Hello anyone with experience making their own sauerkraut? I just learned that sauerkraut has very high levels of vitamin C, especially if made with red cabbage. Also excellent source of enzymes. I started some using some savoy cabbage I bought before I found the article. So I am excited to start some red cabbage sauerkraut. However, what are your experiences? Is there a a down side of sauerk

Where did you learn how to grow mushrooms? Any good videos or DVDs available you could recommend. One my my favorite sources of mushrooms has discontinued their video on how to grow. I would like to grow reishi at first, mostly so I can easily ID what is growing, and that it would be unlikely that anything else would look like it, should the culture get contaminated. Please let me know, thanks!

Hi, I have been looking to grow my own Hydrilla. Mostly because I like the high mineral content, but would like to consume fresh and living. But whenever I search most of the information is about how to control or get rid of. I understand its a common exotic that is causing a lot of problems in the USA. I have looked for alternatives I could just buy from a pet food store, but very very limited

There are a few interesting things about this. If someone were vegan just against animal harm, this would remove most objections, save the initial start of the culture. Would be interesting to know if meat 'without harm' is still harmful physically. It would still be devoid of fiber, still have cholesterol, saturated fat I would assume, and probable heme iron. Uric acid? Would there still be 'k

Thank you John Rose, That is insidious. I am sure more than 99% of people that might experience would not know what is happening, and go back to hospital for treatment(s) of some type and slow down or completely stop the process. This however doesn't make sense to most people. I showed a few people who were just shocked, and didn't understand at all why such an old wound would be revisited, revi

I recently went high raw, and excluded root vegetables, and most fermented products, no additional salt if I can help it. the most amazing thing...an old scald scar reappeared, and it felt like I got burned again. It also looked like it...but within a week it healed and I don't see the scar at all! I wonder if there is a name for this? and any way to enhance this? I know the body has its own

Hello, I recall reading about a food therapy in which one eats particular colored foods on particular days. These are according to the planets and days of the week, per vedic astrology. I wish I still had the book to see suggested foods on the particular days. Has anyone done this? Your input is appreciated

Some plants are parasites, completely dependent on its host. So not all produce energy from light. I think some animals produce part of their energy from light. I recall a sea slug that did that.

riverhousebill Thank you. I didn't realize how many mistakes I was making. Late night blogging will do that every time. Mislu is from Alaska, something like celery, fennel etc... LOL! I thought I was being cool like Durian, or David Avocado wolf, or coconut cream and the like. Instead I am using something that already has a name use, I had no idea that was a name other than for that wild vege

Thank your comments. I miss the raw food community I used to go. Since I moved, I went to a vegan potluck, but it just wasn't the same. I think it was because because most people were not vegan, except that one meal, something like that. I am a guy the way. I don't understand why people think I am female. Its spelled mislu, after a particular wild vegetable. Said like Muzu.

Hello, I recently came across a statement that eating raw helps one feel more connected to everything. I don't know where I read that, but is this true? How does this feel? In this internet age, I think its been the most disconnected I have ever felt.

Their vitamineral greens formula contains Holy Basil or Tulsi. Which is actually a great plant, except it should be in tea or tincture form. Not to be eaten whole by mouth. Believed to damage teeth...

What damage do they think will be done if you exclude animal foods? I have heard some people say that, but no facts, no figures, no examples.

I watched some raw food 'debunking' video some time ago. I didn't find it very balanced, or even intelligent. Was so supposed to be so scientific. They created this mechanical 'digester' that was supposed to be something like a human stomach, and then ran a chopped up raw potato. After x number of hours they looked at it again, and the texture was unchanged. First of all, since when is a mach

Yes, someone has recently started saying this at social events with food and meat. "Plants have feelings too". I never respond, as I know its just in jest. Somehow I don't think he is advancing the fruitarian option.

I am not sure I understand. If the symptoms of ebola were just detox wouldn't people just detox and get well? Also wouldn't millions, if not billions of people have these symptoms? Knowing how widespread toxins are, meat eating and eating of cooked foods, medications etc....

Think of beautiful butterflies, moths, and perhaps beetles. There is actually a jumping spider that has incredibly colorful and beautiful markings. That spider is also mainly vegetarian. Sometimes when I see a close up photo of some moths the scales look like fur, so soft and cuddly looking.

I know many here do not believe in science, mostly conventional nutritional science. However, I always wanted to know if detox from cooked food has ever been systematically studied? What exactly is the evidence? Detox as term outside of raw foods relates to drugs or alcohol or some substance that most people accept as being harmful in an of itself, or in excess. That is a studied thing.

CNC, Yes, I think this is considered 'normal' by most people. Anything healthier than this is 'fanatical'. I certainly used to eat hot pockets, and thought they were good. I don't remember eating them with the suggested salad however. But if people manage to eat the salad with them, that might keep some amount of troubles away. But it is sad to consider what is 'normal' or what conforms to a

La veronique, I think the issue is defining veganism beyond diet. That includes clothing, how one earns a living, and I suppose even who you associate with, including the animal kingdom. Especially if it involves preparing food for a pet, or clothing them in non-vegan items, or non-vegan surroundings. Suppose you worked in a meat packing plant, but followed a strict plant based diet, coul
