoy the food so much more. I tend to focus on nutrient dense foods such as most vegetables, some fruits, and minimal nuts.

Alcohol also contains calories with 7 per gram. Carbs are 4 calories per gram. Proteins are 4 calories per gram. Fats are 9 calories per gram. Carb calories are the bodies main source of energy. Protein is mostly used for rebuilding the body, but can be used as energy. Fat is used in various parts of the body for protection, but then excess fat is used to store energy for when you bod

I am laughing at the comparison! Iodine is not a medication. Iodine is naturally occurring in food, however over farming has lead to depleted iodine levels in soil which results in lower iodin

Imagine you go to a Doctor and you say you have a pain in your stomach. Without knowing anymore information, he states "odds are that you need to drink some antacid." I don't know about you, but I would LMOA while I walked out of his office. I consumed iodine to alleviate my deficiency.

I remember going to the Raw Spirit Fest a couple years ago and hearing David Wolfe talk and try and sell me Coloidial Silver. I was so turned of by him and new that he was just in it for the money. I know here he is promoting raw meat and dairy. Way to make a 180. I get tired of the "eat this" or "do this" and "all your ails will be cured." I spend a lot of

Prana stated "If you follow the diet and sleep pattern that durianrider proposes, odds are you will heal your chronic fatigue." This is baseless advice. My chronic fatigue syndrome was caused by an iodine deficiency. The more raw I ate, the worse it got. Simply eating raw foods is not a cure all for all conditions.

Prana, As Powerlifer mentioned, their are numerous reasons for chronic fatigue. To suggest you know what caused mine without knowing anything about me is absolutely ridiculous. Laughable even.

I know this is old, but one issue you might encounter with a high raw diet, especially in hot climates where you drink a lot of water is hyponatremia. This means low blood sodium which is a result of sweating out the salt but consuming plenty of food and water with insufficient salt. I developed this recently and had cramps, low energy, a headache, etc. A small amount of salt caused an almost
